  1. Considering how well equipped most imports are I'm surprised mine doesn't have parking sensors. It has a rear camera and the illuminated retractable mast at the front, but I want to fit sensors. The front is easy but has anyone fitted them to the rear? I'm hoping not to remove the bumper so I'm wondering if anyone has fitted them. I realise it's unlikely as the UK spec ones usually come ready fitted. As I've got the camera I'd be happy just to fit them on both corners which may make it possible without removal. Any advice appreciated.
  2. Well that could have been worse! I believe you can get the rods made, or even do some kind of DIY repair.
  3. Correct, you can sell without being a gold member, although I think constant, and therefore trade like selling isn't allowed.
  4. You and me both. Trouble is I'm having to translate from Japanese first!
  5. Low mileage never really bothered me that much with these big engines until I bought my Celsior. Like you I have 63k on it now and it's immaculate, the only LS I've had out of 5 that I can truly say that about.
  6. I agree. Why, just this week one of my soft close doors needed slightly more pressure than I was hoping to give it!
  7. Yes, good man, we need more people like you on our roads. Who knows how many accidents (maybe serious) you prevented. I spent hours driving in London yesterday and the lack of consideration for other motorists is shocking. Give yourself a pat on the back (not when you're driving though!)👍
  8. OK, that's good. Glad you've got it sorted. Expensive?
  9. Is it a downstream sensor (post cat)? Just curious as the pre cat sensors can cause running problems.
  10. I guess it depends on whether its been used for lots of short journeys or simply not used.
  11. It could be many things but you'll need to get a diagnostic check. Maybe you mean the EML? One of the most common reasons is o2 sensors. Even a cheap reader should give you a fault code.
  12. I agree there's no loyalty, actually not with any provider, regardless of product. Interestingly though my renewal this year with Esure was as I mentioned only an £11 increase. When I shopped around I couldn't get close, the best was £65 more.
  13. I was only talking about luncheon vouchers a couple of days ago. Remember when job adverts would include that as a perk? Maybe insurance companies should reinstated them!
  14. A fine looking steed and great to have the peace of mind knowing the cam belt is done. I was never sure about tinted rear windows until I bought my Celsior which has very dark tints, now I think they look brilliant, as do yours.
  15. I am apparently in the age group where car insurance is at its lowest. I would seem to have learned all of life's driving lessons, and at 66 am a low risk they say. If only they could see how I drive sometimes!😇
  16. I don't understand it either. I have a Volvo which cost me £195 this year, and less than £300 for the Celsior. I keep reading about huge increases but it never seems to be that bad, yet someone like Vlad gets hammered. I guess the car value comes into it though, as does location and a person's age. My Volvo cover increase this year was just £11, which unlike you Mike means we went to bed with empty bellies!😢
  17. The Lexus brand is a bit of a drug though. You can go through the other brands rehab but the addiction will remain! Beware of the dealers!💉
  18. I have to come in on the defence of the V70. I've had mine for three years now and I think it's brilliant. Yes the engine can growl when pushed, but at motorway cruising I find it perfect. Being the SE Sport it also has excellent pulling power, is surprisingly swift, and has many nice features. On the road it feels solid and safe. However, the turning circle is its major fault in my opinion. Maybe I've just been spoilt by having a car that has a better turning circle than anything I've ever driven! The Lexus (or Toyota in my case) turning circle never ceases to amaze me.
  19. I have to say I've had endless cars since 1972, and vans. The worst by far (apart from an NSU) were Leyland cars. Perhaps the very worst was the Sherpa van, an absolute disgrace. You only have to go to YouTube and type in The Leyland Connection to see how bad they were. My old Fords were great. None however have ever come close to my LS400's or 430's (or my GS)
  20. How about a photo of the button. Could it be to disable the alarm like the LS430 has I wonder. Iv'e got the original Sony Walkman type cassette player in the rear of mine, still with the unused headphones! I've also got the complete breakdown flare under the glovebox. I can't get a picture on the TV but I can get sound, just as well really as its in the dash!
  21. I fear you're right!
  22. The nav disc was in the boot, although now I get a message telling me to insert disc every time I start, not audible though. I've never heard of a switch for the suspension, all I know is that it should never be started when jacked up. I've found all sorts of stuff in my car, including a sound system remote which doesn't seem to even belong to the car.
  23. I've been too busy to try but towards the end of the week I will. I don't think I'll have the nerve to try the parking assist either! I recently disconnected the battery when I replaced the steering wheel and since then the displays for the AC etc only stay on for a few seconds. I notice the video addresses that so hopefully I'll be able to sort that as well. I took out the sat nav disc as it seemed pointless have directions on the screen for Japan!
  24. I can't help thinking that a dealer who puts up that many photos is pretty confident they've got a good car for sale there!
