  1. Perhaps they come with a Caribbean holiday! Scary price.
  2. It's interesting really how certain tyres affect certain cars, I assumed that because my Volvo had decent Pirelli tyres they would be good all round, but not so. They did however have amazing wet grip but no rim protection which means two wheels have been curved. I'm very happy now with both Avon and Goodyear on both cars but I certainly wouldn't be able to say one is better than the other. As I mentioned in another post, I'm surprised to find Avon's are made in England, God bless the queen!!
  3. I went for Avon's on my LS which are excellent, but I got the Goodyear's for my Volvo as the Pirelli tyres were tramlining badly, no tramlining at all with the Goodyear's, and very good wet grip as well. Not run flat though.
  4. I was interested once in that grey/green colour, but decided on my blue/black one at the time! Most people thought it was black, but in some lights it was very blue. The neighbours must have thought I had two!
  5. The alarm in the LS430 can be disarmed so I've never understood why that isn't the case with all cars, doesn't make sense.
  6. I'll give it a good clean and new fuel mix as soon as the skin on my fingers has healed after pulling the start cord for about a 100 times and removing the skin! Just shows how fuel really does go off though.
  7. Interesting that you mention your mower. I tried to start my hedge trimmer this morning and it fired for a couple of seconds and that was it. The petrol had a very oily smell, not like the usual 2 stroke, it had sat unused for two months.
  8. As Qamar says, check the battery. In fact if you're not sure how old it is it may be worth replacing anyway. It doesn't take much in the way of reduced power to set the alarm off. These alarms are very, very sensitive.
  9. You'll miss the LS430! I sold mine and went back to a 400 but I very quickly went back to a 430.
  10. It's probably the same as hearing about the problems with air suspension, you only hear about the problem and not the many very satisfied owners. Enjoy!
  11. Even for the US the bays don't look overly wide!
  12. I think you're supposed to put it In cruise control then get in the back and "fix ham and eggs" as the vehicle drives itself.
  13. Are they for sale and would they fit an LS430? Although I don't need tyres.
  14. Very nice, and why is it always someone else who gets the bargains and not me!
  15. Be worth getting nicked so you could do something rare....trying out the back seats! In all these years of LS ownership I've never travelled in the back of my own car, handcuffed or not!
  16. The diff oil wouldn't have any effect on whether the car holds or not, that's down to the transmission.
  17. I've got efficient grip on my LS and they seem fine. A couple of weeks ago I bought Avon tyres for my Volvo and was surprised to see they were made in England. My Pirelli tyres tramlined badly but the Avon's are excellent.
  18. Welcome to the LOC James, some photos of your new purchase are always appreciated.
  19. My first LS400 only had one key so I bought a used one with transponder from eBay for £25 (it has to be the same as your existing one) and a cheap blank for about £4 (can't remember exactly how much) and I had the blank copied from my original by a local locksmith, about £8 if I remember correctly. I put the old transponder in the newly cut blank, went through the reprogramming routine (which took several attempts) and all was fine. The locksmith did say they can't guarantee the key cutting would work but it did. The main thing is you MUST have a master key.
  20. Well there you go, get it in your diary before you go northwards!
  21. I certainly understand what you're saying, my silver 93 MK2 looked so good when it was buffed up! It was a car I drove for 5 years with very little in the way of problems, and most people loved the look of it. I went from that to a 1999 MK4 and I have to say the difference was so noticeable in a very positive way, handling, seat comfort, dash layout and various gadgets, but I'll never forget the MK2, it was fantastic!
  22. The MK4 has the vvti engine ( more or less the same as the LS430) I know I mentioned it recently but the dark green one on eBay really looks nice, and if I were in the market I'd be up north looking at it, especially looking at the reg number if my name was John!
