  1. Most Lexus dealers ( if not all ) don't have their own ‘bodyshop’, they will have access to a lexus approved repair center, as an example Lexus Sheffield use somewhere in Doncaster.
  2. Seen a UX towing a caravan on the A1 yesterday, anyone on here ? I didn't think they had the towing capacity ?
  3. I thought that if a Lexus had any accident history they wouldn't sell them under the ‘lexus approved’ banner 🤔
  4. Happy days, screen replaced and its a Lexus one, with no extra to pay above the agreed insurance excess. 👍
  5. In the ‘good old days’ there would be a covered hole in the steering rack housing that you put the shank of a drill bit through, to mate up with a hole in the rack itself, this would center the rack, then you could adjust the tracking and steering wheel to be in the right place.
  6. So, after much deliberation, i decided to stay with the run flats and settled on a pair of Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 tyres to replace the worn out original Bridgestones on the front, the original fitment rears are showing little signs of wanting to wear out, even at 30,000 miles. The Hankook’s are rated for noise at 67db, against the Bridgestones at 72, and they are certainly much quieter on the road, the only whines and rumbles are now definitely coming from the back, so all in all, for me, a much better choice. Car is due a minor service now, so more expence 😂
  7. Just spoken to the guys at my local Auto Windscreen depot, all of theirs are made by Pilkington, seems all I can do is ask the insurance for a genuine replacement and hope for the best, the VIN number should ensure it’s the correct one.
  8. Sadly our Takumi has a cracked screen, the insurance want to use Auto Windscreens to replace it with one of theirs, I would rather have a genuine one fitted, anyone else gone through this ?
  9. If someone wants to pinch it that bad, they can have it, as long as it doesn't comeback thats fine, I'm fully insured up including GAP insurance for the next 3 years or so 👍
  10. Its a UX ! no one is going to want to steal it 😂 and i say this as the owner of a Takumi.
  11. What products are people using to clean/refresh the black plastic trim on the bumpers and around the wheel arches ?
  12. Fourbanks, thanks, have you noticed much difference in road noise ?
  13. Colin, i’m well aware of all the implications, i spent many years in the motor trade, i just want to canvas opinion from other UX owners who might have gone down other options before i start spending money.
  14. Our 69 Takumi will soon be needing new shoes so am canvassing for opinions, i know this has been talked to death, but I am interested in peoples real world experiences. I think the original Bridgestone run flats are very poor, not much grip and very noisy, ive driven a new UX with the next generation Bridgestone tyres and i dont think they are any better tbh. So the options as i see it are, alternative brand run flats that are much quieter on the road, normal 18’s maybe a 60 profile and carry a puncture kit, or swap to 17 rims with a 60 or 70 profile with a puncture kit. Thanks
  15. Hi Bezzer, not sure, i will delete both phones and reload the wifes first to see if that makes any difference 👍
  16. Hi, my wife and i both have the same phones, both can connect to the car ok, there is a difference in how the system reacts to calls though. On my phone when a call is incoming the ring tone plays through the car speakers as you would expect. However on my wifes phone the car shows an incoming call on the dash and screen but no ringtone through the car speakers. I can't find a setting in the system and both phones have the same set up. Any thoughts ? thanks
  17. Thanks, next time I’m near there I will pop in and ask 👍
  18. We have only had ours since early December, but every tank full has shown consistent 50+ mpg figures over about 2500 miles, on a mixture of local and motorway drives, it seems to be a bit more economical on normal than eco as well 🤔
  19. Twice today, on Separate journeys, the sat nav ‘lost position’ on the screen, showing us miles away from where we actually were, only returning to normal after a full switch off and back on again, is this a known issue ? ( 69 Takumi )
  20. My ( new to me ) 69 Takumi has 22000 miles on its original Bridgestone run flat tyres, still loads of life left. Which is a shame cos I think they are rubbish, if they are not whistling, then they are rumbling, whining or shimmying over white lines, wet or dry. Can’t wait till they wear out tbh 😂
  21. As above, I’ve looked through the menu’s but can’t find a way to up the volume of the speed camera alert beeps, anyone help on this one ? Ta
  22. Martin, I take it yours is the second generation dashboard ? The early ones are different to that, I’m still looking for an original manual rather than having to go through a downloaded copy, if anyone has one and they could upload a picture of any printed identification numbers from it that might help me get one from Lexus I would be grateful.
  23. Quick update to this thread, I’ve contacted my Lexus dealer to try and buy a new Navigation manual, ‘never seen one was the reply’ so I send them a photo of one from the web, ‘ nope, never seen one ! Can’t help you ‘
  24. Regards the cost of the road tax, we have just bought a 69 reg low miles Takumi for that very reason, the tax is ‘only’ £170, it was the only time the list price of that model was below the £40,000 threshold of the newer cars.
