  1. Thanks Colin, I'll make sure everything else is checked before considering replacement. Strange how it can go for days without showing a fault.
  2. Yes, I understand that most will be re-manufactured, I just thought the price is good for someone who just wants to replace them without the hassle of doing it themselves. Mine are OK but it gives me peace of mind knowing that if they do need replacing it can be done without having to sell the family silver. Just as well really as we don't have any family silver!
  3. A droning sound especially at around 50mph could well be from a tyre. I've had this twice and both times it was a tyre out of shape, even though it looked fine tread wise. It sounded like a bearing or similar but completely went with new tyres.
  4. Annoyingly I bought front and rear pads when it was 35%. Not that I need them yet, which makes me wonder why I bought them. I guess I'm just a girl who can't say no!
  5. In an idle moment I was looking at ECP website and noticed they are selling (with the discount code) a pair of rear Pagid calipers for £277. Looks like a good price doesn't it? Actually, I think it's even less than that because there's a £35 surcharge until the old ones are returned. They may be reconditioned but it looks good to me.
  6. I've just ordered one as a precaution because mine is looking a tad cracked all round. Lots of posts on the US forums about VSC check due to poorly fitting caps. I don't think it's got anything to do with my light being on (although its been off for a couple of days) but it doesn't hurt to have a new one.
  7. As it happens Mark I've just ordered a fuel cap gasket as a precaution, £13 for a rubber ring!!
  8. Thanks Norman. This is the one that needs replacing, and it looks like the exhaust may follow! Although I guess that's expected after nearly 13 years. I think I'm right in saying the cowl is part of the sensor and not a separate item?
  9. As I'm sure you're all getting bored with my sensor questions I'll make this the last! The passenger side means the nasty job of removing the seat, so what about the drivers side which is my iffy sensor. How is that done? The connector still has to go up through the floorpan.
  10. What did it drive like, any knocks or groans? Headlamp washers I believe are an MOT failure if they don't work with the HID lights.
  11. That's really helpful thank you. So as I understand it, standing at the front of the car, cylinder number 1 is front left?
  12. Maybe someone can answer this. On Rock Auto's website they list the sensors as right and left side. So would that be looking from the front meaning left side would be the drivers side in the UK?
  13. From what I can understand the gen 2 ended in 05 when the gen 3 was launched, so I'm a bit wary. The 06 sensor on Rock Auto is different to the 05 if that makes sense.
  14. I have discovered their over counter prices before I must admit. However, the online price is the same so I can only think someone's made a mistake!
  15. I called in at Eurocarparts yesterday to ask for a price for a post cat sensor and was quoted £325! That can't be right surely.
  16. Thanks for the info, and as it happens that exactly where we were thinking of ( Český Krumlov ) My brother went there last year and loved it. It would only be a brief day trip as it's only about 120 miles from Vienna, and all our other hotels are now booked. I'll certainly be reporting back!
  17. I'm happy to view anything that's reasonably accessible from the Brighton area if that helps.
  18. I'm sure you could find a 400 within budget, it would be every bit as comfortable and capable, perhaps even more reliable with a bit less to go wrong. It would double your chances of finding a car.
  19. It's just the way it goes, next week there could be loads. Sorry it didn't work out with mine, it was very much in demand! I'm doing a road trip myself in a couple of months, France, Germany, Austria and maybe the Czech republic. Had I not sold my LS I would have taken it, but hopefully the GS will serve me well. It's still spacious and very comfortable. Good luck with your search!
  20. That's good info. I've got one I apparently need to replace but just because it throws up a code showing which one, I'm still not convinced as the "check VSC" comes and goes.
  21. That's a very smart looking motor! I love the colour.
  22. Self employed carpenter for the past 35 years, looking at semi retirement but the work keeps coming in!
  23. I've only just sold my LS430 and I can tell you that you really don't need to measure it. The rear space is vast, even for the tallest person, and as the rear seats recline they can have a good nap!
  24. The creak/rattle does seem to more noticeable in the very cold weather.
