  1. I would also recommend having a large contingency fund!
  2. Good news! The LS400 is without a doubt the best limo ever made. Look at the old Top Gear video where Quentin Wilson describes is as being more refined than a Rolls Royce!
  3. Overall, £1600 less than Lexus Hedge End quoted! My total price with shipping was £2,400 so I'm chuffed with that.
  4. No UK outlet sadly. That's how I ordered them, in pounds. They've gone up since Monday I see, nearly £20 more each.
  5. I know just what you mean about too good to install! I'm busy this weekend, then it's the New Forest for 3 days, so if the weather is reasonable I'll make a start next Thursday. I've got all the info I need so it should be ok. It's probably worth a mention that Lexus Spares who post on here were only £600 more for 4 genuine struts, a lot less than a Lexus main dealer.
  6. Hats off to Rockauto (and FedEx) 4 air struts ordered on Monday, delivered this morning! I paid the VAT up front but not customs, but no mention of it which seems odd, although the invoice said "customs pre paid"
  7. Interestingly I checked and they're now due for delivery today! Now that is quick.
  8. I didn't realise it had damage. Ah yes, that was a sight to behold, the only Century I've seen in the flesh. Took the seat out today, dead easy, and my parts are now at Stansted.
  9. Bleat? I thought that was my creaking suspension, does that mean I wasted my money?
  10. I was removing my rear seat today in anticipation of my new shock absorbers arriving and found this wool mark under a headrest. So no doubt about what they're covered in.
  11. I'll be looking for the lucky Yen! Do the Japanese do it in all their cars? I've pulled up the base parts and because I have fabric seats I don't have cooling hoses to remove. Also, because I'm not removing the rear shelf I can just pull the seat back forwards and lift up the shelf to give me access to the top mounts...hopefully. As of yesterday my parts have gone from Maryland to Memphis where the massive Fedex headquarters are so I'm assuming they'll arrive in the UK by tomorrow. If the weather is decent my plan will be to start doing the fronts next Thursday, and I'll fit all the new drop links at the same time. PS Did you see Naz has still got his other Celsior for sale? Really surprising.
  12. Thanks Roger, the parts have been picked up by FedEx and are due to arrive here next Monday. If I can get easy access to the rear top mounts I'll fit them myself. Paul Frost gave me some info explaining how it's done so I'll have a play with that tomorrow. I'm hoping to avoid removing the seat!
  13. True, but maybe Ian would look good with long blonde curly hair!
  14. The only air shocks they offer are Arnott, which from reading other reviews seem pretty good. if I've got my calculations right they'll work out about £1,000 less for the four compared to buying from Lexus. I've paid a little bit more for faster shipping, also I've paid the VAT up front, that just leaves customs duty and a small handling fee to Fedex. I'm just keen to get it back to how it should be. I may still fit them myself, depends how the old knees are!
  15. Much! Maybe they would be ok, maybe not. There's also suggestions that only the springs are made in the US whereas the struts are Chinese. Who knows, I'm just not risking it.
  16. As I've mentioned in a previous post, I ordered a coil conversion kit from Strutmaster in the US. Well, I've since looked at their customer reviews and quite honestly it scared me to bits! If it was here in the UK it may not be so bad, but being in another country, hmm. Perhaps I should have spent more time reading the reviews instead of the company claims. So, I contacted my bank and just managed to stop the payment, just! I've now gone completely nuts and ordered 4 new air struts from Rockauto. A much more expensive option but hopefully one that will be worthwhile.
  17. Then I reckon you want an RX, one without air suspension. The early ones can be bought for little money.
  18. I'm with you Jeff, I've learned so much about these cars since I had my first LS400 several years ago, the help and advice has been invaluable, and much money saved! I'm always so thankful to those who share their knowledge and experiences.
  19. I'm guessing that as the NX is such a recent vehicle the answer to your question may not be forthcoming. Being only 3 months old it's the dealers absolute responsibility to put it right regardless of how long it takes them.
  20. If it's the one I'm thinking of it seems to be about £70 for Blueprint.
  21. I don't know if this applies to Lexus but this problem occurs in Ford's, Vauxhalls and others, including my ex Vauxhall. Rain water that runs down the windscreen needs a place to go, usually there's a channel with a drain that gets blocked with gundge over the years so the water gets in the car via the heater fan assembly. My rear carpet was flooded so I assumed the problem was at the rear but it all came via the front. My drain hole was completely blocked. Worth checking maybe?
  22. Which ball jointy thing do you need?
  23. Welcome to the LOC, I hope the title of your post isn't self fulfilling!
  24. Thanks John. I bought my Celsior knowing a rear shock was bad, it had oil misting and bounced a lot. The front is now bouncing but not leaking visibly yet. Sadly there is no way to refurb air shocks. The ones I've ordered are apparently engineered to the LS and (according to their info) made to sit and stay at the correct ride height. The LS430 was made with conventional suspension as well, especially in the US, and I've been in another member's Celsior with coils and I couldn't tell the difference. I've spoken to the guys in the US and they convinced me! They told me they sold 14 kits for the 430 last month alone. Here's hoping. I'm happy to spend on what is otherwise an immaculate car inside, outside and underneath, and it's still only on 69k.
