  1. I think the MK3 GS is still a great looking car in 2018. I did take a GS430 for a test drive, especially after having the same engine in my LS, but in all honesty I didn't feel it really suited the car, even though it's a superb engine. 0-60 in around 7 seconds is plenty fast enough for me.
  2. I think the spec on both is high but different. By that I mean (as far as I'm aware) the Lexus doesn't have lane departure and live traffic sat nav, in fact the Lexus sat nav is pretty poor really, and I find the Bluetooth iffy. Even so, I would choose the GS over a BMW any day. In May we did a European road trip of just under 2,500 miles and it was supremely comfortable and a real pleasure to drive, you won't be disappointed. And by all accounts in a GS450h you'll leave most others standing!
  3. If you want the same amount of technology as your BMW you may be a tad disappointed in a gen 3 GS (assuming that's what you're considering)
  4. When the AC packed up on my first LS430 it was diagnosed as the compressor, I bought a second hand one from eBay for £75. Total cost for having it fitted and gassed by a local outfit was about £120 as I recall. The main thing about buying a used one (apart from a guarantee that it works) is to get one still on the vehicle if possible, otherwise the seals dry out. With the right access it's not too bad a job. When I bought an 02 sensor from Rockauto it took ten days to arrive which is fine, but there was £18 customs fee to pay when it got here which I wasn't expecting. An excellent company though.
  5. That's exactly the same as my leather with ventilated front seats. In fact it's the same as the two I looked at before I bought mine, including a GS430.
  6. Good news Andrew, and interesting that you prefer yours over a brand new one! I've still got my slight knock, but after more than 3k miles it hasn't got any worse. With the AC fan going you can't really hear it but it's really annoying when you can. I would actually like it to get worse as it'll be easier to locate the problem. If and when I do find it I'll report back. Happy motoring! 🚗
  7. Hi John, yes, I passed it a couple of days ago in Worthing. I'm not sure of the colour as the sun was so bright, but I'm not sure it was silver.
  8. Always a sad (and rare) sight when you know they're the best cars ever made!
  9. I should think the pads will be a doddle after what you've just achieved.
  10. I also have a tale of tradesman woe, before detectors. I drilled a hole in a kitchen wall just 3" from an external copper pipe. The drill hit a live cable, the electricity arced across the chuck and burned a hole in the copper pipe causing a mains gushing! The days before consumer units with breakers of course. Lesson learned? not really.
  11. We'll make a fortune! In fact I'm off car hunting now on the strength of your suggestion.🚘
  12. Not so fast, this is my post. Ignore the above everyone. Now, if anyone wants a new kitchen, built in wardrobes, new gate (bespoke of course)......
  13. Not that I'm now making my own advertising considering this post but, I find the opposite. I haven't shaved properly for years due to razor burn etc, with Harry's I no longer look like a vagrant! I've thankfully never touched a babies bottom, but had I ever done so I'm sure I would now feel the comparison between one and my chin!
  14. Northern Ireland is part of the UK so I'm not sure that would be it. I've not come across this before.
  15. Have a look at the MOT history of this LS. Does anyone know why it would be "unknown"? https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/ls/lexus-ls/8565983
  16. On a positive note, I bought a Harry's razor after seeing an ad and it's pretty good!!
  17. I'm sure someone has posted this already but if not it's very interesting.
  18. Maybe it's because I mostly use my phone and it blocks the screen more? I'm using the desktop now and still have ads (Meet and greet, parking made easy at Heathrow today) The last couple of weeks I've had a big ad on my phone for Muslim aid, prior to that it's chocolate!
  19. Some have even made their own with things like skewers! I had one break on my first LS430 and although I did (or the garage did) source a new rod it was still £45, the sensor was another £300 odd.
  20. Dave, you need to go back to the seller, you've got texts from him suggesting he's a dealer of some kind. Why not put his details on here to see if anyone else knows him?
