  1. So the struts were still 699us? In pounds that only about £550 so if I did it your way sometime it could work out around £800 plus import rip off and Vat.
  2. That's what I'm wondering. Is there a way of estimating the customs charge? I had an o2 sensor from Rockauto last year and customs was £18 on a £50 item!
  3. That's much better. Are Strutmaster happy for you to arrange your own shipping? I just wondered if that's a way of them making more from you. I'll follow this with interest. I think the original air struts are about 9.5 pounds in weight, I was surprised when I picked one up at just how light it was.
  4. Now you see, you've lost me! In car technology (apart from dash cams) confuses me. And no offence, but you and me on a journey together would definitely argue over who's music we play. Surely the LS should only be allowed to be subjected to lilting tones as we waft.....or possibly a bit of Hendrix!
  5. I was wondering if he was referring to the blank screen as it fails on the early LS or just where the wheel sits. If it's the latter it must be way out.😵🕤
  6. When you say you can't see your dashboard, is that to do with the position of the steering wheel or because the screen is blank?
  7. I went to see a car that this dealer had about a year ago and nothing inspired me to go for it. His description didn't match the car at all I'm afraid, and I think his prices are high from what I saw. He often has older LS's that look poor.
  8. That's a good point, I think last year we only missed the requirement by two weeks.
  9. Yes, we've got it quite bad here in West Sussex which is unusual. I see the worst is the A30 at Bodmin, I hope it doesn't last, I'm off to Cornwall next week!
  10. I seem to remember seeing a couple of YouTube videos on this, and I think there's a surround you can get from the US that matches the grey. A bit of research and digging I think. I'm interested in something like this myself so I'll let you do all the hard work first!!
  11. It's not such a long trip this year, just Luxembourg and Salzburg, we're doing it in May but planning ahead we've got our accommodation all booked! Last year we did that plus Vienna and Switzerland, a lot of driving in the GS but a great drive and still a very, very comfortable car.
  12. We'll done, very good thinking! And to answer your other question, yes they do dim over time which is why they need replacing in pairs, as I once discovered.
  13. Welcome to the LOC. Remember to check the power steering pump for leaks. If it leaks (and it may not) it'll drip onto the alternator and destroy it. My very first Lexus was a 93 LS400, I had it for five years, a brilliant car!
  14. Strangely, my Celsior doesn't have a full size spare like everyone else's LS, just a space saver. My Volvo has a very clever wheel brace that has an extending handle increasing the leverage.
  15. I'd be keeping what you've got, a lovely convertible for the summer and a fairly rare V8.
  16. Absolutely, a non premium pack LS430 is ideal!
  17. That's what I thought. It may be your switch to turn off/on the alarm beep.
  18. Do you know if the Autoglym rubber care stuff is a similar product?
  19. Maybe it has something to do with our damp winter climate?
  20. We would like to be chuffed with you so how about loads of photos?
  21. Yes, they wanted similar for my GS sensor but the same Denso part was much less from ECP.
  22. Up until last October my wife was having treatment, followed by regular checkups at a Chelsea hospital. This went on for over five years. We used to drive from Sussex to Putney where we could park and get the bus from there. That became such an ordeal that eventually we would just drive all the way. Parking in Chelsea was always a challenge but we always found somewhere. It just became so much more convenient, and so much quicker. And with pay by phone the cost of parking was easy to get just right without paying more than we needed. Thankfully that's all behind us now but I would never do it by bus again, especially after being on it in 34 degrees at one time.
  23. I would use public transport more if it was any good, but generally it isn't. We travel along our coast road to Brighton often and I can do it by car in 25 mins, the bus can take 75 minutes and I have to listen to everyone's phone calls, smell their kebabs and stick to their chewing gum. The train, Southern Rail, is sooo bad. Twice I've gone back to the ticket office for a refund because no train has appeared. So I'll keep on driving until they squeeze me off the road, which possibly won't be long as the NCP car park in Brighton is £16 for 3 hours! Just a thought, maybe I should buy a small power boat!🛥🚢
  24. And you can't help wondering if that's the plan, to make many cars worthless. Annoyingly my Volvo gets hit but my wife's 11 year old Astra doesn't. Thankfully my driving in London days are few and far between these days, but a feel for anyone living and driving near the zone. I have to admit though, driving and parking in Mount Pleasant recently was almost enjoyable due to the lack of traffic within the congestion zone.
