    After another member saying how easy it is to replace the centre brake light I thought I would have a go at replacing mine with an LED, so I bought extra ones to replace the other brake light bulbs. After giving up trying to find where the bulbs are I googled it only to find the facelift has LED's already! But, here's the scary part, apparently if they fail you have to replace the whole unit!😱

    I can only comment on what I've read on this forum and it may be that the suspension is a weaker point, and replacement is much more expensive than a non hybrid GS.

    I can certainly confirm what John says about the satnav, I put a UK disc in mine and it wasn't recognised. My understanding was that most imports, certainly to the UK anyway, have history with them. Mine does have the service book but you'll need Google Translate if you don't speak Japanese! As just about all of the imports come from auction they should come with the auction report which will verify mileage and body/cabin condition. These reports are reliable as the inspections are strictly controlled and not designed to deceive you into buying a lemon!

    Then there's the fitting to add to that, not a straightforward task. The LS460 has really come way down in value. Many to be had for little money, and I doubt it will ever command LS400 money in years to come because unlike the 400 it's not the best car Lexus ever made.

    It looks nice but the advisory is on both rear shocks which could set you back £1800+ just for parts!

    I don't know about an EGR pipe as I didn't do the job myself but I know they removed the starter which in itself is a pain. As Malc suggests, contact Steve because he did his own and will offer the best help.

    I think you've got all you need and you'll only have to drain the coolant so far, but I would play safe and drain most of it.

    As above, just replace the plunger and contacts, I had it done on my 400, about £12 for the parts, and I seem to remember the labour by an indie was £150ish. Parts available on eBay. An easy time to loose parts down the manifold ports so much care needed.

    So call back, ask to speak to the manager, complain about the shocking service and negotiate a good price for a cam belt as compensation! I did it last year with my Volvo main dealer and it worked!

    I'd have rejected your offer as well! And as Herbie says, you're being unrealistic. Maybe 3 years ago, but now so many people are aware of these cars and finding a good one with your budget may prove a fruitless quest!

    Interesting, for some reason I didn't think hybrids could run on LPG, shows how little I know!

    I've seen that car as well and it is very nice, although he only does small time dealing and his cars are still in KM's

    I get what you're saying but what I really meant was I'd buy one already imported, already registered and with the instruments converted from KM's to MPH. I know you pay a bit more but it means you get to inspect the car before parting with hard earned cash, plus you have the law on your side in respect of buying from a dealer.🙂

    I will, I've ordered some today so I'll try the brake light in the rear window and the others if it works ok. I bought the ones with the built in resistor to avoid warning lights... hopefully! £11 for 4.

    Just so hard to believe its been a year. A faultless one thankfully, including a drive to Austria. And my first MOT passed without an advisory. It's on 68k now with 6k covered by me. Also this year's insurance is the same as last year which has to be a first! Should I ever decide to buy another, I would always go now for a Japanese import, they're just so well looked after. Here's hoping I can say the same in 12 months time!

    True enough, but surely worth getting a quote. It's a complex job, and although any competent mechanic could no doubt take it on, I'd be happier with someone familiar with these cars, bearing in mind it took a group of mechanics some years ago over an hour to discover where the starter motor is.

    Good info, I've never had one go but now you mention how easy it is I may look at putting in an LED.

    It would seem that some Lexus main dealers do a reasonable fixed price on the older LS cambelt replacement so worth getting a quote.

    A couple of weeks ago I "filled" the AC on my wife's Vauxhall with the can of gas that Halfords use bit to no effect. We then took it to a specialist who charged £80, emptied it, did a vacuum test, filled with the correct amount of gas and PAG oil and all is fine.

    I checked my 93 MK2 recently but it was SORN last year, a brilliant car that never went wrong in my five years of ownership. Unless you include a £25 coil pack!

    Strange one this. As I was doing other stuff to mine today I noticed I have the tyre reset button as well, but I don't (thankfully) have the TPMS.
