  1. I think is was simply lack of service, the oil was dark (unusual for an LS) and also very low.
  2. Although it is rare it happened on an LS400 that I owned for a very brief period last year. Whenever I started from cold it would produce an uncomfortable amount of blue smoke. I put it down to valve stem seals, this was clearly due to lack of servicing from the previous owner.
  3. Welcome to the LOC. Yours is the same colour as mine, and when cleaned looks brilliant! I think it's the best colour LS there is.
  4. That's jogged my memory, I did see a silver one in the car park of a block of flats on the sea front some time ago. You know the way it happens, I bet I see him everywhere now!
  5. Well done, very unlikely you'll be disappointed, it will spoil you for anything else mind!
  6. I know, I sold my last LS430 and convinced myself that having just one nice car would do...that didn't work!
  7. Well that's possibly scuppered my plans! Because I'm changing things business wise this year (hoping to do less hours basically) I thought I would part with my LS430 and become a sensible person and just enjoy my very nice Volvo, which it is. Now I'm having to think again and wondering after reading all this if I'm going to miss it too much!!
  8. Strangely enough, I've been working in Brighton for a few days and seen two LS400's, a MK3 and a MK4, both looking very sorry for themselves.
  9. It was the same in my motorcycle days back in the 70's, always a wave from other bikers, well I think it was a wave...
  10. Haha, no he didn't wave, it was all very fleeting, I turned off almost as soon as he appeared! I do keep seeing a nice late silver X reg MK4 locally though.
  11. Driving along and the car behind me was a silver LS430, I've never seen another in Worthing, and rarely in West Sussex. So it means that won't happen again for another 10 years, unless of course they suddenly become like London buses!!
  12. I don't know if this has been posted before by I've not seen it. Very interesting to see what we lost and what the Japanese gained!
  13. I did get one from a breakers for my LS400 which I paid £75 for and it was fine, I agree though that if it's a keeper it's worth getting one with a warranty.
  14. I ask myself the same question, what if I had an accident, or worse, I injured someone? I don't think a court would accept changing email addresses as mitigating circumstances!
  15. I was mortified when I got a letter from them at the end of November to say my Volvo wasn't insured. We changed our email address and didn't think about my insurance renewal coming via email, 3 months I drove without insurance, including a trip to Cornwall!!
  16. I agree, you can buy the four for around £700, and by all accounts a fairly straightforward job, the worst being the removal of the rear seat.
  17. I do agree, the LS400 is very easy on the eye! I agree about the later body shape too, and for me the LS430 was the last of the "classic" limo shape from Lexus. And as I'm nearing the stage where I want to slow down with work, I'm guessing my pocket will confirm that it remains the last classic shape for me! It really was my first ever sighting of an LS that did it for me, I thought it was American, and having always loved American cars the next step was an obvious one!
