  1. I'm exactly the same, and any excuse to drive will do. I've had so many cars since I passed my test in 1972 but none have given the same pleasure. My Volvo was a 40k car when new, and still only done 48k miles, a multitude of bells and whistles, lovely to drive, but an LS it's not! Very practical with a dog though.
  2. I think you would see it and feel it if a strut was as you say, bottoming out. It may be a duff height sensor. Can you see a noticeable difference in height at standstill? Does it go down at the rear when parked overnight? It doesn't necessarily mean it's coming from the suspension.
  3. Welcome to the LOC George, you've made a great choice. And if I don't say it someone else will, photos please!
  4. That's what I'm hoping to be enlightened on, and if so, do I need a laptop with loads of memory like I did with Volvo?
  5. I agree, a green LS is superb. And you're right about the paintwork. I don't do anything special to mine but somebody said recently that they always admire the shine on mine and said it must be excellent paint!
  6. And that's another reason for keeping the forum civil, life's far too short.
  7. As my post, which was supposed to be an encouragement to LS430 owners has been well and truly highjacked, I suggest one of the mods closes it. We've had far too much of this kind of ping pong over the years! 😉
  8. Likewise. I think it's a great system compared to the way it used to be.
  9. I think this is something I'll look at for my LS. I've recently installed Volvo Vida/Dice which requires 3gb of memory and only installs on Windows 7 Professional. It cost £66 and is brilliant. It not only gives great detail re problems but comes up with an image of the part required/causing issues. It took someone with far greater computer skills than me to work out how to install it, but it's all working fine.
  10. It does seem strange for a main dealer. I could maybe understand if it had very low mileage, and 10k? Surely that nearly double its value.
  11. Well now, the price wasn't something I even noticed. The point of mentioning this was simply to consider the mileage and the fact it still apperntly runs like new. It says much about the build quality. Personally I would think 2k with that mileage would be enough. It also means I have a potential 200+k to go! Although a tail light failure warning came on yesterday, disgusting!!
  12. This certainly encourages me, especially when you read about the negatives of these cars. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS430-2006-IMMACULATE-CONDITION-MOT-2018-JUNE-REGISTERED-27-06-06-/202024197578?hash=item2f09949dca:g:25QAAOSwJehZladv
  13. Unfortunately I have to confess to making this a fairly regular habit! I put it down to it being a big old car that other drivers don't understand. I feel it's my duty as a road user to educate others, and I believe it's a lesson I've taught well. I'd be interested to know how much of the horsepower has diminished in 16 years because it doesn't feel like much has gone.
  14. And the seller says new "breaks" all round, that's worrying!!
  15. Superb, I love the colour! And what a well educated and wise 4 year old, she'll go far!!
  16. It is so different to everything else out there. If I was in the market for a two seater I wouldn't hesitate. For me the midlife bit is now history! The motoring public generally know very little about Lexus. I'm often asked who makes them. I'm also often asked if mine is a 3litre, so I always take pleasure in saying it's a 4.3. Does your daughter like being in it!
  17. Couldn't agree more. How do you find the SC430? A friend of mine is in the market for one and after another member kindly took the time to give him a spin he's smitten!
  18. Excellent news. Mine past last month with no advisories as well, just one year senior to yours!
  19. As you say, overpriced but what a beauty. And just look at those rear seats, I still say they're the best ever!
