  1. My second best ever concert was Dire Straights. The only thing with the Eagles new tour is there's no Glenn Frey, not sure how I'd feel about that. I'm not generally a fan of tribute bands but we saw the Illegal Eagles three weeks ago, and eyes closed you'd think it was them.
  2. When I'm driving mine with no music on I can hear my watch ticking!
  3. We saw them at Wembley when they were last touring here, just superb!
  4. I'm afraid I can't endorse the idea of any of the aforementioned songs being used for karaoke. Glenn Frey would turn in his grave! Maybe it's something to do with owning Japanese cars, the Japanese love their karaoke.🎤
  5. In town I get about 19 but the gentle cruise is really impressive for a big car. It's a bit better than my previous LS as it has the 6th gear. However, when I floored it on the way home it went down to remortgage the house MPG! Without too much stop start the long journey figures really are in the low 30's per gallon which I don't think anyone could complain about. Plus I really enjoyed today's journey in supreme comfort and quietness (apart from when I turned up Bob Dylan and the Eagles!)
  6. Driving to London on the M23 this morning at a speed befitting a man of my age. Not bad for a 4.3 V8. In the long roadworks where its a fifty limit it went as high as 37. Not a very good photo but it does say 35.1 not 351!
  7. I guess it's all down to beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure the Evoque is a pleasure to drive, and if you're happy to buy me one I'm happy to drive it!
  8. Possibly a coil pack going south? The MK2 has two, unlike the later ones which have 8. The first to go is often the right hand one looking from the front as it gets the hottest.
  9. I'm inclined to agree. The chances of one as nice coming along with such low mileage are slim. Go for it man, you'll only regret it when it sells to someone else. What a beautiful thing to own, especially as someone else has coughed up the initial depreciation! If my family silver consisted of more than one worn out EPNS spoon I'd sell it to buy that car!
  10. Now that's my kind of language! How about one Toyota Century and keeping the other half of the money for fuel and maintenance.
  11. Not sure as they all look the same to me so I've just Googled it. I'm assuming they supply a lifebelt with it as it looks just as boat like. I have also seen the new Discovery in the flesh, a rear end that appears to be made up from leftovers.
  12. The choice is solely yours, and as I've already quoted a common saying, how about another one. If in doubt.... It's really difficult making decisions with cars, I've been there many times! It is a lovely looking car, which I'd love to own. I would however be constantly aware of future major expense. I've always said that owning an old LS means I have luxury and comfort, but if something major went wrong I could just let the car go, I couldn't do that if I spent 30K. Maybe you need to ask a woman's advice, they tend to impart wisdom regarding such issues!
  13. Spending 30k isn't to be taken lightly, but if you've got it spare I agree with Malc, why hesitate? And we know what happens to he who does don't we.....
  14. Because the oil change is 6k I've always (for at least 10 years) used part synthetic in all my LS's. If the interval was longer I'd use fully, but it isn't so I don't. None have ever used a drop and it still looks clear before it's changed.
  15. That's really helpful, thank you. I'll look tomorrow to see how similar it is. Disabling ETC is really all I want to do. Its not a problem but it'll be nice not to get the message and the voice telling me off (at least I think she's telling me off!)
  16. No problem as such but it would be nice to disable a couple of things. One being ETC which is an automatic toll charge, the sensor being above the rear view mirror. For some reason it shows ETC at the top of the screen for a few seconds when the reversing camera activates. I could buy a monitor from a breakers for £80, but I'm not sure I can be bothered.
  17. I've got partly the same problem, mine is an import so my screen is mostly in Japanese! I have had two UK models though so I almost know my way around. I find it odd that all Japanese cars have both the Japanese and English language on the gauges and switches.
  18. Lovely! And it has the same engine as a Lexus and the same buttons. It even looks like an LS430 at the front. Now that I could live with most happily!
  19. Ah yes, wasn't that nicknamed the landcrab?
  20. Hideous looking thing. Is it the Evoque that they make as a convertible? I always laugh when I see one with the top down as it looks just like a boat!
  21. Welcome to the LOC Simon. As Mike says, eBay/breakers has to be the best source. The problem being LS400's go on and on so it's not the most common car to be broken. It seems the rules have been relaxed in recent weeks re selling. As you say, how long is a piece of string! Prices seem to vary widely with many "chancers" out there.
