  1. One was seized apparently but freed up easily. I've been introduced to a mechanic with a fully equipped workshop and two ramps, and not being young he has a massive amount of knowledge. He's very efficient, clean working (seat covers and floor protection) and very, very reasonable price wise. He'll be getting all our work from now on.
  2. Just had the 4 calipers on my GS lubed, £45 including replacing all pads that I supplied. Not bad I thought.
  3. All nonsense to me, I buy a car because I like it, not because someone else does or doesn't.
  4. Although a few years later he did say it's sooooo boring and ended up destroying one with military weapons! Obviously by boring he meant it was ultra reliable and quiet and comfortable.
  5. A few people have done this, including me. You need to connect the hose from the expansion tank to the small port below the radiator filler cap. It means getting some more hose and a reducing piece. If I remember correctly the expansion tank hose is 10mm and the radiator 8mm. I'm not sure where you'll find it but if you search this forum you'll find the info. The genuine Lexus radiators are about £300 whereas they can be bought for £80 or so elsewhere but have to be slightly modified, easy enough though.
  6. Sport mode felt no different to me, just as it doesn't on my Volvo. Height rises by about an inch and takes 30 seconds or so. Sounds like yours is normal to me.
  7. Road traffic accident?
  8. I had a 2001 and 2002 LS 430 and neither needed codes.
  9. Definitely a lens. When the sun was on it it looked just like the lens from a phone camera.
  10. I need to get this 02 sensor ordered, can someone confirm this is the correct part. It's bank 1 sensor 2. Thanks The one on my car has this casing around the sensor. And should I change them as a pair? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1607106&cc=1431834&jsn=331
  11. Not sure, I know the later reversing camera is different. Maybe the government have hidden it to keep watch on us!!....or maybe the Russians!😁
  12. The reversing camera is just above the number plate. I only noticed this one when the sun was on it, look exactly like the reversing camera lens though.
  13. I've got another what's this. Under the rear parcel shelf brake light is a dark plastic piece. I noticed there's a small camera lens inside, anyone know what it does?
  14. Excellent info which I've mentally noted!
  15. I have to say I find the Lexus system in my GS just as good (if not better) than the ML which I had in both my LS430's
  16. I thought it would make sense to get some better diagnostic equipment and I'm told I can get TechStream from Ebay. Last year I bought the Volvo diagnostic kit but needed at least 2GB of free laptop space. Is it the same with TechStream, and is it easy to use? Volvo only worked with Windows 7 Professional for some reason.
  17. Strange the way the creaking dash affects some and not the others. Before I bought mine I tried a GS300 which didn't creak, and a GS430 that creaked from just about everywhere, it was the main thing that stopped me buying it really.
  18. Come on now, we all know that dash cam footage makes it all look a lot faster than it is. I would estimate that was about 2 miles an hour (at the most) we're all far to clever to fall for that kind of trickery! I found the blue flickering lights on the dash very pretty though.👍
  19. Nice to read of a good outcome. My GS Impressed me in the same way, absolutely spotless after nearly 13 years. Looking forward to your photos!
  20. I agree the dash creak/rattle is annoying, although I have sorted mine relatively easily and cheaply. I loved the interior of my LS430 but in many ways I prefer the GS. The only thing I'm not sure about is the drop-down bit with the buttons. My favourite is the wood door trims!
  21. Interesting reading your comments on the GS interior because I think the quality is superb. Which areas do you think aren't up to par?
  22. And it's the same in my GS, whereas my LS would have warmed up in no time.
