  1. This was my LS that I stupidly sold around 4 years ago for £1,100 with 107K and full service history, and just about immaculate. So what a real shame to read its dreadful MOT history, a picture of total neglect. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-Lexus-LS400-LPG/112925084294?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
  2. Well I'm guessing he's bought something more befitting a man of his advancing years!
  3. My best is around 40mpg but town use mid 20's
  4. I'm guessing a main dealer diagnostic would be your best bet. The initial outlay may pay you in the end. Have you got the code number that came up?
  5. Maybe that explains why the Rockauto website had a different 02 sensor for my car although I put the correct date in. Now I always put 2006 instead of 05 as that was the start of the gen 3.
  6. Presumably checking on the dash came with later cars? Although mine has tpms I'm guessing it's there as a warning rather than a means of checking. I've got a workshop at home so checking tyres is easy using my compressor.
  7. Have you done a diagnostic? I was reading just recently that blocked cats or duff 02 sensors can cause stalling and misfires.
  8. Thanks John, I really appreciate it. I'll let you know how I get on.
  9. I've ordered a pair so they should be with me in a couple of days. So presumably you do it just by removing the wheel, no crawling underneath? Strange really, of all the jobs I've done on cars over the years I've never done this one. It'll be nice to get rid of the noise, especially as I've more or less taken car of the creaks. It's also nice not to have the VSC check light on now!
  10. Thank you for that. It seems the anti roll bar links were a misdiagnosis so the knock remains. I don't mind as it wasn't an expensive job, and at least it's something less to go wrong in the future! Who did you order the bushes from and how much?
  11. Having said that about the passenger side, I bet there's a way round it (without cutting and joining wires) although I hope I never have to find out!
  12. It's probably just me being sceptical after viewing so many cars myself. So many adverts say things like "best car ever" but they only keep it for a few months. I've also found many times that someone else's idea of good condition is far from reality. Maybe I'm being unfair, if it's only 40 miles I'd view it for sure, as I say, the price is good.
  13. It looks very nice in the photos. Maybe it's just me but reading the description makes me uneasy, it doesn't fill me with confidence. Price is good though. Is it far from you?
  14. Certainly was with my GS. How you getting on with the LS Martin?
  15. He'll have to beat me to it, I can be there in two hours. 🚘
  16. While I was getting my 02 sensor fitted today I got them to check the knocking and they say anti roll bar links. I haven't got time to do it so it's going in on Friday. I'll report back on the outcome. At least the warranty covers this... apparently.
  17. It turns out the seat doesn't need removing. I had it done today by a local garage (that I trust!) £46+ which I'm more than happy with, the passenger side looks like the seat would have to come out though.
  18. I'd be happy with that. I mention it because mine is very rusty so on borrowed time.
  19. When I had my calipers lubed a couple of weeks ago I had the pads replaced at the same time, Pagid all round and they seem fine.
  20. Just out of interest can I ask what you paid for the exhaust system? I'm also unfamiliar with a PCV valve.
  21. I didn't know that, I'll remember next time. Thanks.
  22. I just had an 02 sensor from Rockauto in the States which was £52+ £5 postage, then there was an £8 Royal mail handling charge and £10 customs fee. It's a Denso part, £195 at main dealer. Well worth it if you don't mind waiting two weeks.
