  1. That's a really good heads up for anyone looking for a fab RX, decent price too. Makes me wonder what little amount they paid you at the trade in!
  2. Well you may be lucky and get a fair LS400 but you'll need to move quickly if one comes up. The GS430 has the 4.3 engine but it's a much rarer car so they seem to be really sort after.
  3. You must be really frustrated! Still, your ordeal may be over during the weekend. I certainly share your thoughts on driving an LS in the snow, I did it once and that was enough.
  4. Time has a way of embellishing history, it was more than likely EPNS! Not a bad bit of off topic going on here, sorry Dennis.
  5. That's the video I followed. I did buy furniture pads but it actually worked out better with the velcro because it meant it could be put all round, just thin strips cut from a wide peice that I bought from Dunelm.
  6. And not forgetting the metal tea tray down the slopes and taking it back to mum all bent!
  7. I bought my GS300 in January and I also had the bad dash creak. I got some black rubber for sealing the inside of double glazing and pushed it down between the dash and windscreen, made a big difference. Last weekend I took out the radio/nav screen and lined it all with the fluffy side of self adhesive black velcro, easy enough and very effective. It is always worse when cold because the plastic is harder. There's a YouTube video of the procedure. If you decide to do it he shows 2 screws being removed but there are actually 4 as I discovered when I couldn't initially budge it! Well worth the effort, I went out this morning in minus 4 and no creak!
  8. Any idea what your budget may be? It'll help when it comes to suggesting your options.
  9. Have you checked the rocker covers, its not unknown on the LS.
  10. It sounds a tad more exotic than the kitchen I've been fitting today you lucky man!
  11. That reminds me of the times when I go to London, especially along the Fulham Road in Chelsea. You hear a roar from something like a Lamborghini as they accelerate for about 50 yards before they have to brake hard to avoid going into the back of a number 14 bus! Don't worry about us here in the freezing cold, I'm sure most of us will survive....
  12. I decided yesterday it made more sense to walk round to the local co-op to buy some nice ingredients for a cooked breakfast and stay at home. Slightly shamed by my wife who walked to work!
  13. People of course we're driving like lunatics this morning, one destroying a neighbour's fence, followed by someone else 30 mins later who was making sure the job was done properly!
  14. It doesn't look like I'll be playing around with it today as its buried under snow!
  15. Thanks all for the replies. I'll play around with it tomorrow and see what I can do with it.
  16. Interesting. So to explain to a fairly thick person when it comes to technology, what do I need to do/buy to use it? I've got an android phone.
  17. I was doing some fine tweaking of dash rattles today and this was buried under it all. The wire goes through to the centre storage box and has a USB port on the end. Is this just for charging or is it meant for something else as well? Ta.
  18. Good price! I'm not sure bonnet struts are an MOT failure but I do know how much it hurts when it crashes down on your head, nearly knocked me out!
  19. Well done, looks excellent. Dare I ask what you paid?
  20. You will unlikely see any problems visually with out of shape tyres. Try swapping them from the rear to see if it changes anything.
  21. Does that mean it was a Celsior and re-badged? It doesn't matter which car I own I'll always have a soft spot for an LS. I'll be surprised if I don't go back to one at some stage. The best cars I've ever owned.
  22. Do you still own it? As you say, lovely car.
  23. Good news. And was it the radiator coolant that did the damage?
  24. I agree, I wouldn't risk mine or my passengers lives with iffy steering parts. It is the price paid for owning these cars. They don't go wrong that often but when they do the price of parts can be painful.
