Yes they're fine.

It doesn't sound silly but the wheels nuts are tight. I think I need to get it up on a ramp and get more time spent on checking absolutely everything, something is clearly not as close fitting as it should be. I'm more than happy to spend money to get it sorted but finding the problem is, well, a problem!

Now not withstanding my car being associated with a supermarket trolley! I was driving locally today at very low speeds (20mph) and even at that speed there is a definite sensation that feels generally "loose" Hard to explain really but I don't have that tight, solid feel that my Volvo has for instance, or my wife's Astra. No play in the steering wheel but noticeable when driving, even over bumps to some extent. So annoying as I've been in there with a pry bar and so have the two mechanics. I'm thinking it has to be bushes, track rod ends or lower ball joints. When I replaced the shock absorbers some months ago the UCA's felt solid. Just odd that no one can find any play anywhere.

The tyres are only 3 weeks old and I had them re checked for balancing, plus it was serviced last week and MOT'd so I'm guessing they would have seen something.

It's all tight and secure John, a bit of a mystery. Also the car has only covered 72k.

Difficult one that as I've sold them! I think I'll try Mark's suggestion of swapping the wheels around as it's one I've considered. It does feel as if there's play somewhere but everything is tight.

I wonder if anyone can impart some words of wisdom here. I'm getting a wheel wobble at about 70mph(🤭) but perhaps not the usual feel, it just feels like there's some play somewhere. I've got new shock absorbers, new drop links and D bushes, plus I've got four new tyres and I've had a four wheel alignment done and the balancing checked twice. It's just past the MOT without an advisory and I've had two competent mechanics check it but both say there's nothing amiss. Any ideas, can you think of anything else that would cause a wobble? Brake calipers are fine and tyre pressures correct.

Wasn't this also an issue with the early Prius? The car accelerating and people heading for their doom! So glad your wife was is ok Piers, it must have been terrifying, I don't suppose the dog cared either way!

I'm not aware of recommended interval for replacing timing chains, if the engine has had the oil changed at the correct time it should be ok. The exception would be if it became noisy, although at 300k it may give you peace of mind to have it done. As far as suspension goes it's just pot luck, I wouldn't think of replacing them unless they became faulty or were mentioned on an MOT/service. It's likely they've been done anyway with that mileage.

Well AFS is adaptive front lighting system so does your car have it? If not just unplug them.

I can certainly comment on the dash reflection, it's been bad on every Lexus I've owned!

I think you've got it there, just make sure the rubber hose is suitable for steering fluid. When I changed my transmission hoses my local motor factors recommended fuel hose so that should work for you.

As suggested, micro bore copper pipe, easy to bend to shape, just get the right diameter.

I would start a new post in the IS section re your water loss problem, it is confusing going from headlights to head gaskets in the same post!

If your car is a 2059 I'm surprised you can still get diesel in the future😁 Lots of posts on this forum regarding the IS220d and water loss. Often the troublesome head gasket seems to be the issue, let's hope it's not so in your case. Are there no signs of leakage anywhere?

I really enjoyed looking through all those cars, it certainly took me back. There was even a bike I had called the Norton Jubilee, a terrible machine but great to see it again! And obviously I lusted after the Corvette Stingray!

I sure would!! I seen this brown SC today, think its the Pebble Beach edition? i saw one that colour recently, certainly not to my taste, whereas the blue is beautiful!

It could be something as simple as a transmission mount but I'd be vary wary. I would want a transmission specialist to confirm before I parted with my money. Also a rumble sounds far more serious than a vibration. Mine can find itself in 6th at that speed on flat surfaces, certainly 5th. Caution needed here I think.

Out of curiosity, is this something that would normally be picked up during MOT? it will only be picked up if the wear is excessive. Yours do look fairly worn although its not always easy to tell from a photo.

No way is that a bearing, the sound is far too tinny.

In the UK no one makes aftermarket ones, so as suggested it's main dealer or a risky used one.

Hard to say whether it's worth that kind of money. It is, if the description is true, more or less a brand new car, so in that respect it could be considered a bargain! One of my concerns would be convincing an insurance company of its value. All said and done, I'd love it!

Interesting, I think! I see mine is called a middle-aged car!
