  1. That's scary, although there are many, many pre 06 for sale with very high mileage.
  2. I don't personally know but they'll be others that respond who may be able to help. The thing with alloy is it just doesn't bend. See what others suggest anyway, there are lots of knowledgeable people on this forum.
  3. It just goes to show you can't believe everything you read! Any other issues worth a mention? I'm really enjoying the car, it's amazing how up to date it looks and feels.
  4. This is just my opinion, but I would try to find another wheel. I wouldn't risk it. And welcome to the LOC!
  5. It really varies, some have loads of creaks, some none. Before I bought the one I have I tried a 55 reg GS300 with scabby wheels and some panel damage but no creaks. On the same day I tried an almost immaculate 55 reg GS430 and it sounded like the Mary Rose at sea. This is the rubber I put between the dash and windscreen that made all the difference. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W002-uPVC-Window-Door-Wedge-Gasket-Double-Glazing-Rubber-Repair-Seal-PVC/232010232733?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=531203808284&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 While I'm at it, I read a review that said the GS uses oil, is this anyone's experience?
  6. It does look nice. I think Cat D's are fine if the info regarding the repair is available. I had a car written off once for minor damage, it fixed up as good as new.
  7. Ah, I see. Thanks for that info, you just learn so much from the LOC!
  8. My Suspension is OK, but reading various posts about the cost of replacement and the difficulty finding suppliers other than a main dealer made me wonder. Are these no good? They don't seem particularly expensive to me. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-RIGHT-OS-SHOCK-ABSORBER-STRUT-DAMPER-For-LEXUS-GS300-GS350-2005-New/252951844520?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Cars+Year%3A2006&hash=item3ae51ad6a8:g:II4AAOSw4A5YnacC https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-GAS-SHOCK-ABSORBER-STRUT-PAIR-For-LEXUS-GS300-GS350-2005-LH-RH/253225624685?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Cars+Year%3A2006&hash=item3af56c646d:g:UucAAOSwACZZp9~b
  9. My dash creaked a lot, and I've discovered it's fairly common. I bought some black rubber used in double glazing, just the right size for pushing between the dash and windscreen. It took one minute and the creak has gone!
  10. I'm an hour from Southampton, I could pick it up for you!
  11. And does your dash creak? And apart from the above would you recommend one?
  12. Drop Steve 2006 a pm, he's familiar with the broken links and was even making them at one time. I'm sure he'll be able to put you right, just as I'm sure he won't mind me mentioning him!
  13. French cars have never done much for me but that, beautiful. I've always loved it. Someone round here has a deep burgundy one, fully restored, it's just superb. And why can't they retro build it like the Beetle or the Fiat 500?
  14. True enough, like the cars I had when I first started driving, looking down to see the road beneath me.
  15. I'm a bit like you in your thinking. The reason I wanted an LS in the first place is because of the classic limo look. To me that went after the demise of the LS430. All LS's up to that point looked fantastic to me. I have seen the new LS which of course is a beautiful machine that is light years away from my budget, but it doesn't do for me what the earlier ones did. Just as well really, by the time I could afford one someone would be spoon feeding me boiled fish for dinner!
  16. Well done Mike. Piddly advisories for a car of that age. Most other makes would have a list as long as a giraffe's trousers!
  17. As far as I'm aware the bank 1 sensor is fairly straightforward (I hope) bank 2 means a massive amount of work removing the passenger seat, how ridiculous. I see on some US forums they simply cut and join the wires making sure they're water tight saving 2 hours or more of back aching work. I'm going to make sure it's definitely the sensor before attempting it.
  18. Thanks for taking the time (and everyone that's contributed) At least I know my bank 1 upstream sensor is OK for a bit! And I think the downstream sensor is a tad cheaper.
  19. So when the code indicates bank 1 sensor 2 is that referring to the drivers side? In which case the wrong sensor has been replaced which explains a lot. it also explains Roberts questioning about a Jaguar specialist looking at it!
  20. That would explain a lot! I did contact my local Toyota dealer who sometimes get me Lexus parts and they did say it was the upstream sensor that was bank one. Now I'm really confused!!
  21. It is the upstream sensor that's been replaced. Bank 1 sensor 2 (the drivers side) The faulty sensor was also verified by erasing the code and then disconnecting the sensor and diagnosing again if that makes sense.
  22. It's only what I was told but a new filter and the correct oil can never be a bad thing. I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about unless it happens daily.
  23. As far as I'm aware the exhaust system is good. The last main dealer service was 2k ago and I would hope any exhaust problem would have been identified! The VSC check was on again this morning, then an hour later it wasn't. I scanned it and it came back with PO138 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 which is the one replaced. The mystery continues.
  24. That's what I'm thinking, in which case why does it come back on. I saw the new part and I was there for the fitting.
