  1. Just curious as to whether any member had looked at the pale green car that didn't sell. It looked good in the pictures and with low mileage but only got as high as £1,250 which didn't make the reserve.
  2. I did have to check to see if it was April! I must say I don't have any trouble with cold feet, the heating seems fine to me.
  3. Mine blows plenty of warm air on my size 10's. Do you have the climate set to auto? If so heat tends to come from the face vents first. Have you tried doing the controls manually to see if warm air blows in both footwells?
  4. I've noticed that when ordering tyres some say "rim protection" certainly something worth looking for.
  5. I've got four 18" Avon's on my Volvo, bought from BC's and I highly recommend them. The previous tyres, although with good tread were Michelin and they tramlined really badly. The Avon's run dead straight and have excellent grip. And they're made in the UK.
  6. Quite honestly I don't think the price is too bad either, especially as it'll save all the hassle of trying to improvise or adapt one.
  7. This is what happened when I replaced the radiators on both of my LS430's. The original one had a hose connection at the end which went to the expansion tank, 10mm if I remember correctly, but the new ones didn't, but the small pipe below the filler cap (as in the above picture) on the original rad was solid, in other words blocked. On the replacement one the pipe was open, so I just connected a longer piece of hose from that to the expansion tank. Approximately 10k miles later and all is fine. Hopefully that made some sense!
  8. Loads of people seem to have it at the moment, a chest infection that is, not my car! I remember when I last saw your LS, it made wonder why I ever got rid of mine.
  9. Are you sure it wasn't just your reflection in a shop window!!
  10. I think you shouldn't be put off by any bad reports, any car of this age will suffer but I think due to the Lexus build it should suffer less. The problem is getting a genuine one and not one that's being sold due to an underlying problem. I was fortunate enough to find one that was owned and garaged by the last owner for over 10 years, and with full main dealer history, and it was immediately apparent when I went to view it that it was well looked after, so they can be found. It just takes time. Having said all that mine may be going this year as pension age has finally caught up with me!
  11. How good is your battery? Lots of posts regarding electrical problems due to a battery beginning to fail. Have you checked the voltage being produced by the alternator?
  12. I had a Vauxhall estate that was written off 5 years ago, I bought it back and had it repaired and ended up with a £1,000 in my pocket. Maybe worth trying.
  13. I agree, I'm sure that can be repaired. Clearly better than repairing the even larger hole that Lexus would put in your pocket!
  14. Well at least you're not sub 20 as I am! It would be fab to have a luxury car that did close to 40 (without being deisel that is)
  15. Welcome to the LOC James. I don't think I would be concerned about the oil pressure light unless it came on on its own when the engine is running. I can't see why low coolant would stop it from starting but I would be concerned about where the coolant is going as it could have some bearing on why it won't start. Does it leave any small puddles on the ground?
  16. Remember to wear black and remove your hat as she moves on to the land of pale coloured beer and fine chocolate. I hope the new purchase will serve you just as well!
  17. The next thing you know they'll be calling MEP's human and giving them legal status. I wonder if my dog will ever get legal status, I need to be nicer to her, give her longer walks...just in case...
  18. Being auto with wide tyres, rear wheel drive and a powerful engine is not a good combo, and as for the snow button...What a pointless thing that is. I'm much more confident in my Volvo with front wheel drive. Actually, I'm even more confident walking!
  19. Difficult starting when hot, uneven running/revs, completely cutting out and many other problems. It's amazing what one little sensor can affect. I wouldn't waste my money unless I had a problem, they rarely play up.
  20. I did all the work on my MK2, and as you say, all very do-able. I think some people get the idea that a main dealer will plug your car into a very high tec computer which will be way beyond the scope and understanding of most, for that reason servicing can be a scary DIY proposition. Of course that isn't the case, a reasonable knowledge is all you need, and of course the aforementioned service schedule. If I had the space I would still do my own servicing/maintenance, especially as I enjoy it! However, since I stopped doing my own I can report that all of my knuckles have remained well attached to my fingers!!
  21. I'd be very surprised if you needed a new condenser. I replaced one of my compressors with a unit from a breakers (£75) and all was fine, especially as the LS one was around £800! If you find a used one take John's advice and ideally get it taken off the vehicle rather than buy one that's been lying around for ages, which apart from anything will dry the seals.
  22. Sadly by the time that lovely looking beast is affordable on my budget I'll be dribbling down my shirt and always sitting on my glasses (assuming I'll have the strength to stand up in the first place) I'll also be too old to get insurance!
  23. And how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful county. I spent 6 very peaceful years living in the hamlet of Munderfield near Bromyard where my bedroom looked out to the Malvern Hills!
