  1. On my GS the worst creak was where the dash met the windscreen. I simply put some of this down between the two and it solved the problem. No need to dismantle anything. A bit of spray silicone helps to wedge it in. Look on ebay for double glazing rubber. It's only cheap so maybe get a couple of different sizes. I think I used 4mm. Because it's black and the top is rounded and smooth it didn't even notice.
  2. To be honest that looks pretty good to me!
  3. Piers, you know the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" I feel on this occasion you may be the solitary beholder!
  4. It's a shame, and not what you would expect. My GS had some terrible creaks but were all sorted using various bits of padding. The worse being between the dash and windscreen. I ended up putting some black rubber used in double glazing in the gap, it wasn't visible and stopped the creak!
  5. On a positive note, you'll never forget where you parked that at Asda!
  6. I thought it might come under the Infinity umbrella. As it happens, the reason I first bought an LS all those years ago is because I thought it looked American, and I've always loved the look of American cars! I owned a Chevy in the 70's and my liking of them never left me. So if anyone out there has a Dodge Charger or a Corvette Stingray going, preferably for free, I'll be a grateful recipient!😁🚘
  7. It would be nice to take one for a drive but not something I'd want to own, I'd be too concerned about parts, plus I prefer the look of my Celsior. I do really like the Nissan dash though.
  8. I'm sure many will be very interested to know how you get on with a coilover conversion, please report back.
  9. Wouldn't it make a brilliant wedding car!
  10. If it wasn't so far away I'd take a look just out of interest. Trouble is we've done that with our local Dogs Trust and come away with a dog on three occasions, I'd be worried the same thing would happen with this car!
  11. I've never seen one of these before, it must be pretty rare. I'm not over keen on the front, but I love the dash! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-NISSAN-CIMA-4-5-V8-24-000-MILES-PRISTINE-SAME-AS-LEXUS-LS400-LS430/192868553293?hash=item2ce7dc924d:g:2~IAAOSwAvFcl45N
  12. A couple of weeks ago I was in a friend's Mercedes, a fairly new one, but two days ago he was a passenger in mine and immediately commented on what a smooth ride it is!
  13. Welcome to the LOC!
  14. It was slightly trickier on mine as the coolant reservoir is behind the radiator so less room to get the hands down there. A few minor cuts and scrapes!
  15. It'll never be something I own but that "bag" which I assume is the gear shift looks dreadful, like something from the 80's.
  16. Welcome to the LOC. Let's have some pictures then!
  17. The main things that come to mind are worn suspension/steering components, wrong pressures, budget tyres, and although you mentioned it, incorrect wheel alignment. I think your driving style would need to be consistently bad to cause uneven wear!
  18. I've been through the same, trying to get the info, plus I'm driving through Europe in a couple of months. Everyone tells me the same, if you've got HID's they have a flat pattern so no need for deflectors. The main dealer told me the same thing.
  19. An easy way to rule out the belt is to spray silicone on it as it runs, actually, even spraying water on will be almost as good. If the noise goes immediately you know it's likely to be the belt.
  20. You need to keep the whole setup as air or replace the 4 with springs, you can't have half and half, it just won't work. If you've got one leaking buy a used one for about £175. I did that when I bought mine and I was charged £75 for fitting, and that included removing the rear seat.
  21. Even if it was right hand drive it would still be 6k more than it's worth. Strange how some try it on!
  22. Reducing road deaths to zero will never happen, it's just impossible. As for speed limiters, they've had them in Japan for many years, seems to work there. Personally I don't see how limiting car speeds will reduce deaths, unless as you say, they reduce it to walking speed. Perhaps human nature needs limiting more than cars!
  23. So assuming yours is the slightly less desirable right hand drive, I'm guessing yours must be worth £9,500- £11,000? And mine being a 2003 with 65k, well, shall we say £12,000?
  24. Eh, what's that? Brex what? Presumably that's something new, I've not heard of it myself!
  25. If you move quickly you could bag yourself a real bargain. There's a 2003 LS430 on eBay with 143k and they're only asking £10,000! The thing that really makes it a great buy is the way it's left hand drive. Be careful not to get crushed in the rush!
