  1. Got chance to try the Ultra High Definition Shampoo this evening thought I would let you know what I thought, basically it is a lovely shampoo and is the best I have ever used its a lovely thick substance to work with and cleans well you really cant ask for me. However I would say the Carchem shampoo is 90% as good and far most cost effective at retail prices. If money is endless I can honestly say I don't think there will be a better shampoo out there than UHD at the moment, however Carchem does exactly the same job almost as well for a cheaper price. I will play with them both over the next few months as I have enough shampoo to last a good long while and see if I notice any major differences but overall you wont go far wrong with either
  2. No major updates as I have spent the last week and a half gathering information and products for a major detail session, I have pretty much everything in place for it now just need to find the time and weather. Alongside getting all my products sorted I have decided to get them all organised and tidy so it is easy to complete future valets, I may have taken my OCD to the next level with this one though, colour coded boxes for my different microfiber cloths that I use for different products on and around the car!
  3. Got myself a bit excited and bought a load more products after reading a few reviews on Detailing World So after a discount code for clean and shiny I bought myself some: Auto Finesse Spritz - supposed to give an fantastic OEM look to interior plastics, I currently use Meguiars but it is a bit too shiny for my liking and doesn't quite have the look I would like Auto Finesse Total - Again supposed to be great on alcantara in the centre of my seats and steering wheels Microfibre Madness Incredimitt - have not read a single bad review about tjis mitt seems to be the daddy of all mitts by those in the know Microfibre Dry Me Crazy - Nice bit well rated towel to dry after washing G3 Clay Mitt finally arrived Then the Autoglym rep turned up in the van this afternoon and gave me a cracking deal on UHD Shampoo that made it pretty much as cost effective as the Carchem so it would have been rude to not purchase a bottle and at least give it a try for myself
  4. Very clever gents! No sun to speak of since cleaning with the new cloth but even so still so far so good, waiting for a nice setting sun that seems to be the usual worst time to see anything on the screen, fingers crossed for a bit of sun soon so I can report back
  5. Anyone on here big into their roof boxes? I am looking for help and advice, basically last year me and the Mrs had a little girl, she's not 6 months old and we are looking to take a trip away, I can get most of the require bits of pieces in the boot but wont have room for some suit cases for me and the Mrs I already have the genuine Lexus IS Roof bars that I bought in anticipation last year, but now I need to get a roof box sorted, ideally something with space for bags and some bits and food or something if we go self catering. But also not so big that it becomes too big to store and impossible to get up and down from the roof. Cost is a factor this is something I will be using every day so don't want to waste money on it, ideally second hand and can sell it for similar money to what I purchase it for. I have no experience with roof boxes are they are fairly universal mounting thing as I think Thule make the roof bars for Lexus. If anyone has any ideas and can offer any advice with what to buy or what to look out for it would be really appreciated. Thanks Attached is a picture of my car a few months ago with the roof rack installed so you can see what shape and design I have if only certain boxes will mount on to it
  6. Picked up one of these 39p badboys, seems ridiculously cheap compared to all other glass cleaning cloths I have seen but fingers crossed it works! So cleaned my glass with some Meguiars Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner until the glass looked perfectly clean like usual, then I polished the glass with this new cloth as instructed, fingers crossed this is the finishing touch my glass has been missing when the sun catches the glass on the awful angle that usually produces glare Thanks very much for tip Rayaan
  7. Not required on this but interesting to know this 3D printing amazes me
  8. That website has a lot of stuff on it! May enquire if I drew it with dimension if they could produce it hmmmm
  9. I don't read a newspaper though so this would just make my weekly routine hard work going out and buying newspapers as and when required much easier to just have a dedicated colour coded cloth to work with. I have previously tried newspaper years ago and didn't really rate it, I'm sure its down to technique though as I have heard about news paper for years
  10. Thanks, she wants to nip into town tomorrow anyway apparently so will use this as an excuse to "just nip in and take a look" if they don't keep them anymore may try these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/21726/Lakeland-Home-Glass-Polishing-Microfibre-Cloth quite a lot more expensive but Lakeland stuff is usually very good and only 10 minutes drive from Kendal where I live
  11. I have more glass cleaners than I can shake a stick at, never been happy with the finish and have always caught smears in the sun, looks like its a trip to Home Bargains for the Mrs next time shes in town to get me one, to help her find them what colour are these cloths? Thanks
  12. I rarely use sat nav but my 2010 one has previously told me there is an accident ahead and suggested alternative routes?
