  1. I bet that wasn't repeated on the return journey with the real voice of common sense sitting next to you!! These cars do have an annoying way of pleading for release don't they? Being an even older git staring mid 60's in the face I can only say it doesn't go away! I've just had a very pleasant traffic free drive to Brighton and back, only just over an hour but still a very enjoyable car to do it in, plus 32 MPG which is definitely a figure you wouldn't have seen at 110mph! Naughty boy.
  2. All I can say is every LS I've owned has done it. The current one had new Blueprint discs and pads last year. It's only very slight but I hear it just as I take my foot off the brakes to move forward. It's also had new front calipers and they move freely. My last Vauxhall did it as well. My MK4 was the most noticeable and that had new discs. To be honest it doesn't bother me really.
  3. Much depends on driving conditions. Mine is a pre-facelift (5 speed) and very recently I managed 36.5 mpg on a trip up to Bradford at 65-75mph. So I reckon 450 miles to a tank is achievable.
  4. The thing that never ceases to amaze me is the turning circle. It's far better than the Corsa my wife once had. If for some reason mine doesn't sell I think I may take it on a trip to Austria in the spring. The grumble from the front brakes is normal really, mine does it and so has every LS I've owned.
  5. No idea why this other part of the post has appeared!
  6. About an inch for the suspension, you really don't notice it much at all.
  7. Have you ever known a subject NOT to go off topic! Me neither.
  8. I can't help thinking this topic is suffering from a severe case of the Richard Turpin's!!🏇
  9. I will do, although as much as I love the colour of yours it may just be a tad over budget.
  10. I think I'll be looking at an 06/07. If I pay any more I'll have too much explaining to do with my wife!
  11. So there won't be pistols at dawn as you and me fight for it?!!
  12. I love it! If money was no object that would be in my motoring arsenal!
  13. I couldn't agree more. I used this one just as an example to see which MK it was. The way the interior is kept says a lot to me about how a car is cared for, I wouldn't even bother with this one.
  14. I'm also thinking of various rubber parts/bushes. Down here in the south we don't tend to get really cold nights, by that I mean below -2. If we do it doesn't last long. For that reason I wonder if rubber is affected more in colder climates like parts of Scotland? Or should I just stick to carpentry?!!
  15. So this is a MK3? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-LEXUS-GS300-SE-AUTO-SALOON-AUTO-07-REG-ONLY-DONE-64K-WITH-FULL-S-HISTORY/232585346608?hash=item36272abe30:g:whcAAOSwX-pZsmFX
  16. So when did the mk's 1, 2, and 3 come in, I mean what years? There's a big difference between tax from 2005, after that it really jumps.
  17. I could be wrong, but it would be my guess that keeping a car garaged would contribute greatly to some parts lasting where on others they fail, including the windows which can delaminate. If it spends a third of its life protected from the elements, it seems to make sense to me. As someone once said, we're at the lower end of the motoring food chain with these cars, but at least they go wrong far less than anything else comparable. I've not had a major bill in 9 years with either LS, not bad going!
  18. I did end up buying Pagid as replies were in short supply! And I agree, I can't think of an easier car to fit pads on.
  19. When I get a chance I'll go out and play with mine to see what it does.
  20. For what it's worth my 16 year old LS is in top shape, no reason to sell it at all. The reason I'm now looking to sell it is to buy a later GS300 which will cost me more to tax, the only reason....I want too!
  21. From what I can make out it's £520 for a non hybrid, but £320 for the earlier one (2005). Strange really considering my V8 which is 16 years old is only £270.
  22. I don't suppose the rear AC has been capped off at some stage has it? It's not too uncommon if the rear pipes have corroded.
