  1. I would assume that if a car has a sunroof it will have drain holes. On the LS there are two at the front corners and two at the rear. One of my previous LS's had a flood due to the drain holes being blocked, setting the alarm off at 4 am!
  2. So I wonder how many people that pick up screws and nails could have prevented accidents or worse, just by making the minimal effort?
  3. Welcome to the LOC. You tend to find that replies can be a bit slow as Lexus isn't the most common car!
  4. At least it's in a repairable spot. I make very sure I haven't left screws and nails on the ground when I finish a job, in fact I always pick other peoples off the road when I see them. Sadly not every tradesman bothers. The worst places are car parks at Wickes and builders merchants generally. For my piece of mind I would put a repaired tyre on the rear, just in case.
  5. Welcome to the LOC I bet you get parts cheaper than we can!
  6. I like the back end! If money was no object I'd buy this, definitely unique.
  7. Actually, I really like that, it looks very American. It's just the Grille that looks a bit naff.
  8. Unlike the job I had done at Halfords! Just out of interest, does the RX300 SE-L have air suspension?
  9. Thank you, I think I'll look out for one that comes up locally and see it in the flesh. I didn't want to waste my time looking if the seats remained in place. Thanks for your help.
  10. It's something I've considered as an alternative to an estate car, but if the back seats don't fold then it wouldn't unfortunately work for me.
  11. Can one of you RX owners tell me how wide, and more importantly, how long is the floor space in an RX, and do the rear seats fold and lay flat? Ta
  12. I would stop listening to all the bad stuff about the LS430. It isn't a foregone conclusion that every one will suffer major problems, and anyway, some can be prevented easily. The 4.3 engine is superb, the seats will cool your backside on a hot day, it's bigger than the LS400, the handling is sharp, the styling is more modern and so on. Like I often say, you only tend to hear about the problems, but not the stories of owners that have done 200K + without any issues.
  13. As far as I know it's just the premium pack (which most are) that have air.
  14. The 430 is more plentiful, so more choice. The 400 has a well proven record of outstanding reliability. The cabin in the 430 is (in my opinion) much nicer and with much more room. The 430 (according to my insurance company) is a safer car. I've had two LS400's and as brilliant as they were, I wouldn't now go back to one having experienced the LS430. If I was to look for another one with the intention of keeping it for some time, I would have coils springs put on and make sure I had the potential radiator problem made safe. LS400 die hards may disagree, and I can certainly understand why they would.
  15. If it came down purely to cosmetics, a dark car with a light interior would always be my first choice, they always seem to look more "modern" for much longer. The LS460 is a beautiful looking car whichever you choose. As has been said, mileage on these cars is not really that important as long as it has a comprehensive history. Ask me again in a few years when I can afford one!! BTW, welcome to the LOC!
  16. I found that I couldn't post photos or links using Internet Explorer, but Google Chrome works fine
  17. I'd agree with the spring theory, it's not at all uncommon. My last LS400 had problems with the AC fan speed, it kind of made surging sounds and then wouldn't blow cold enough. I ended up buying a compressor from a breakers and it sorted the problem. Just a thought.
  18. I've had the same thing a couple of times, the keyless entry stops working, the remote stops working but it starts OK with the key in the ignition. The next day it's fine for a few months. No idea why. They do however take quite a bit of battery power with the smart keys. As suggested, change the battery first to rule that out (if you haven't done so already)
