  1. Good job, although the teddy bear looks a bit concerned!
  2. Sorry to hear that. The government have said they're going to put more money into roads and pot holes but I'm not holding my breath! I do report bad ones but they still take ages to do anything. What bugs me is the way they don't bother clearing all the stones and gravel from these holes when it gets strewn across the road.
  3. This is a guy who has done many and was an LS owner himself at one time. It's a long established business here in West Sussex, not just a lone mechanic doing it on his drive.
  4. I had some Toyota coolant left so I supplied that, although the existing coolant was replaced last year so maybe some was saved. And Mark, no I had it done locally by an excellent mechanic who has done many LS's. He says he can do it in 3-4 hours.
  5. We know the mileage for change is 100k or 10 years, but under my bonnet is the manufacturers label saying 100k kilometres. So is that confusing or what! Anyway, a total of £330 parts and label including water pump, tensioner and idler is pretty good I think. That's using the Gates kit I mentioned previously.
  6. Me too, it happens with all air-conditioned cars. Sometimes I'm surprised by the amount that comes out!
  7. There is a YouTube video somewhere showing how to dismantle the CD player so I guess it's possible that it could just need lubrication. Taking the unit out is fairly easy, I've done it a couple of times.
  8. It's a fairly complex system and I'm wondering if your amp is beginning to expire. The ML system on the LS can be troublesome and often is, usually speakers, but the amp isn't the best these cars have been fitted with. A few members have had trouble with theirs so hopefully one will come along soon to advise you on the next move or how to test the amp.
  9. So presumably the display still shows the disc playing when the sound drops? And is this something that's gradually happened or sudden?
  10. My worst rental cars over there were the AMC Pacer and the Gremlin!
  11. I don't think that looks too bad for a 14 year old. You may get an MOT mention of brake pipe corrosion but that's fairly standard. No sign of suspension oil leaks.
  12. That makes sense, I didn't think about Infinity. I think the thing that got me interested in big Japanese cars was the time we rented a Camry in Canada, it was such a lovely car, I've got fond memories of driving it through the Rockies at a legal limit of 60mph.
  13. Well done, and we look forward to many more pictures!
  14. Well I think it is anyway. Yet another car I've never seen. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-NISSAN-PRESIDENT-4-5-V8-300BHP-LEXUS-LS430-LS400-LS460-IMMACULATE/193500182538?hash=item2d0d82780a:g:jjAAAOSwXYZe2lyB
  15. I was reading that Gates belts are supplied OEM to VW and others.
  16. Gates kits have been mentioned so many times in the positive that I've had no hesitation in ordering one, which I'm having fitted this week. Mine has only covered 15k since its last change but as it was 10 years ago I can't take the chance.
  17. Real expense next Friday though with my cam belt being replaced. Still, that should last until 2030!
  18. Maybe but I filled both of mine up, a whole 5 litres gone!
  19. I think it's the rarity that I like, which is probably why I get a kick out of owning a Celsior!
