  1. Hi all, I'm looking to buy a Lexus IS200 again after stupidly selling my 2000 SE model a few years ago. I have £1000 available (unless anyone is interested in a 1999 Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 SRI with full factory fitted Irmscher kit and letterbox exhaust as part ex) and am looking for a SE or Sport model, not too worried about mileage but could do with some MOT on it.

If anyone has anything availabe, please get in touch.

    Cheers

  2. You would be better off looking on e-bay, auto trader, pre-loved and gumtree. The only people allowed to sell on the forum's are Gold members, which limits your chances. Most forum members also seem to keep their cars once bought.

You will find one, just be patient and the right will turn up.

Thanks, I didn't realise about the Gold membership thing. Been wanting one ever since I got rid of mine and am determined to get another. Cheers for your help

  3. Hi all, I'm wanting to get hold of another Lexus IS200 (SE or Sport) after I was forced to sell mine to keep the missus happy so we could afford to move to a house she wanted (worst decision I have made in about 6 years). Anything with MOT considered but I don't have much money to play with following a run of bad luck. Mileage is not much of an issue as mine had 145,000 on it when traded in and it still felt great.

PM me if you have anything or might be interested in swapping.

    Thanks

  4. Hi all, unfortunately the time has come for me to consider letting my beloved IS200 go. My only reasons for thinking of selling are that it has had a little damage done to it because of where I have to park it overnight. needless to say I'm livid about it but I can do nothing about it as I have been seriously struggling money wise since mid way through last year. I would get the repairs done to it but I am worried about spending the money to fix it and some to$$er damaging it again so I just thought I would ask you guys what you thought it might be worth or what I might expect to get for it if I advertised it for sale. THIS IS NOT A SALES PITCH as I now realise you must be a gold member to sell cars on here, I'm simply trying to get an idea what it may be worth.

Anyway, here are the details: -

2000 W Reg IS200 SE in silver, manual gearbox

Approx 144,500 miles but used daily (and has never let me down in over 2 years)

Excellent runner having only ever needed a new drivers side front wheel bearing (done), middle exhaust pipe (done) and 1 exhaust gasket (advisory on last MOT which was done within 2 days) need changing

17" original Lexus alloys (need a refurb due to kerbing that was on them when I bought the car)

    All the usual SE spec

Original stereo would not play CDs so I have relaced the entire system with a double din Clarion Max688RBT 7" touchscreen DVD/MP3 player with built in Bluetooth (nearly £700 when bought new, seriously nice stereo) and rear USB port (which I use with a 16GB USB Stick to hold endless music), a Juice 1200w amp driving Vibe Edge ED306 Front Component Speakers and a twin 12" Armageddon shallow depth Active Sub in the boot (built by Rockford Fosgate and leaves loads of boot space) although I would have to consider pulling the stereo and sub but that's negotiable

Full service history with original Lexus wallet and all documentation

3 Keys including 2 Master and 1 Valet key

Taxed till end of January 2012

Has 4 very good Falken Asymetric tyres fitted which cost me about £300 just over a year ago, give much better grip in all weather conditions compared to all the Beemers I kept going straight past in the snow last winter!

HIDs fitted to front and all other front bulbs replaced with Ring Ultra Xenons

    Never been smoked in

New front discs and pads fitted in February 2011

    Bad points:

The car was keyed twice down the passenger side the same day my missus opened the door into a bollard in the car park (grrr). Had quotes for about £220 to sort the lot out and the next bad point too)

Scuff on rear drivers side wheel arch (was there when I bought the car)

Small dent in the roof, rear drivers side by the aerial, I still have to try tap it out

Anyway, I am just wondering what people think this car might be worth if I was to advertise it as I have no idea.

    Cheers

  5. Hi guys, I finally got around to installing my in car system today to my Lexus IS200. I have put in a Armageddon double 12" active subwoofer, a Juice JA590 2 Channel amp driving a set of Edge ED306 component speakers all connected to my Clarion MAX688RBT head unit.

Strange thing is now, when I accelerate in my car I get a strange sound, kinda like a turbo spooling up and it eases off as I ease off the throttle. Do I have a bad earth somewhere or have I connected something wrong as it all sounds really nice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Hi all, recenly my Fli Trap 12 has started cutting out at relatively low volumes after already killing the built in amp that came with it and now the Alpine amp I replaced it with is struggling (it was old and only a backup anyways) so I've been looking at potential replacements.

I'm on a seriously tight budget and need to retain as much space as possible in my boot (Lexus IS200 SE) so here are the 2 that I have been looking at: -

    Vibe LiteAir C12

    Armageddon BP212S-A

    PO-BP212SA_MED.jpg

Now I know all about Vibe but wondered if the LiteAir range are any good given their small size but I know nothing about the Armageddon range so wondered if anyone has used one of their sub kits?

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance

  7. Hi all. I recently changed the front brake discs and pads on my IS200 SE along with the slide pins, bushes and boots after following the excellent guides I found on this site. Everything went great and I was quite chuffed with myself until I came to refit the drivers side caliper. The top caliper bolt (that holds the caliper holder to the wheel hub) seemed to be threading in fine until it reached where it should have stopped but it just kept turning. I then got onto Lexus Parts Direct & ordered 6 new bolts (overkill I know but I wasn't taking any chances) after an engineer told me the thread was sheered. The new bolts arrived yesterday so I have just tried fitting them and the new bolts are doing exactly the same.

I use my car daily for getting to work and the MOT is due this weekend so I'm panicking quite a lot now. Does anybody know what can be done to fix this problem as I'm really desperate?

    Thanks in advance

  8. The clunking when braking and turning slow is a common problem,

I just fixed mines by taking out the slide pins in the caliper

and giving them a good grease. Then taking out the pads and shims

then give them a slap of copperslip. I also took out the brake clips

and widened them a bit. When the pads wear down they start knocking/clunking

so if everything is tighten up again it seems to help.

    Hope this helps.

Sounds like its worth a try but have any diagrams or anything so I know exactly what parts to remove and grease up? I'm pretty competent but I don't want to remove something that won't go back in

  9. Thanks for all the help guys, been offline for a while and only just checked the site. I'll try stripping the brakes down and copper greasing the bits mentioned as I have some of that knocking about, and I'll also try the clutch squeak fix posted. I'll post an update when I've had chance to strip them out, have to try that before I replace parts as I'm so broke I may have to sell my beloved Lexus (sob)
