Purchase Advice for new car
agent_dess replied to agent_dess's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
@wharfhouse Not overly fussed with VED given that i currently now pay £340 so anything that can reduce that is going be a bonus lol @Mincey That's an interesting advice, didn't think the wheel came in multiple sizes, thought it would be standard min 18" but that something to look out for 👍 -

Purchase Advice for new car

Nice one 🙂 I have been leaning toward the IS300h.. but just cannot shake the allure of the higher torque and bhp on the IS200t 😉 The sensible side in me says IS300h but the little kid in me says IS200t 😂 choices choices Any feedback from IS200t owners would be awesome? -
Hey folks, I'm looking to treat myself to a new car this year. I have my eyes on: IS200t IS300h I currently have the IS250 2nd Gen which i do love but the VED of £340 is getting bit too much now and i hardly see anything above 20mpg anymore. Does anyone have an experience in both the machines above? I would love to test drive them but there is none in Scotland that i can go try. And believe it or not i have never test driven any cars that i have owned lol. i mainly do city driving these days so 300h would make sense but i still want a nippy car and ive read the 300h is no slouch despite having slower 0-60 on paper. On the flip side 200t really tempting but is the IS200t better than then IS250? Thanks 🙂

Very nice dude! 😁 Ive been thinking about the hydro-dipping of the centre console and door switch panels for a while but never got round to it and probably never will lol need a new car as kids getting bit cramped in the back of the IS250. Out of curiosity how did you get the lettering back onto the media panel?? But well-done it does look stunning 😀 👌

Easiest thing to do is call Lexus parts department and get the parts number from them then google the part for cheapest price. I ordered a starter motor and alternator for my IS250 from OpiesOil DENSO brand new both for £322 delivered. Just for perspective Lexus parts department quoted me: New Alternator £700 Remanufactured Alternator £318+surcharge Starter motor £561 I assume your 220D will have a different part/model number due different power requirements that come from the diesel engine.

Not starting

Would it not end badly if the battery terminals were hooked up wrong way round?? But need more info on any lights showing on dash. 3 possible issues: 1) Immobiliser issues (but i would check the battery on the key fob, i end up replacing it yearly) 2) Alternator not charging battery 3) Starter motor dead -
White smoke
agent_dess replied to Antony Roberts's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Suggest changing the PCV valve, i used to have a lot of white smoke, worse on cold morning when waiting at the lights. After changing PCV valve it stopped for a while but its been a year and slowly smoke is returning. I think its just the nature of the direct injection engine. There is videos of our US cousins doing oil catch can mods to their IS250 (youtube it). -
Boot won't open
agent_dess replied to iandlm's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I've had boot opening issues. It dragged on over 2 years, initially it wouldn't locked eventually it wouldn't open despite pressing the button but worked fine using the key. And the reason it works with the key is because it is mechanical, whereas the actuator runs on a separate cable if that makes sense? Easier to understand when you see it in person. It was the latch actuator that needed to be replaced. I got lucky and found a 2014 3rd gen latch that worked on my 2007 IS for £30 at the breakers. You can find the required part here: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/parts/lexus-is/lexus-is-phase-ii-2006-2013/lexus-is-2-exterior-interior/lexus-is-phase-2-2005-2008-boot-lock-and-actuator-assembly/ Hope this helps :) -

Mines is booked in for tomorrow, sadly i will be bussing to work :( I've nowhere to park a car in the city centre.. my first bus trip in 13 years lol -
When I I brought new disk and pads from Lexus Edinburgh last year they threw in the red grease for free ( I know crazy right?) Lol But it wasn't a tube but rather a a sachet, I guess you could say it was the workshop edition, I used it on the side pins, but also used ceraTech for other parts of the brake. I checked slide pins last week, still moving freely.

Lexus don't replace the screen. They replace the whole unit. If your out of warranty then that's £2800 + vat That said when in got my car the touch screen never worked (this is how i know how much lexus charge lol). i replaced the screen myself, at the time it cost around £200 for a new screen from china, i think there cheaper now. If you are fairly competent with taking things apart you can do the screen replacement in 1 hour.

You will need to remove the intake box from the car, so yes you will have to disconnect the pipe. I worked out and marked the area i wanted to cut out, drilled a hole using in drill in one corner and used that pilot hole to start cutting the rectangle with a jigsaw.. But bear in mind the intake box slopes so it will not be a straight forward cut. Others have used a dremel but i never had access to one. Finally file down the rectangle and the fins to make it smooth as possible.

I had originally placed an order for the joe-z intake pipe, but then read on US forums that alot of'people.were just modding the intake box.. So I thought I would give it a try, once done i was so impressed with the results that I canceled the intake pipe order... My little kids love the noise the car makes, best thing is that car is quiet when u need it to be and a beast when u hit 3-4k rpm :) Mod the intake box u will not regret it :)
