  1. Dacia have come a long way. I was working in Romania in the mid 90's and they were dreadful cars, not so any more. And I have the same problem as you transporting our greyhound. I would love to take the LS when we have one of our regular trips to Cornwall, but my estate car is the only sensible option, although our dog is always more relaxed on the back seat of the Lexus for some reason.
  2. Me and my wife will be in Hay on Wye in a few weeks time, I'll leave mine unlocked then!! I must say that when I lived in Herefordshire there didn't seem to be any problems (unlike when I lived in London)
  3. I think to go into the ins and outs of the function of the torque converter within the auto box would take ages and confuse most (including me) I love an auto box. I've been driving a manual Sprinter van for the past few days, can't wait to give my left foot a rest in the Ls tomorrow!
  4. Welcome onboard. I've always liked the GS300, and I think if my LS goes south I'll maybe find myself in the market for one. Glad you're working again!
  5. I'm really looking forward to him getting one, hopefully this year some time. You've done a great job there, looks brilliant.
  6. Looking great. A friend of mine is in the market for an SC430, and he lives near me so I'm looking forward to getting in the drivers seat.
  7. Beautiful, I love the colour, and the wheels are fab, they suit it so much. Harvey Specter drives one and if you've ever watched Suits you'll know he doesn't settle for anything but the best!!
  8. I think that's right, people who don't know Lexus seem afraid of them and aren't aware of their amazing reliability and build quality. It's surprising how many don't even know who the manufacturer is.
  9. If it's as good as it looks and sounds it's almost to the point of ridiculously cheap. It's from the period where build quality was excellent! 17 years old with two owners is always a good sign as well.
  10. I passed my driving test in 1972 and I've had sooo many cars, some for just a few weeks. Interestingly, the car that I've kept the second longest was my 92 LS400. The car that I probably loved the most was a 1959 VW beetle, a marvelous little thing that cost £125!
  11. Oh yes, been there. The fact that you could open them with a suitcase key didn't help!
  12. It has separate shoes for the parking brake, whereas the majority of cars use the pads or shoes. As long as it passes an MOT I'd leave it alone, I've never replaced or even adjusted any of mine.
  13. It is a slightly weak point on these cars but only a minor one. I've had 5 LS's and none of the parking brakes have ever felt great, although they all passed their MOT. They can be adjusted but I'm not sure using it more will improve it. I always use mine because it prevents it seizing.
  14. I'm assuming he means emergency brake/parking brake, all the LS400's have them, as do the 430's.
  15. My wife often says I could go back or forwards more because it sticks out, until she looks at the other end! And it does seem strange at a time when cars seem to get bigger that parking spaces get smaller.
  16. I often find my rear bumper is way ahead of me when I'm parking! I parked on a meter in Chelsea a couple of weeks ago, what joy to find one at the end of a row of spaces, it saved having to do a fifty point manoeuvre. As for Gatwick airport, now that's a challenge.
  17. Surely I'm due for comission. My post has not only promoted Scottish touring holidays but also various insect repellents!! I spotted a rare site here in Worthing this week, an R reg MK4. You don't realise how long they are until you see them in a supermarket carpark.
  18. Of course it is. My mistake, I actually went to Vision Express, and now I'm paying the price!
  19. That's impressive, where's the buffet car though? I can't see it in the photo!
