  1. That's a good point, does that mean I've got to strain it through my tights!!
  2. That's actually a good idea, I've got big shed roof that collects the rain water and it's next to my drive where I park. I guess I could do the final rinse with it.
  3. Thank you, it feels good to be back in a big Lexus/Toyota!
  4. I gave the old girl a waxing today and its come up a treat but here's a question. We live in a hard water area so even using a chamois after washing it always leaves white streaks. Does anyone know if there's a product on the market (apart from waxing every time) that will get rid of it?
  5. Good point, not as often as we should probably, but now you've mentioned it I'll definitely get it done at the next service.
  6. Yes, as Piers says, it's very difficult to locate a leak, but if it's going down then a new strut is probably your only option.
  7. Being stuck in traffic today I started playing with buttons and discovered I have Bluetooth, any other 430 owners have it and is it any good? I had it in my GS which was two years newer but it wasn't very good. I don't want to bother playing with it if its no good. Ta.
  8. On mine it has a toll sensor which automatically charges your card. Very useful should I decide to drive in Japan!
  9. Ditto, find another mechanic, £300 is ridiculous.
  10. I think each strut is around 9kg. It's only to have the info for the future, just in case! Either way the more research I do and the more mechanics I speak to it makes you wonder why more don't do it, it looks very straightforward.
  11. Which is something we may do next year....sorry, wrong thread!!
  12. Come on Mike, you'd get there and miss Cornwall!
  13. I don't know if the compressor clutch on the IS can be replaced but I would think replacing the whole thing would make more sense to me, especially if you can get one for £285. I don't understand why you need a new condenser unless you have a leak. I'd probably replace the auxiliary belt at the same time.
  14. Thinking ahead, just in case serious air suspension problems arise. I've contacted Strutmaster in the US who make their own and have great reviews. A full conversion kit is about £950, roughly the price of one new air strut. The conversion seems really straightforward. Problem is, they say shipping to the UK is 1,000usd. Sounds a bit steep does it not?
  15. Don't know about the cover but I do know I've had 5 LS's and none have had a radio code, I think most don't.
  16. Thanks Graham, interesting read and not too daunting. I've contacted the local guy suggested by Neil who is very familiar with the LS430 and he said he can do the whole job for around £75, including removing the seat. More than happy with that. He also said he loves doing the cambelt on them having done so many so that's very useful to know. And on top of that only 5 mins from home!
  17. I bought Pagids from ECP with their weekend sale, £41 for both sets. The 50% code my still be available.
  18. Ooh, you lucky man! Lovely colour. Welcome to LOC.
  19. A job I'll need to do on my Celsior/LS430 in due course is replace a rear shock as it has some oily misting. I'm happy to do it and knew about it so no problem. I contacted Lexus Hedge End who quoted £1011 whereas Gatwick quoted £860, both supply only! I had an online chat with Paul Frost who has a used one for £185. I'm happy for that if the rear seat didn't have to come out to access the strut tops. Paul says there's a way round it by reclining the seats fully then two plastic clips are just accessable. It's getting to these clips that makes removing the whole seat necessary. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?
  20. I think the important thing is to disconnect the battery and leave it for 15 mins before dismantling and you'll be fine.
  21. How strange. I did have to scroll through for ages before I found the clock setting, it's not in the usual place!
  22. My GS had the same button, when I pressed it there would be a bleep then you gave it the command. Mine wasn't great but when i asked it to set the climate temperature it was spot on.
  23. No, the rear fogs are in the usual place. I've managed to decipher the Japanese and adjust the clock!
  24. Yes it does and yes it does! I've got a retrofit switch and a strange object on the dash, I'll take some pics tomorrow.
