  1. I did the same thing, pointing out that cars were mounting the pavement where schoolchildren walk to avoid the massive pothole. All repaired within 3 days.
  2. I can't, it's 50% more than I sold it for! If, and it is a big if, I ever got another one, it would be a late facelift. I need to be content with my GS, it's a lovely car in immaculate condition so I need to stop thinking about alternatives.....😀
  3. If you can't find them in the UK at a decent price try Rockauto in the States. It takes about 10 days to arrive but their prices are very good.
  4. I've tried just lightly applying the brakes in case it's the calipers but it doesn't make any difference. I only notice it up to 15-20 mph and only over the slightest road imperfections. I'll find it eventually as it can spoil an otherwise quiet ride.
  5. That could certainly be the case with Andrew's GS, mine sounds more like the exhaust just slightly touching but it isn't.
  6. I think what you describe sounds different to mine. I don't hear any difference when loaded or cornering. I've covered 2.5k miles since my first post and it hasn't worsened. Two mechanics have looked and neither can find anything amiss. I would have thought signs of leakage might be the first evidence of shocks going to meet their maker. You may be lucky and find it's as simple as anti roll bar bushes as suggested to me. I'm due for a service soon so I'll get them to dig a bit deeper.

I don't know what it is about these LS400's, if it wasn't at the other end of the country I'd be looking at it myself!

There's a beautiful one on Autotrader in silver but it's 6k. If it really is as good as the advert says I'm not sure it's excessive given the scarcity of fine examples.
  9. Sadly I was never good enough to be chosen as a monitor, in fact I was monitored! And my last encounter with football was when QPR played Watford in the early 60's. The elastic in my trousers broke causing me some trauma so I never returned. Over 10 days we did Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Saltzburg, Vienna and Lichtenstein, then back to Luxembourg for one night. Average 38-39 mpg with one 250 mile motorway stretch showing 43.5. A very enjoyable but expensive trip covering approximately 2,300 miles. The main must do's were the Mozart and Strauss concert and much Austrian coffee and cake, both of which were achieved, the latter being repeated many times! Sadly Hitler's Eagles Nest wasn't open until the following week so maybe next time. Martin, sorry to highjack your post, but as we've met I know you're a gent!
  10. Not withstanding my atrocious spelling in my message to Martin, are you addressing me or Lee young man?
  11. That's actually very timely because I quite literally, and accidentally, chipped a piece off a block 20 mins ago!
  12. Just idle curiosity old chap. I was looking at a garage advertising remapping etc and not knowing the type of engine that can be remapped I thought I'd ask the question. I agree the power is more than ample but a little more could be fun! 🚗 I didn't even know it was just for turbo engines. I should stick to carpentry!
  13. Just curious to know if anyone has has their GS remapped, if so has it made much difference?
  14. Glad to here that Martin. I am enjoying my GS, we've just finished our Austrian road trip in it, very comfortable, not a single bum ache!
  15. Plus I see Excalibur firmly stuck in the stone so guess who isn't the true ruler of England 🗡
  16. Yes, 16v OHC, not the most popular engine but went like a rocket in its time. I had a black one that looked the biz, or a hearse depending on your outlook.
  17. I think you're right, I've got a 2008 V70 SE sport, not a bad motor.....if you don't mind the odd electrical problem! I also had the 740 GLT.
  18. Surely the LS430 I sold you isn't failing to pleasure you already? I love the colour of your new acquisition though.
  19. I don't have an ISF either (whatever that is) but a do have a soft spot for the 940, one of my best cars ever, and my 240 wasn't bad either.
  20. I think the German bugs were the most persistent, followed by the Swiss! I only saw a very small handful of Lexus cars which surprised me, especially given the sponsor of the Vienna opera.
  21. Yes, fantastic weather, almost too hot at times. Vienna was 29 degrees. A fair amount of long delays on the German motorways due to roadworks but I still took it up to 110 mph for a while. A fab trip (insanely expensive) but good to get back to our own bed.... and our dog of course! We were both amazed by the beauty of the Luxembourg countryside so a separate trip there may be forthcoming.
