  1. Not that I drive your model but most new brakes I've had leave it feeling slightly spongy until they bed in. And certainly taking the top of the master cylinder off won't let air in.
  2. I've also read that the engine should not be started when the car is jacked up and the weight is off the suspension. I'm guessing that as it's gone back to normal you've got nothing to worry about.
  3. Welcome back! How was the LS430 in the time you owned it, how does it compare to the GS? While I'm firing questions, how does Lexus compare to Mercedes in your experience?
  4. Welcome to the LOC Mark. Like I've often said, you only usually read about the problems, not the good points. Not every IS with a diesel engine suffers so enjoy it, just like I'm enjoying my LS knowing that not every one will suffer with reported problems!
  5. I would want to know if my radiator would hold up under pressure should the water temperature rise for any reason. Actually, if a pressure test did make it worse, and I doubt it would, it would probably do you a favour as it will save you a breakdown in the future by having it replaced.
  6. Changing the radiator is easy, very easy. Grove Garage are very good, I'd certainly recommend them.
  7. Ooh you lucky person, Darth Vader with wheels, looks fab!
  8. You've been a busy boy! Does that mean yours had air suspension and you've replaced it with springs, or am I just misunderstanding what you're saying? I bet you can't wait for next Spring. Will you sneak in occasionally and talk to it, maybe make it some cocoa!!🍵
  9. I know, I'm just being lazy! Actually, when it comes to good visibility I guess there's no room for laziness.
  10. Well I did get a grip and bought a set of trim removal tools. As it happens you were right about the front of the switches popping off, they came off easily. Obviously it doesn't give access to the wiring etc but that wasn't what I wanted, all I needed was to remove the little piece of loose plastic from inside. It was a tiny piece, probably been there for years. Thanks for the advice!
  11. It's just the way the outside of the glass isn't cleared when it's wet by lowering the windows, some cars it seems are just made that way.
  12. You silly boy! Better to be a plonker than have to cough up for repairs though eh?
  13. I've had to put up with numb fingers on the way to work. My last estate car was a Vectra, and just as I arrived at the door of my workshop (5 miles from home) the first hint of something vaugly warm came through. I do find the perforated leather seats take slightly longer to heat up than electric elements. My Volvo has perforated seats as well and I'm sure the older electric ones heated faster, although on a positive note the Volvo ones could freeze your hind quaters in the summer!
  14. 2 degrees here on the Sussex coast this morning and just one minute along the road and warm air was coming through which is pretty impressive. But alas, the side windows needed the hands on approach!
  15. I'd be doing the same as the LS430 would likely suffer more from storage.
  16. Steady on now, it's only a car!! Mind you, it looks like someone got a real gem.
  17. I think Volvo are fab cars, and quite honestly the one that I have is a joy to drive, 185bhp diesel with a 6 speed auto box, and it feels solid and secure on the road, and of course they have a great safety history.
  18. Have you checked the voltage to the battery when the engine is running, a faulty alternator could produce the symptoms you describe.
  19. The blue MK4 from the Isle of Man that just sold on eBay looked like a good example of rare genuine one, the photos look superb. It certainly didn't hang around long!
  20. Stop nagging me in the privacy of my own smart phone! Thanks for the links, I'm going to order them over the weekend.... I'm sure I am..
  21. I'm just going to treat myself and buy some. As it happens I was a shop today where I could have got them, but I forgot!
  22. I have been meaning to get some, in fact I've been meaning to get some for years, which only proves my wife right, I do procrastinate! Still, it's worth being guilty of that minor crime just to be able to use a word like "procrastinate"!
  23. Well I tried to get some info today but alas it wasn't forthcoming. Apparently the guy who does it comes down from London but they get 4or5 customer's cars in at once to make it worth his while. So, sorry I wasn't much help on this occasion as he's not down for some time. I was told that he charges around £80 to do 2 bolsters and the centre console. I've no idea if that's good or bad. If he does appear in the near future I will quiz him.
