  1. Is it the one with the gleaming tyres and paint; two rusty doors, & both steering column adjustments u/s? He hasn't stated that the A/C is "ice cold" either. That's the one! Nice colour.......
  2. I bought a DrivePro 200 for £85, it was the top buy according to Auto Express, it comes with a 16GB card. Just to show how useful they can be, this is me a few weeks ago coming close to removing someones door! For some reason they always look like you're speeding!
  3. I used the bottle of liquid that came with a kit I bought last year, a bit of a rip off really because all it is is T-Cut, maybe the metallic paint one which is less coarse. I just kept rubbing with it on a small sponge. it takes some time but it's well worth it, then polish with car wax. The kit comes with a mop for a drill but it's useless as it goes everywhere. I know you can get the same results by using toothpaste. Plenty of vids on Youtube.
  4. Have you checked that the keyless entry isn't switched off under the dash? Some owners turn it off out of preference.
  5. Thank you, I actually enjoyed doing it as well.
  6. Local police I would imagine, and sooner rather than later.
  7. As another member did this successfully I thought I would do mine as the brushed aluminium on the centre console was looking a bit naf. Much nicer now I think. I also polished the headlights, what a difference that makes, especially when you look at the two together, the drivers side is the before one!
  8. If the image is clear I would definitely report it. I've got a dash cam, and if I witnessed anything like that I would report it straight away.
  9. I didn't spot it being a cat d first time round, my mistake. Actually, I don't see it as a problem as long as there's evidence of the original damage. My other car was written off 3 years ago but it got repaired and I still use it. I was aware that Lexus only replace the belt, but it's still a good price. If you include the water pump etc some main dealers will do it for around £500. I was quoted that by an independent. The Gumtree car is still a good buy I think, if it passes a good going over that is.
  10. I don't know how Halfords get away with what they do. How can one of their staff carry out a 71 point check on a car as complex as an LS400? They should stick to selling bikes and chamois leathers....and while they're at it, training their staff to have some manners and learn about the importance of customer relations! It seems to be back on Gumtree and has now graduated to a cat D!
  11. I mentioned this one the other day, it does look like a very good buy, and just because the cambelt isn't mentioned doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Even if it hasn't it's still a good price, considering Lexus will do it for £295. Not keen on the wheels though.
  12. We always stay at the same cottage in the Cot Valley near St Just. When we were there two years ago I didn't see another Lexus on the road....until we arrived. The farm has three rental properties, and the neighbouring one had an LS430 parked outside. The only one seen in 600 miles and it's parked next to us!
  13. That's fair comment. My AC seems to be working fine now so I'll just keep it as it is. The price for yours is very good.
  14. So much is down to personal taste. For me it's getting them as close to the original colour as possible (assuming you're going for a refurb?) I really like your wheels, and if they were mine they would stay silver. I've never been a fan of grey or black, but as I say, it's all down to personal taste.
  15. Well done, and we'll look forward to the photos! I hope it serves you well (as I'm sure it will)
  16. My air con condenser, like the radiator I've just replaced, has crumbling fins at the bottom, and although it may not leak it must affect the performance. Considering the relatively small cost, I may consider replacing mine in due course. How much are they quoting for yours if you don't mind me asking?
  17. I've given up wondering why some days mine is the same both sides, and other days there's a slight difference. It's been like that for ages.
  18. For me it's the best ever colour combination. Quite honestly, if it was anywhere near me, and it looked as good as the photos, I'd buy it just for the sake of it. Just shows that good ones do come along at times. This looks a good buy as well http://www.gumtree.com/p/lexus/lexus-ls400-1-year-mot-/1123580268
  19. I've never used the key but I'll check in the morning, unless someone else tells you in the meantime. I believe it only turns very slightly. I'd be surprised if it wasn't clockwise though.
  20. That's a good price, it certainly has got cheaper, I was paying £70 years ago. What impressed me with the place I went to was the way he spotted straight away that it had rear air con which meant another 300gms or so of gas. I wonder if Halfords would have done that!
  21. I think it would be amazing to discover that air shocks can be rebuilt. I hope you manage to do this and that you source one OK. Unfortunately the ebay ones tend to be around £130. Maybe if you don't have any success from a member you could try a breakers, pointing out that it doesn't need to be a working unti?
  22. Just let me know when you've booked in, I can be very flexible in the next two weeks or so.
  23. It's just a shame it doesn't extend to our house. All the windows open, a fairly strong breeze but we're dripping! And we only live 10 mins walk to the beach where it's usually a bit cooler, I would hate to think what London would be like today.
