  1. Welcome to the LOC Mark. Nice car, and what a find, it looks mint!
  2. I haven't but I'll look out for it. We saw Peter Green's Splinter Group here in sunny Worthing just a few years back. He may have looked a mess, but boy, could he still play!
  3. I've just put a Fleetwood Mac CD in my car (Peter Greens band that is) now that needs volume! But generally it's still peace and quiet for me when driving. I'm just remembering as i type this, a 69 Chevvy Chevelle I had in the 70's as well, come to think of it, that had a straight through exhaust, and a siren!!
  4. I had motorbikes in the 70's BSA etc, the first thing was to remove the baffles to have the exhaust straight through. The cars would have 8 track which meant you had the delight of listening to both the a and b sides playing together! Now it's as much serenity as possible (except when Hendrix comes on the radio)
  5. Welcome back Ian, looking forward to your input again. I know how hard life can be, my wife was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, thankfully all looking good now tough!
  6. I did wonder if that was a possibility, is it a common thing?
  7. And to confuse me even more, I've just been outside to try again and it worked fine!
  8. Welcome to the LOC Chris. Because you say it may be more noticeable when turning, a wheel bearing comes to mind, but if you say it's been checked by Lexus then that should have been covered. Have you tried rotating the tyres? That's assuming the front and rear are the same size.
  9. It was fine all day, but when I got home neither the smart key locking or pressing the button would work, the boot button doesn't either. I tried the spare fob, and both have had new batteries in the past 6 months. Any ideas gratefully received.
  10. £60 is pretty good for a main dealer diagnostic, I'd be happy with that. I was reading just this week about the coolant temperature sensor being called the "master sensor" that's because it can affect almost every aspect of the cars performance. I'm just replacing it on my wife's Vauxhall, less than £10.
  11. My MK4 used to do around 18 in town so you're not far out. The LS430 does about the same, and I can manage 32 at best. I suppose it's not a bad thing to have a proper Lexus diagnostic check once in a while. Did they give you a price?
  12. Please keep us updated with this, price of parts, and labour, also how the car rides afterwards.
  13. I put this in a post last week, metallic paint T-Cut, a sponge, and LOTS of elbow grease. I have used one of the kits before, I think that was £25 as well, and they do work very well, especially as they come with a polishing head to go in a drill. That saves a lot of the elbow work. First class job, looks excellent.
  14. Good point, although I think failure is more likely to be gradual. I just hope its nothing dangerous if it ever happens on motorway. Personally I've never read of one case where it's become a danger. That's not to say it isn't, but I've read many, many threads on this and never heard of an accident or near miss. Now if you ask about tyre blow outs...

  16. Complete opposite I'd say. You get a good product and excellent support with Apple, not with Lexus dealers. Apple doesn't force anybody to upgrade. Your system continues to work the same as the day you purchased it. If you want to use the latest software you have to keep the hardware up to date, that way the complete system doesn't have years and years of legacy code in it weighing it down like Windows. The difference with Apple is that they use child labour, have measures to prevent suicide within the vast workforce, treat their staff like dogs, pay them a pittance and cover it all up with glossy, glittery shops with lots of young trendy people with very white teeth. So it's a shame the excellent support doesn't exist within the factory. Do you know that for a fact or have you just been reading poorly researched pieces from the media, specifically mentioning Apple to drive traffic to their piece? Considering Apply don't employ factory workers, other than a few in the US manufacturing the Mac Pro, it is going to be a bit difficult for them to carry out the claims mentioned. If you are talking about the sub-contractors that actually manufacture the products then they use the same companies as pretty much every other PC manufacturer, exception being that Apple actually investigate working conditions and pressure those companies to improve conditions. No, I'm taking it from a Chinese friend, but mostly from a recent Panorama reporting on the Apple empire.
  17. Good for you, and not too expensive. If mine go I'll do the same.

  19. Even if you get an original as a replacement it may still be worth replacing the rubber, unless it's 100%, it's not too difficult.
  20. That's where British Leyland went wrong, and all this time we were blaming the likes of Red Robbo!
  21. Anyway, just a bit of harmless fun! I work next to a sign maker and saw a small piece of blue vinyl doing nothing, so I put it to use, it's nothing permanent.
  22. A tad off topic but, my MK4 LS400 had black leather and it really did suit, and looked great. In my opinion black clashes with the large amount of walnut on the 430. I really like the grey, gives a nice light airy feel.
  23. My dashcam will only be viewed if I need to use the footage as part of an insurance claim. It loops every 2 hours so nothing is kept. Only criminals & dngerous drivers need worry about any form of cctv imho. Ed And the same for me, unless of course It spots an alien and earns me loads of money selling it to the National Enquirer!
  24. A pathetic waste of time maybe, but I like the new blue Lexus badge!
  25. The sun roof leak is fairly common, not sure about the air con. I would do as Guy suggests and hose it down, but try to imitate the way the rain falls, and do it for a good amount of time, and in different directions.
