  1. Whoops, sorry I missed that. However, it would seem that we both have great minds as we clearly think alike!
  2. I once had my air con serviced/regassed by Halfords, never again. The girl doing it looked like she should be at school still, a couple of weeks later I needed a new compressor. Coincidence, hmmm
  3. In a strange kind of way I like it as well, I wouldn't mind getting behind the wheel and having some fun with it!
  4. I wonder if an insurance company may find a way out of paying up after a serious accident if the tyre pressures were below manufacturers recommendations. On the subject of braking with the left foot, I've always done it with an auto, it feels completely natural.
  5. On my last LS430 a height sensor was saved by by taking it apart, cleaning and resealing. It's mostly water ingress that causes the problem, and at £320 each it's certainly worth trying if you have a problem with them.
  6. What an excellent result, well done. Why aren't my car problems ever that straightforward!!!
  7. You really need to have it up on a lift, that way you can manually adjust the height of the sensors, that will at least tell you if that's the problem.
  8. I second the comment on chrome tips, I bought some a while ago, they looked fine for about a month!
  9. All the sounds/sensations you mention are as above, related to the ABS. I had it on my first LS but I never got around to sorting it. If I remember correctly the ABS has a sensor which becomes defective or becomes gunked up so needs cleaning. As far as I know it's not a major issue.
  10. Very nice, and as I mentioned to someone when it was for sale last year, not a bad reg number if your name was John!
  11. A leak in an engine can get worse when the temperature rises and the metal expands. Keep a close watch on the coolant and oil levels, also the temperature gauge, see if it rises a little higher than usual, I think you have to rule out the head gasket before replacing other parts.
  12. I'm in West Sussex and travel regularly down the A24, I'll be looking out for you, the Corvette is my all-time favourite car!
  13. It is of course possible that it's not the head gasket, it's just the first thing that came to mind when you mentioned white smoke. See what responses you get later from other IS owners, there's been much discussion on the subject with lots of good info. Because Lexus are so aware of the issue I'm surprised they didn't mention it as a possibility, unless they did check it of course.
  14. Welcome to the LOC Gareth. Sadly white smoke is a common sign of head gasket failure, unfortunately very common with your model. Have you had that checked out?
  15. The body shop where I work generally charge £150 for an average size panel, and it would blend perfectly, although if your foot is really as long as it is in the photo you deserve to have it done for free! The good thing is that it doesn't look dented which helps.
  16. With an old girl like mine it's lost £62 in depreciation every single week from new, fortunately not from my pocket! I wouldn't like to imagine what the depreciation, fuel and maintenance adds up to after 120k.
  17. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet (whatever that means) we're all very interested to know what the problem is. I hope it works out costing you just an arm (or less) that way you can save the leg for a rainy day!
  18. The Audi's refinement will soon be forgotten if you buy an LS, they are surely the most refined cars ever built, driving one will immediately confirm it! Be warned though, once you've owned one anything else will be like the second pressing of the grape!
  19. I can't help thinking you need to take it to a competent mechanic or main dealer to get a proper diagnosis. Driving it with an unidentified noise could cause further and more serious problems. You may be fortunate enough to find it's not something major. Keep us posted though.
  20. I'm surprised Halfords had the knowledge to fit them, they certainly aren't the easiest to get to. Any idea how long it took them?
  21. It was another LS430 but it was the MK4 LS400 prior to that which tried to despatch me by fitting me out with a heavy metal hat.
  22. My wife would probably tell you it knocked some sense into me, bur clearly it didn't as I'm on my third LS since it happened! It was nasty though as it was the corner of the bonnet that hit me.
  23. Before I replaced the bonnet struts on a previous LS it came crashing down on my head, very nearly knocked me out!
