  1. No, the ML speakers always seem to blow. The foam around the edges disintegrates causing them to vibrate. They can be repaired but it's time consuming. The subwoofer repair means removal of the rear seat.
  2. On the 430 the driver's seat has an extendable cushion which wouldn't work.
  3. Very nice GS (and LS of course) I love the black and white picture! Welcome to the LOC, I hope you find the info you need. The amp does appear to be one of the weak points with the ML system, along with the speakers.
  4. I recently bought a cheap sensor for my wife's car (£25) and it lasted a day. I'm told, although I haven't looked, that there are many postings online about the problems with cheap O2 sensors.
  5. Gates timing belt kits seem to be highly regarded. I would so seriously think twice about not having the pump done as well though, it would seem like false economy, plus you'll have the peace of mind.
  6. Yes, self adhesive. I used it on a previous LS, bought from Halfords and it looked fine.
  7. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be something that anyone can put their finger on with certainty. The problem being that it could be so many things as has been said. It would be so much easier to look at it in the flesh. Basically, if it's not a tyre (and my jury is still out) and a sticking caliper is ruled out, it has to be something like a bush that's worn. Yet another thing to consider is the prop shaft, and if the vibration goes after a certain speed it does also indicate that something is out of balance.
  8. Ridiculous main dealer pricing. I was quoted £450 for the job, including pump, idlers and tensioner, and cam belt of course!
  9. The problem is that it could potentially be anything. Maybe you need to get to a good specialist who will do a thorough check. If it's tyres causing it and you can feel it as a passenger I'd want them replaced. I still wouldn't rule out a sticking caliper, have you checked how hot the wheels get?
  10. I just bought a wood steering wheel from him today, he certainly knows his stuff but I found you do have to keep chasing him. Give him your VIN number and he'll do a proper colour match.
  11. Lexussparesdirect on eBay.
  12. I nearly replied to the wrong person then, you're not the only Lexus owner who's going to insane lengths! Impressive!
  13. At least the LS400 is worth investing that kind of money in, not every car would be!👍
  14. You could swap front to back to see if it helps but it's a lot of hassle. It sounds like you need new tyres soon anyway so it wouldn't be a bad move methinks.
  15. If you were in my part of the world I'd recommend someone. Maybe the best way is to ask St Google for car trimmers in your area. Keep us posted on the future work, you've got a real beauty there!
  16. Is it just me or is it a case of having to keep nagging Paul Frost? All I want is a steering wheel but after the initial replies I'm getting no response. It took about 10 messages to get a suspension strut.
  17. If all of your bushes and ball joints are sound, I can't help wondering if the clue is in your statement "the tyres are quite old and worn"
  18. If that's the case I'm camping out with my camcorder! I've done yet another repair with rubber and heat shrink tubing but I've also ordered a universal shark fin. Very cheap, and if it fits OK should actually look quite good. We do have lots of creatures here, squirrels, foxes, magpies, crows and lots of cats (owning a greyhound makes the latter interesting!)🐾🐀🐺🐱🐧
  19. A judder from the brakes is something my Celsior had when braking at speed, I changed the front discs and had the rear lower control arm bushes replaced and it's gone. That wouldn't necessarily cause a wobble with normal driving though (assuming the wheels were balanced correctly) I'm speaking to a mechanic who knows much about Lexus this morning, I'll ask for his initial thoughts.
  20. I was recently quoted £450ish which includes water pump and idlers. It's the same engine as yours. You can get it done for less without the pump but I wouldn't risk it.
  21. So many possibilities. Sticking caliper, worn steering parts, worn bushes, out of shape tyres and more! Any other symptoms/noises? Even wrongly inflated tyres can cause it.
  22. I went out to the car just before dark, and with the dew and the covering of sawdust from my neighbours woodwork I saw a faint line of pawprints across the whole car! Small prints so a fox or cat.
  23. Fortunately the top part is easily replaceable. I've not had it happen on either of my previous ones. I may look at getting a shark fin one to replace it.
