  1. Thanks Colin, I did try that but it made no difference.
  2. I must admit, I do have the feeling it's suspension related.
  3. Well that sounds like the same thing. When my calipers were being re-greased a couple of weeks ago I got the mechanic to check and he said nothing has any play at the front end. I'm driving to Austria in three weeks so I need to be sure it's safe. It'll be interesting to see what the other place comes up with on Wednesday. Like you, I'd definitely say it's not a metallic sound. I can't hear it with the door open or window down, and it wasn't there when I bought it in January, and I don't really notice it over big bumps, just on the slightly uneven areas (of which there are many in Sussex!)
  4. Does this sound familiar to anyone? When I drive over slightly uneven roads I hear what wouldn't necessarily be called a knock, but it's the only way I can describe it. It's not loud, just annoying. Its not one knock but continuous over that kind of surface. Definitely coming from front drivers side. I'm booked in somewhere on Wednesday but thought I'd ask in case others have had it. Maybe I'd say it's more of a muffled rattle. I can't feel it through the steering. Thanks
  5. Exactly my point when I had an LS430, we generally only heard the bad stories which would be well outnumbered if people posted the good news.
  6. Do you notice any difference John? On my Volvo I've got comfort, sport and normal, all settings feel identical.
  7. Having had two LS400's and two LS430's I can't honestly say air was any better. I do know that they should be changed in pairs and at £1600 for two, plus fitting I would certainly consider springs. Sensors are around £350 each. One member had springs fitted and said it took an hour per corner.
  8. As far as I'm aware that's the case. A pair of shocks for the earlier 300 can be bought for less than £150. If I've got it right, after 2008 they were electronic so much more costly. Don't know why they were changed, the basic shocks seem fine to me.
  9. No, I'm near Brighton and I was going to suggest you could come and play with my GS to see if you'd be happy with one.
  10. Hi John, You're right of course, although I didn't purchase the warranty, it came with it. They did make good their promise on the first 02 sensor, it's just a shame I was given the wrong info and replaced the wrong sensor! I did phone the warranty company when the fault code was first thrown up "Sorry, 02 sensors aren't covered"
  11. The GS that I bought in January came with 6 months warranty which I thought would give me peace of mind, the further I look into it the more I've decided I wouldn't waste my time using it. So many exclusions, so many parts not covered, and it only pays a maximum of £50 per hour labour. On top of that 3 garages I've asked don't do warranty work due to the time it takes to get paid. I'm sure some are better of course.
  12. Thanks Colin. What a strange design considering these parts only last a relatively short time.
  13. Looking again I notice the tutorial is for an AWD, whether that makes a difference I don't know.
  14. When I considered the hybrid the main advice was to have a health check done on the hybrid system which I believe is about £60 or so at Lexus. In the end I went for the non hybrid as I wanted to keep things as simple as I could. Also the shock absorbers which are a weak point seem to be much cheaper on the 300.
  15. After two weeks I've finally got my Denso sensor from Rockauto for a third of the main dealer price. There's a Youtube tutorial for replacing bank 2 sensor 2 which shows the seat being removed which seems ridiculous. Does anyone know if the same applies on the drivers side as I'm replacing bank 1 sensor 2? The alternative is to have the wires cut, soldered and heat shrunk, but I'd rather do it properly if possible. Any info greatly received.
  16. The wheels look like facelift LS430, they really suit it I think.
  17. Personally I love everything about this apart from the price.
  18. I agree, I've not found the ML to be any better than the Lexus premium sound system, or maybe you need a better ear for music to appreciate it.
  19. Have a great trip, we're driving to Vienna next month and hoping for no snow!
  20. I think you're right Mark, Lexus definitely don't make cars the way they did.
  21. I'm afraid I have to join the anti black comments, although when refurbished they may look better. I'd have then done in silver personally as I quite like the look of them. Do they affect the ride? I put similar on my MK4 and changed them straight back as it just didn't ride as smoothly.
  22. Just as well you don't own a Vauxhall then!!
  23. It really is such a bonus to find these sort of mechanics. Someone who's prepared to repair rather than replace. He told me the GS is easy to work on which is good to hear, I'm assuming the IS is similar.
