  1. Never ever used the sunroof on any car that has AC so I don't really see the point. Now I've got that image of your head sparking in my mind!!
  2. I paid £5,600. I know I could have got one for a bit less but I believe the one I have is as good as it's possible to get.
  3. I think the gen 3 is a much nicer shape. I got 38mpg on my way back from Bournemouth doing 70-80 so I'm more than happy with that.
  4. To be honest it was being in friends IS250c that made me think about changing, the dash is very similar, and the quality is fantastic. As I've said, I'll always have a soft spot for the LS, but I'm so smitten with the GS (so far) that I can't see me going back to one.
  5. The other advantage over the 06 plates I saw advertised is the tax as it's £300-is as opposed to £520. Daft really as it's the same car as far as I can see.
  6. Thanks for the comments chaps! The dealer also had the wheels professionally refurbed and it has excellent Michelin tyres. Apparently one of the two partners is a member of the LOC, they specialise in Lexus (Trust motor company Bournemouth) They had a couple of lovely IS on the forecourt. Actually, I think they're the best used car dealers I've ever dealt with, all cars beautifully prepped. It's a shame not all dealers are like it! Well worth the 85 mile trip. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a used Lexus, no hard sell, just very laid back but professional.
  7. That's true enough, although the GS boot is still large. As I generally look like a vagrant I don't tend to use much luggage space when going away, thus giving ample space for my wife's bags!
  8. I've posted some pictures in the GS section. I think it really is a great contender for an LS owner who maybe wants something a tad more modern, or like me, just fancying a change. It certainly doesn't feel like the second pressing of the grape compared to an LS, they're both great cars.
  9. In many ways it feels very similar going from an LS to a GS. It's still a big car. The road noise I would say is similar, many of the toys are the same, I still have a rear blind but not vibrating seats (which I never got to use). The build quality feels better, the doors close with a wonderful sound! Cabin noise is very low, fuel consumption is much better and it's only about half a second slower to 60. The ride is great, roundabouts no longer feel like a boat on water with much less body roll. The interior would compete with anything made today. It's a real pleasure to drive. Saying all that, I love the LS and will always have a soft spot for it! The one I've bought has been impeccably maintained which must help with the overall feel. Seats are still very comfortable. Music system isn't ML but still excellent.
  10. I will give it another try, I'm sure it's just a case of knowing how!
  11. This is the third GS I've seen, and in all honesty it's hard to see how I could have found a better one. It really is just about in showroom condition. 68k full Lexus history. Maybe not everyone's choice but I particularly wanted cream leather. Hopefully this will be our means of getting to Austria in the spring.
  12. Like an idiot I didn't think of doing it manually! Thanks for that. Sorry for not taking your advice on a hybrid but I have got a gem. I got 38mpg coming back the 85 miles from Bournemouth, and that was at speed so I'm more than happy with that.
  13. Hi John, no I haven't really mentioned it but I will post some photos, maybe today if the rain holds off!
  14. After picking up my 05 GS300 yesterday I paired my android phone with the car but can't seem to transfer my contacts. Is this likely to be just a problem between the ages of the technology? I'm not that bothered but it would be nice to be able to do it.

  16. I have to say I thought I would say the same about a step back in quality, but after just buying a 2005 GS I believe the quality is equal or even better.
  17. Looks OK, although I've seen some bad examples lately when the seller says they're great! Shame about the tinted windows, just doesn't work for me. Serviced at the same dealer as yours Martin!
  18. I had a leak on my 93 LS400 which turned out to be the O ring between the body and the reservoir. It's a common place for them to leak from. Hopefully that's what it'll be. A fairly easy job, and cheap!
  19. Naturally young man. I pick it up on Wednesday hopefully so I'll take some pics if the weather's decent.
  20. Interestingly I put a deposit on a silver Lexus today, I can easily understand how a fetish may grow from it.
  21. If it makes you feel any better I can see the reason you thought that.......just.
