  1. I fitted them on my LS400 and they were dead easy, I'm sure the 430 is just as easy. I think there are some Youtube guides.
  2. I can understand hating that, unless you're a cartoon postman! Interestingly, if I had to make a decision between my Lexus and my Volvo, the Volvo would win. It's probably because my Volvo is pretty much the top of the range and has many toys, but also being an estate it's just so practical. However, the cabin in the LS430 is just superb, vast and classy, and I'm sorry, but it's just far superior to the LS400, and certainly far superior to that French thing above.
  3. That's what I thought, the pulley from the AC compressor.
  4. If it's still up for sale I might go and buy it as well as it looks nice!!!
  5. As you're in Sussex (although it's a big county) I'm more than happy to come and view any local-ish ones with you if you like.
  6. I don't know what color the earth is but I know my problem was intermittent as well, it also work sometimes when I turned the steering hard without the engine running.
  7. My sympathies, now that I have a bus pass my wife likes to travel on them. On Thursday it took 90 minutes to do the 12 miles to Brighton on one as we sat listening to peoples mobile phone conversations.....loudly! Oh yes, and the child vomiting into a plastic carrier bag!
  8. No no no, poor excuse. You told me there's a very good body shop in Brighton so colour is not an issue here. It looks like you should get it very cheaply so you can just keep the wings and dump the car. Let me know and I'll give you a hand fitting the new wings, always glad to help. I may not be available when its done to help you test drive it though!
  9. Well done that man, we look forward to the photos. The front discs are such a common issue, but only a minor one, I've noticed mine are just beginning to get a slight wobble when braking. Still, easy and fairly inexpensive to put right. I don't know but I'd guess the Sat Nav has a different source, I'm happy to be corrected.
  10. Welcome to the LOC Derek. This is unlikely, but I did read somewhere to hold the eject button down for 10 seconds or so, with the ignition on. Nothing to loose in trying! You can also find some info for removing the system on Youtube.
  11. I can only speak from my own experience of using Blueprint, I'd be more than happy to use them and recommend them.
  12. It may not be the same thing but my horn stopped working (on my previous LS430) so it failed the mot. After many attempts and swearing it simply turned out to be a bad earth where the steering column has a nylon knuckle joint. I took the plastic cover off around the steering column and simply joined the two sides with a piece of wire. There is a post somewhere under horn not working.
  13. Sorry Steve, I thought I'd added a photo but forgot to do it. If I give these switches a bit of a squeeze the rattle virtually goes so I want to take them off to see whats loose. It's clearly behind there somewhere. Thanks
  14. Iv'e got an annoying plastic sounding rattle behind the the left had side buttons on this part of the dash. Before I break something, has anyone removed these switches or know how? Thanks
  15. I bought it in the 70's for £150 and went everywhere in it. On a winters trip from London to North Wales the choke cable broke but it didn't matter, even with sub zero temperatures it fired up in the morning with no problems but, definitely not a luxury car! And John, I wouldn't worry. Even if the stereo it duff you can still source parts from a breakers.
  16. You're treading on dangerous ground there my man (even though you're right) You see, if you keep it small it'll still be our secret!
  17. It won't be the first! The general consensus is that they're both excellent cars, but one has more bits to go wrong. Either way, the LS400 is surely the most reliable car ever made (apart from my 1959 Beetle that I wish I still had) so enjoy!
  18. Well done, glad you're happy with it....more refined indeed...hmmm pistols at dawn.
  19. When I had old bangers many years ago (which always leaked and overheated) I'd use water from ponds and ditches! The thing with pukka coolants is that they have a small amount of lubricant in them, essential for the water pump.
  20. Don't forget to post some photos, everyone likes photos!
  21. Same here, we watched about 25 mins and sadly found it uncomfortable and even embarrassing so turned it off. You'd really think that all the stops would be pulled out for the first one with the new line up. The Reliant Rialto thing, what was that, just a load of nothingness. So disappointed.