  13. Agreed it looks better than the standard car in my opinion
  14. Don't know anyone with access to one unfortunately :-(
  15. I don't mind the sat nav myself, but tried a few ways to get my music collection integrated into the Lexus but they were all slow and clumsy. The ipod classic is easy to navigate through the head unit and quick. It hurts me to recommend Apple but I think Lexus developed the head unit to work with Apple
  16. Welcome fantastic and wise choice too! As for information system my advice would be buy an ipod classic, I did the same thing when I got mine despite really disliking apple and itunes but coupled up to the Lexus information system it works very well for my large music collection
  17. That is stunning subtle and classy really like it
  18. Ok so this one is very rough around the edges and a bit of a mock up for my wireless arm rest charger, please don't judge it on looks it was made for function. Which I can confirm it functions perfectly. I'm a big wireless charger fan and user, have 1 next to the sofa at home, 1 next to my bed for bedtime and 1 on my desk at work so despite using my phone a lot for work purposes when estimating, I really don't need 1 in the car but hell why not its a project that so far has cost me £10 This is the tray that just sits there but it easily removed if you need to get to something under the tray My wife's phone placed in and charging dock (mine was being used to take the picture), obviously it works with either phone or any phone with wireless charging capabilities I would like to look at ways to work on the dock to make it look OEM, as I mentioned it is very rough, would like to get a much neater and nicer shape with removable bumper supports then have the unit flocked to match the interior of the arm rest, but I cant figure out how to achieve a nice OEM looking unit
  19. What should I do with my bare polyurethane side lips whilst I spray it over the side of the car? Will masking tape protect them? Or just spray them and get a sponge and wash it off them straight away?
  20. For anyone who may be interested here was my car covered in Revolt, not much to see as I don't personally think my car had much in the way of iron contamination on the bodywork but it worked beautifully on my wheels
  21. Fusso is here, still waiting for the IPA and some Autosmart Tardis to arrive and I'm about set for the big detail day. I decided to get some Autosmart Tardis over panel wipe for 2 reasons 1 so my boss doesn't moan at me and 2 because Tardis can be washed off with water and will leave nothing on the panel where as panel wipe just evaporates but isn't designed for detailing so though Tardis may be a better bet
  22. Out of interest what is your weekly routine on your cars once you have done a major detail finishing off with soft99 fusso? Had a couple of hours free time this evening so had a play with the Carchem shampoo and revolt. Initial impressions of the shampoo are good it's a decent product and a little goes a long long way. Decent amount of suds and did everything i could ask of it. I'm wondering if like you mentioned above i used 40ml in a bucket what effect that would have as far as creating something similar to AG UHD and still be a more cost effective solution. There's no reason to waste product and use more than 2 cap fulls to clean a car, would do it as more of a test to see if it made a similar effect to AG UHD. Then moving onto revolt i tried this over my entire car and the wheels and i now know where the name comes from it smells well revolting! Product seems good nothing much happened on my bodywork it essentially just stayed clear however on my wheels even though i had just cleaned and dried them before applying the revolt they still went a nice purple colour and once i had washed all the revolt away i was left with the cleanest wheels i have seen since the day i fitted them! So decided to spend an hour or so AG HD waxing them then giving them a dose of AG wheel sealer so essentially that's the wheels bossed and looking great. Just waiting for a few more products to arrive and to decide on which polish to actually use then once i have a full free day i will get the whole car sorted and looking better than ever before hopefully! So far though great recommendations on the Carchem products really like them.
  23. Genuinely hope you get somewhere with this as i would love to see the roads improved around here also but i guess there is a risk of once they admit fault with one would it open the flood gates for others blaming the road surface for their accident. Good luck with it and totally understand you have to try and fight for your lads innocence on his driving record but don't be too shocked if they just point blank deny any liability. If you manage to get the pot hole sorted you can at least take pride in that as it may be the difference between someone else's life and death you just never know.
  24. I deal with insurance companies all day everyday on insurance claims and to be honest they are not going to even attempt to fight a council looking at the photos. I would agree with above personally and any insurance assessor will probably do the same. Is he 100% it wasn't just a slight lapse of concentration and he has his hit the banking more than the whole and tried to over correct? Did something very similar when I was 17 Looking at the pot hole how far over would the vehicle need to be to allow over 50% of the tyre to drop into the hole and that be the cause of loosing control, it looks from the photo as if you would be pretty much up the banking before you would slip into the hole
