  1. Well my quest has ended and on Thursday evening I am collecting this lovely example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381312150759?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT 2008 IS250 SE-L MM Cannot wait. Now, what mod first?? lol
  2. Can you fit aftermarket HIDs to an SE spec? Any complications?
  3. I did some searching on ebay etc, there are some poly copies on there. I haven't contacted main dealer yet as I am still shopping for an IS250 Kitting it out will come after Summer I expect
  4. Can anyone list the extras an SE-L would have that an SE would not? trying to decide if I actually need an SE-L or can just go for SE
  5. Hi Ken, welcome to the club of brake judder! ha I actually picked up a low mileage hub carrier assembly this weekend. Hoping this swap with a new disc cures mine for good. Will keep you updated.
  6. Ok great. Hope it cures it this time........ :-(
  7. Lexus22 Are you sure only the one disc needs replacing? I've done about 1000 miles on this last set now??
  8. Well, my motor has just chewed through its 4th pair of brand new discs after just 400 miles AGAIN Used replacement hub assembly on order, once I have made my final long drive to a wedding at the end of June a new set of discs will go on and the car and it will be for sale. Toooooo much money wasted to this point :-(
  9. That's an interesting point. I have goodridge braided hoses fitted so suspect it isnt that.
  10. Pads have been mintex each and everytime
  11. 1st replacement set was Mintex (standard) 2nd replacement set was Mintex (drilled from ebay seller) 3rd replacement set was MTEC (drilled) This latest set, I dont know, but I didnt go into it as he offered refund if they start warping again.
  12. Agreed. This is why I haven't done it so far, though another member contributing to this thread has done it and cured the problem with the brakes. This is the only reason I would consider it myself.
  13. UPDATE So my car went back into the garage that fitted my last set of brakes (these being my 3rd set in 2 years). This garage is an independent Toyota specialist and the owner has worked on IS200's since they came out in 1998. He put a dial gauge on both discs. NSF was waaaaay out, and OSF was out a little. He then put dial gauge on the hub flange and both sides were absolutely perfect. He said he didn't have confidence in the brakes I was using as a lot of drilled/grooved discs are simply very cheap discs imported from china, then drilled in UK and sold on with markup. He is probably right. So he put on a set of discs from the supplier he uses and has fitted to IS200's for years and years. I explained I wasn't 100% happy with this solution as this will now be 4th set of discs to go on........so he offered to refund the cost of the discs if they do not hold up after wearing in. As with before, new set of discs the car drives and brakes like a luxury car should.....if they warp again after 400 miles, I will be back to him for a refund and 2x hub carriers for him to swap over.
  14. Hey. I am booked back into the garage that fitted my last set of new brakes a few weeks back. As I have mentioned these are the 3rd set that have warped after just 500 miles from new. They are going to give the front suspension a thorough going over with test drive and also test the run out on both sides as I haven't done this, only NSF. Hopefully they will find that the NSF has issues (somewhere) as that is where I hit a pothole. I have a replacement hub assembly for the NSF and new disc also so if they don't find anything else wrong I will have them fit these just as you guys above have proven it worked for you. Reluctant to fit the hub till after a professional has had a proper look as I had a new bearing and flange put in some time back which I will lose with the replacement hub. Updates will come Weds (wish me luck).
  15. Cool thanks for the advice, confirmed what I suspected. Just hope I can still get a genuine GTX kit
  16. I believe its called the GFX Bodykit is that correct?
  17. Hi all, I will be purchasing an IS250 in the Summer. Though I am going to buy an SE-L model in order to achieve top spec on electronics and interior, I do love the styling of the 2008 SR model. Does anyone know if I can buy the styling extras that come on the SR? Or maybe an aftermarket supplier that looks the same? Dont want anything over the top, OEM style sublte skirts like the SR is what I am looking for. Thanks
  18. Probably the best way forward as I know it is harder to add electronics etc than it is to stick exterior styling on. Anyone have any links or recommend any suppliers for exterior styling? Can you buy the SR trim from Toyota?
  19. One last thing, I really prefer the external styling of the SR however don't want to miss out on the luxury extras inside the SE-L. Am I better to buy the SE-L and add some styling or buy an SR and add leather etc? Which would be easiest to achieve?
  20. No not yet. Wanted to swap the hub assembly over the Easter weekend but Fri/Sat was raining and Sun/Mon I had plans.
  21. Hi all, Anybody know where I could get these alloys from? If main dealer does anyone have a part number pls? http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/accessories/images/18in_isp_mode_alloy_wheels_1.jpg
  22. Yeh I fitted new slider pins last year as part of this saga haha
  23. My thoughts exactly.....cool. I have spare disc....maybe Ill do that at the weekend. I am concerned about the offside though as the pads aren't making 100% contact :-(
  24. Ok With regards to the replacement used hub.....what are the signs of a bad bearing? The used hub I have to go on, spins evenly without any play whatsoever. It does seem to be quite tight however. For instance if I try to spin it, it will only spin for half a turn. Is this correct?
  25. I can 'feel' it on the NSF when I brake plus I hit a large pothole on that corner after which these symptoms have started. I will however get the garage who fitted the last set of brakes to do a run out check and inspection as they might feel slightly responsible. I have a hub ready to go on if they confirm its NSF. QUESTION: The NSF disc looks like it has evenly worn (the side I suspect) but the drivers side looks like the pad is not making 100% contact. Could this indicate my diagnosis of NSF is actually wrong and the OSF is wearing incorrectly?
