Yeah its the anti-glare coating, should be covered under warranty but given how Lexus Edinburgh always seem to talk their way out of honouring warranty claims, i didn't even bother asking.
New media screen can be bought from Lexus Parts Direct at £82.24 ... it was far cheaper just to remove the coating 🙂
Also some of the other model variations have have all the ports you do plus a few extra in the back, in theory as long as they have the min ports your require the extra port won't matter.
I've ordered a tube of Loctite 595 which should do the job, but the hassle is going to be taking bumper off to remove headlamp so i can 1st locate thethe source and then seal it.
I would disconnect 12v battery if I was going to do any work with airbags such as seat removal, but all I want to do is release the mechanism holding the airbag unit on steering wheel so I can lift it out to access the cruise control stalk screws.
While it didn't look too bad when in the car I knew something had to be done about the coating.
So decided to take it out of the car and rub it down with Meguires PlastX then wipe down with glass cleaner on microfiber cloth.
Happy with the end result 😁
Does anyone know the part number for a replacement rear door window trim passenger side OR if the trim clips can be bought separately? I think the whole trim will need to purchased.
I'm not entirely sure if mines is broken or not but on my car the passenger rear door trim is sticking up toward middle pillar, I've tried pushing it down but I suspect the last 🤬 owner may have broken the clip... So before I go taking it apart i would like to source the replacement parts.
So raining today, went on a 50m round trip, got home and headlamps had condensation again, so defo must have a crack somewhere was really hoping to not have to take the bumper off but looks like there is no avoiding it. 😑
I've dried mines out, really hoping it was caused by the indicator bulb not being sealed properly, will find out next time it pours or when I wash the car.
I called Lexus Edinburgh and they basically said condensation is not covered under warranty cause it was not like that when it left the factory, therefore either it has a crack or damages caused by something like a bump which has caused it.
I know old topic but was looking for wiper blades for my IS300h which I have ordered from ECP.. a pair of Denso for £23 with their never ending sale 😁 but my vote always goes to Denso wiper, I used them through the 9 years I had IS250.
One final question... when i start the car its silent for about 10secs then the petrol engine starts.. should you wait about 30secs after that for oil to flow though the engine before moving off?
In the is250 i always used to wait 30secs before moving off on a cold start to help reduce engine wear....
Fair enough 🙂
My next grip is the EV Mode.... i need to read the manual properly but i only manage to last about 20secs in EV mode, is there a max speed before engine takes over? what is the exact function of EV mode?
While its not comparison but our Kia Caren (7 seater Diesel) made that same 3mile round trip on only 2 mile usage range with heating and fan set to max this morning.. i would expect much better from the IS300h. Sure the reliability and £10 ved you can live with it but isn't the whole point of the hybrid for city i.e. short driving?
Dunno im not impressed with fuel consumption.
This morning i travelled 1.5 miles and before i even reach 0.5 mile the range went from 193 to 191 and by the time i got back so total 3 miles it was 187 range does this mean it burned 6 miles of fuel on a 3mile journey? and yes i was light footed and mostly cursing along without touch gas pedal.... i will take the comp readout with a pinch of salt.
Its been running on E5 fuel. My IS250 wasn't this bad.
It seems to be more time and energy is spent charging the battery lol..
I have replaced all 4 spark plugs last weekend.
I could argue 1 factor in fuel consumption is the crappy Chinese branded tyres i have at the moment i will be replacing them in a few months.
I have to say im impressed with the rear calipers... they have done away with the stupid single pin and spring mechanise that they had on the IS250 mk2.
The rear caliper is now like the front one but smaller.. i attempted brake change yesterday could not loosen the carrier bolts so couldnt get disc off... either its stuck from factory or the last person who did them over torqued them (probably impact gun). So ive pinged my locally indy garage to get price for disc only and then i can resume with pad change, calipers need a bit of refreshing too.
