  1. Ah yes, when I bought some wheels for one of my LS's I had to buy these nuts as well, got mine at Halfords......for more than you paid!
  2. Too true, wouldn't it be nice if there was just one universal coolant! The problem is not knowing if being "unique to Toyota" is just a unique way of relieving you of more cash for something you could buy elsewhere with the same properties and half the price!
  3. When I replaced my radiator a couple of weeks ago I phoned Lexus to confirm what I needed, which was red. It may be best to do the same, they're generally very helpful on the phone, just ask to speak to a technician. I bought mine from a Local Toyota dealer @ £25 for 5 litres.
  4. It's all fixable, just depends what the problem is. If it is the rear pipes then the fuel tank has to come out, but as I say, it may not be that. The earlier cars didn't all have the same spec i.e. the premium pack with air suspension and vibrating rear seats etc.
  5. It took me ages to work out what you meant, then I realised you were talking about traffic jams and not preserves! I don't know why people call them fridges anyway, they're only coolers, although I did put the meat in on the way back from the butchers last week!
  6. Don't worry it looks OK. Basically the pump kicks in for a few seconds whenever needed. What I meant was, was it way down, which it isn't. The amount of adjustment it makes in normal use wouldn't be noticeable.
  7. Looks fab in that photo. In some ways it's nice to have a project, and it looks like you've got a good starting point. Presumably when you went to see it it wasn't down on the rear end? If not it's a good sign there's no suspension leak.
  8. Wow, am I glad I'm not in that league. I'm so appreciative of all you people who spend vast amounts of money on cars so the likes of me can enjoy them years later for the cost of a nice holiday. You do us a great service. Keep it up, we're relying on you!
  9. Have a chat with Mark (cruisermark) he had a problem with his amp so he's more likely to give you some info. If you do a search on this forum you'll find some info from others who have had the rear capped off, it's nowhere near as involved as replacing the pipes. It could of course be something different so you'll need to get the system checked for leaks, with my last one it was a duff compressor. 91K is good, what year? Do the steering wheel motors work?
  10. We look forward to the photos! The amp is a common-ish problem, and rear air con pipe corrosion is a possibility for it not blowing cold, but you can always have the rear capped off if that's the case. Hope it works out well for you.
  11. Zindabad: A word used mostly by Muslims generally meaning victorious, except he isn't as he got prosecuted.
  12. Just rub it in why don't you, Rioja being my favourite wine! Anyway, I'm sitting here in sunny Sussex with a bottle of Prosecco and a bar of chocolate after our takeaway curry. Not as good, but not too bad. Hope you're having a fab time.
  13. Not wanting to show my age but it was Pepsodent that enabled you to wonder where the yellow went! I used mettalic paint T-cut on mine, worked well although they weren't too bad anyway. Better results than the kit that I wasted £25 on last year. I think when they've been polished it is necessary to do them again from time to time as it removes the original coating.
  14. In my experience touch up paint is fine for stone chips (although it'll be far from invisible) but using it for scratches will look dreadful. Fine scratches can be mopped out but I would go to a pro if you don't have decent equipment or knowledge.
  15. Simple, you lock it by touching one of the door buttons and open it just by touching the door handle, works a treat.
  16. My last one was blue, looked fab when clean, but as you say it shows every mark, especially stone chips. It's a funny thing, they do look bigger in dark colours, although try parking it and you soon know it's big!! Having said that, there's one that parks near where I work and that's silver, and it dwarfs most others parked near it. Apart from that I think they look great in silver, a timeless colour.
  17. That's how mine is (minus a skeleton key) the valet key won't open the boot or glove box.
  18. The thing is I did get really lucky, it doesn't happen that often when buying cars. Now that my radiator has been replaced and hopefully I've prevented gearbox failure I'll keep an eye on the suspension, which may well be fine for a long time to come, but because of the overall condition of the car I'd be happy to convert to coilovers IF necessary. 140K is not a problem if the car has been well maintaned.
  19. I've just checked mine. It came with three keys and two open the glove compartment but the one without the "trunk" button doesn't, It won't even go in the lock. I guess that's the valet key. So I'm guessing I have two master keys as they both have all three buttons and work everything.
  20. It helps if you can sit it on level ground. If it looks slightly lopsided it may well have a height sensor problem, and in my experience it's often the rear that gets affected most, but don't be put off by all the bad press. When I went to see mine it was parked on a sloping drive which put me off straightaway, it looked bad until it was put on the level road.
  21. It certainly would if it was Mohammed.
  22. It seems that saying "as far as they're aware" gives them a get out option if everything doesn't. On the other hand the LS430 has a lot of things that some would never use anyway so maybe that a genuine comment. I wouldn't mind 50 miles to view a car, I've done 5 times that. I'd be a bit concerned about the service history though. The plate does look like a NI reg, although you can buy the NI ones easily. Of course the sellers surname could be Zebedee or Zechariah!!
  23. That does seem to be the price, I checked with them over a year ago. You really do need the master key, and they are correct in saying it'll be expensive if you haven't.
  24. With all my 4 Lexus cars the cambelt has been done already, including the one I have now so I've managed to avoid it. If I had a decent garage I would do it if needed, although a bit daunting. Let us know how you get on so we can all pass on our admiration!
