  1. I did a similar thing, sold my LS430 and bought a very high spec Volvo V70 two years ago with 33k. Lovely car, but not long after I missed the LS so much I bought another! Now I've got two cars again but the LS will always be my first choice when I go anywhere. They really get under your skin! I drove a friend somewhere in it this week, it's so quiet he said it sounds like an electric car!
  2. I really think that up to 2K should be taken off that price, or maybe even a bit more. I think it's priced high due to the mileage, but it's not that important on these cars, good service history is more so.
  3. Which goes to prove what my old maths teacher told was true, "must pay more attention"!!
  4. Looks nice but I don't like what they've done under the bonnet. Second thoughts, they've put the wrong picture in!
  5. I've been pulling my hair out for weeks with a random alarm on my Volvo V70. In the end I had to bite the bullet and take it to a main dealer who diagnosed a rear door lock as the problem. I've just fitted one at a cost of £250 (they wanted £420) I know Lexus charge an arm and two legs but it may be worth getting a diagnostic, that should tell you which sensor is triggering it.
  6. Lovely colour combo. Doesn't it just make you slightly concerned though when they say "immaculate condition for age"
  7. Thankfully I got mine just before the owner put it on the dreaded eBay! You get an immediate feeling about cars, and as soon as I saw mine I told myself I would pay the full asking price if need be (which I didn't!)
  8. I once traveled from Sussex to Birmingham to view an LS400 which turned out to be good. I actually enjoyed the train journey with my wife when it was time to pick it up. Had it been a duffer I'd have been really annoyed! Fortunately my current one was in Guildford which is only 40 mins. This will always be the problem with rare cars, the need to cover some miles to find them.
  9. That should get you a nice facelift model, 53/54 plate. Good luck with your search and we look forward to some photos in due course!
  10. I saw him on Sunday and he said he's spotted one for sale, I've not heard anything else yet. I'm planning on taking my LS up to Yorkshire when I go in November.
  11. Frustrating though eh? It would nice if one of the suggestions posted had hit the spot.
  12. And having seen it in the flesh/metal I can confirm it looks the biz!
  13. I mention wheel bearing because you say it happens when steering. Generally it will be the side that sounds when steering in that direction as it puts more pressure and weight on that side. Getting it raised up and checking for play/binding/rumbling will give a good indication.
  14. Wheel bearing would be my bet. Or tyre out of shape. Or brake caliper.
  15. No difference, so buying on condition and history is good advice.
  16. Doesn't look bad at all does it, apart from the scabby wheels! That would look lovely with a new set though.
  17. Both. The problem with the 430 is it's more complicated than the 400 which means various repairs/maintenance may get overlooked or simply left. I was lucky to get one with full main dealer history and always garaged, so they are out there but it takes time and the need to travel (and often you'll be disappointed) Late 400's are becoming very sort after. As has been mentioned, I wouldn't be too concerned about mileage as long as the history backs it up. Maybe consider a GS? It's something I may think about in due course.
  18. I think in all honesty you may have to raise your budget by about 1k. A low mileage example with good history is always sort after, and getting rare.
  19. A slightly different car but ordered front and rear Pagid pads for my wife's Astra, £31 all in. Nice one!
  20. In my thankfully limited dealings with insurance companies it seems that everything you mention is counted against you, your fault or not!
  21. Couldn't open the video! I think because they're so rare people just don't know or understand the LS, for that reason many just stay well clear of them.
  22. Prices really vary widely don't they? And some are clearly well over priced.
  23. I bought the Transcend drive pro 200, had it about 4 years and I can't fault it. Small, excellent image. I just push the wire around and under the trim and plug it in a 12v socket/lighter. The only important thing is to buy the optional windscreen sucker as the one it comes with is rubbish. I think it's about £80 or so. Personally I can't see how you could get much better for the money but I'm sure others will disagree!
