  1. £900 even with the fault sounds like a bargain to me! Have you tried disconnecting the sensors to see if it drops right down? Also I seem to remember reading that faulty front sensors/struts can give the impression it's the rear that's at fault. If all else fails how about converting to coil struts? A few have done it with the 4 costing the same as one new air strut.
  2. The air suspension is such a complex system but if you're not loosing air then by what you say it does still sound like a sensor problem. When you say you cleaned the sensor does that mean you took it apart to clean it internally? The LS ones can be taken apart and inspected and resealed, not sure if the RX is the same. What caused it in the first place, or did it suddenly happen?
  3. I agree with that. I've had Volvo's for years, going back to the early eighties, and as much as I love the V70 I have now, more has gone wrong than in any of my earlier ones. Not broken down, but annoying faults.
  4. Very true, in my 10 years or so of LS ownership never once have I broken down. The only mishap was a duff coil pack in my MK2, but I forgave it for that!
  5. Even the boot badges are located with holes and pins as I discovered when I had the idea of de-badging my last LS.
  6. You did well if you found yourself a decent LS400, especially with low mileage. Personally having had both it's hard to choose but I think the 430 just has the edge, although if a 400 came my way I would consider it. Somebody round here has a very late X reg 400 but hangs onto it! I'll put some photos on this weekend to see if anyone's tempted!
  7. I know it's a good price but I just can't be bothered to hold out for top money, I never have been like that really. Cars always loose money in my experience and you definitely can't take it with you when you're gone!
  8. I've enjoyed my GS for the 6 months I've owned it but miss the V8 too much. If anyone's interested in a mint low mileage example pm me. 2005 72k with full main dealer history bar the one I had done in May by a good local firm. MOT December. 4 excellent premium tyres. I paid £5,600, looking at no less than £3,750. If no takers then I'll hang on to it for a while.
  9. We saw a play at the Minnack a couple of years ago, perfect weather in a perfect setting.
  10. Don't take every comment too seriously Ben, much of it is lighthearted.
  11. The old reg is X777 NJB, very good history, just difficult getting up to Bedfordshire.
  12. Mark, have you asked the garage to give you the fault codes? And it may be worth asking them if they think a fluid change would possibly work. Can I ask what mileage you're on?
  13. If you do, if you could just have a look at the bodywork on this it would be appreciated! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-Lexus-LS-430-4-3-4dr/253783738516?hash=item3b16b08894:g:asYAAOSwgYBbXaSV
  14. It's frustrating the way that happens. I think I'll phone today for more info.
  15. I think I may have mentioned I saw an LS430 going down the hill to Sennen a couple of years ago as we were staggering up the same hill after libations at the same pub! I drove my GS to London yesterday and thought I was doing ok until I found myself behind a silver 430 causing me to go all wistful again! I was wondering about this one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-Lexus-LS-430-4-3-4dr/253783738516?hash=item3b16b08894:g:asYAAOSwgYBbXaSV
  16. 2004 face lift with 253k miles. Drives like new 🙂 And as I may have mentioned in the past, that gives much confidence to all LS430 owners.
  17. Me too. We've finally got around to paying a deposit. I may bump into you Mike if you're there in September as we'll only be a few miles away and we're sure to drop in at Mousehole, a great place to chill!
  18. You're not kidding it's too long! Ever heard of the saying "in a nutshell?"😨😱
  19. Good point, and for me it would have to be my 69 Chevy Malibu in a rare right hand drive but poverty told me it had to go!
  20. How many times have I said "I wish I'd kept it" but still I don't learn!
