  1. I fitted DRL's to my Celsior simply using the kit from ECP and lights from eBay. The wiring couldn't be simpler, two from the little control, one to positive and the other to earth and one wire joining a side light wire and the other wires to the new lights, very eady. They come on with the engine start and turn off when the headlights are switched on.
  2. At 85k I wouldn't change my a AT fluid unless it was dark and smells burnt, a shame they stopped putting a dipstick on later cars! The rubber hoses to the radiator can be difficult to remove from the transmission metal pipes but once you've got them off they go back easily. I only replaced mine because one was split but if they look ok they should be alright, unless you replace them for peace of mind. OEM is the way to go for a radiator if you can afford it, there are plenty of non OEM ones but many won't fit a UK car without adaptions which isn't ideal. You'll also need 5 litres of Toyota ready mixed red coolant. The foam in-between the radiator and AC condenser will fall apart but I've always just left it off. This is how confusing aftermarket can be, both LS430 radiators but slightly different, the top one with the nozzle on the top far right will fit properly but the bottom one won't because it doesn't have it so would need adapting. And some now don't have radiator caps.
  3. Thanks for the honourary wings but having seen your car in the flesh you can be captain and I'll accept copilot!
  4. Sort of, but the breeze higher up won
  5. Anything to do with flying is also not on my list of achievable things, last week I flew my little drone in Cornwall, it's still there buried somewhere in the undergrowth waiting for a future Tony Robinson and his team to find it!
  6. That looks simply superb! I can manage most mechanical jobs but electrical, no! I'd love to upgrade my screen for something that would work with an android phone but I simply wouldn't have a clue!
  7. There's a lot to be said for keeping the factory wheel size, my Celsior has 17" whereas the UK spec facelift has 18's which I don't really understand.
  8. I'd have taken Lady P down the pub, even if she was made of wood, obviously only to get her drunk enough to let me drive the pink Rolls, and I'd keep my pockets zipped up in case the light fingered Parker was around! There she is with Noel Gallagher at the wheel!
  9. Well done, and my apologies again for not replying. Did you remove the airlines or cut them? My car sits a little higher than with the original shocks, about the hight it would have sat with the height setting on high but it feels just as good or possibly better than air.
  10. My apologies, I've only just seen this. Have you fitted them yet?
  11. We're actually in Cornwall now, just 6 miles from Mousehole but everywhere here is just heaving with people, I've never seen Cornwall like it. We've got our dog with us and at around 11 years old is starting to have muscle spasms in her back legs. This is her watching the Cornish world go by. I've always had dogs and loosing them seems to get harder as I get older.
  12. I use Rock all the time now, sooo much cheaper than buying here. Just remember to choose FedEx international economy and pay the vat up front and you'll have your parts within a few days with nothing else to pay, generally my parts arrive in four days.
  13. Not withstanding your seemingly near addiction to Waxoyl, that looks pretty good in there!
  14. Be careful if you order a radiator from Rockauto. I don't know about the SC but on the LS430 the US setup is different, my coolant reservoir (being a Celsior) is attached to the radiator as in the US, but the UK setup is different so you'd need to check that.
  15. It depends whether you buy an OEM rad or aftermarket. Oil coolers are fairly cheap but I'd prefer the original setup.
  16. I've never heard of head gaskets going on the 4.3 engine and as long as it's serviced properly and had the cambelt replaced it's a tough old engine. The transmission/water issue can easily be prevented by replacing the radiator or fitting a trans cooler, all straightforward enough.
  17. They're great for undoing but when I use mine for replacing nuts and bolts I use the lowest setting to just pinch them up and then torque, although very rusted/seized bolts can be sheared when undoing.
  18. Just over two weeks ago I ditched the air setup on my LS430 and I wish I had done it ages ago. A fairly easy job, I imagine the RX is fairly straightforward. A 40amp fuse pulled which eliminates any warning lights. The only thing I would say is avoid getting really cheap ones. It may be worth trying Rockauto or Strutmasters in the US, I went for the latter. I witnessed a successful RX conversion in Brighton a couple of years ago!
  19. Silly is a perfect description! The design of later Lexus grilles is very different and becoming more popular as people get used to them, but this has gone a tad over the top I think, and I love Marmite!
