  1. Then maybe it's time to rectify that motoring error!
  2. Horses for courses, both brilliant cars. I've had both and each has an advantage over the other. I disagree that the 430 is less comfortable, I think it's more comfortable plus much more space for rear passengers. Try them both and you'll be able to make your own mind up.
  3. I think "turns out to be faulty" is a foregone conclusion!
  4. I don't mind having both but I was thinking of buying led's and cutting the cases and doing it myself as the housings available are about £150.
  5. Yes, plus fitting!
  6. No, it's not a whistling, just a creak like dry rubber. Vaseline didn't work so I've tried something else but I won't be able to try it until tomorrow. Give in to the addiction, you know you must!
  7. Well I'm glad to know it's not just me! I got carried away with washing and waxing today but I'll try a few things tomorrow. I did try Autoglym rubber and vinyl conditioner but that doesn't do much. According to a YouTube video Vaseline is the stuff so I may try that on one door first. It seems mostly to be the fronts. It's not really a problem but I'd rather not listen to it. Strange how just that tiny lowering of the window silences it.
  8. Wow, you were lucky!
  9. I was wondering if anyone has done/considered this. The wing indicator light is only about 12" from the mirror so a possible connection point. Maybe it could be done with a small led rather than buying the whole thing. Just a thought.
  10. That's not a bad idea. Assuming it doesn't rain over the weekend I'll try various things and try the lock adjustment if necessary. I'm doing another drive to far west Cornwall in a few days so I want it noise free!
  11. I have tried all that. I've even cleaned the whole area thoroughly and lubricated it but still a creak with the window fully closed. As I said, with the window just 1mm down, not enough for wind noise, it goes so it must be the pressure of fully closed glass causing it. Sunny today so I'll just have to keep experimenting until I suss it out!
  12. What a star! Well done you.
  13. I've tried that, apparently lots of others have too but to no avail. I've tried rubber conditioner and other things.
  14. I'm on my third LS430 and all three have had the creaky doors. If you open the windows just 1mm it stops. Anyone else have this? Doing a search there's a fair amount of comments on this from the US. I've tried everything but no joy.
  15. When my MK2 LS had the blocked drains the car got so wet inside one night it set the alarm off at 4am. The flooding inside was so bad I considered scrapping it! As Malc says above, heavy industrial strimmer line is best, wire can cause damage. Also bear in mind that the drain tubes have rubber at the ends which can be damaged with wire causing even bigger problems. I used enough line so I could see it emerge under the car, then I gently ran water through to flush.
  16. Such a shame that Lexus made such a duff engine. Someone said it's the same engine as the Avensis but there seems to be plenty of those around. Anyway, good on you for saying you won't sell it on to someone else to have the problem!
  17. Nearly 1k!
  18. I replaced all four. I decided just to bite the bullet and be done with it. The total with shipping and vat came to £2,400. I fitted them myself so that saved a bit, there's nothing very complicated involved. I wouldn't be happy with one new Arnott, I'd want to change them as a pair.
  19. You're lucky to have one, I've only got a space saver!
  20. As far as the ride goes I can't say it feels any different to the originals. The fronts at the moment are around £380 each plus vat and shipping, for some reason the rears are over £500 each.
  21. It is very puzzling, and interesting that we don't see such drastic measures taken with other viruses. I'll just have to wait and see what happens as the weeks go by. At least my trip is just a holiday, for others it's much more serious.
  22. I've not had any personal experience with them. Sadly no one produced an aftermarket air strut until Arnott which I now have on mine, so competition for new parts is very small. Replacing the fronts is very easy and can be done within an hour or less.
  23. Sooo, assume I work for Betfred (which thankfully I don't!) What do you all think my chances are of not having my road trip to Austria cancelled at the end of April? What odds should I offer?
