Nick hi From my posts from 31st January in the Post ISSUES AFTER HIBERNATION Malc Posted Monday at 03:52 PM well guys ....... it's done it again today Been a couple of weeks since she's been out and about ... started fine today, a bit warmer and sunny and dry .. going to get some essential cat food at P-at- H a 5 mile drive ...... just approaching there and POP it all goes off again ............ so I didn't stop, just carried on home .. at the traffic lights put her in P and when the lights change she won't move into Drive .... so I pressed the Gear Override button on the console and she pops into D ok and off I go ......... 5 miles to home and radio works, cigar lighter works ( my phone charges in there ) but all else looks a bit " dead " ... just getting into my turning and BLIMEY it all sparks into life again and seems fine So if it self heals it also likes playing around Asked my indy and he says electrics not his strong point so I'm awaiting his positive suggestion I guess it's a local Auto-Electrician I need then ? Anyone know of one on Sheppey, Kent Malc

Gentlemen ...... this is proving incredibly elusive for me to find sadly in my part of Kent I need one to identify my intermittent issue that's just a little more than bugging me ! There are those " Specialists " that are saying to cancel the booking for attention if it's not showing itself as a " permanent " problem two weeks before the day ........or later ! And another who looks brilliant on line, and local, but apart from being able to send him by email, his phone seems unobtainable ...... guess covid or whatever So then, if anyone knows of a Kent based Specialist Auto Electrician, preferably local to me on Sheppey / Medway / Maidstone Kent then I would be so so grateful Thank you Malc

Jonathan .... higher cars off the ground umm ! ....... are you sure they are that useful long term with leg issues, if that is your dear wife's issue ...... my back and leg issues, my partner's knee too, her ( grown up adult ) daughter too ........... getting in higher is often a problem ... getting out is ok tho' BUT again too low a car too is often a problem The Ls400 seems just about right tbh ..... for us anyway ..... old fashioned height ! It's all down to personal choice and often trial and, heaven forbid, error Malc

Jonathan .......... a very very fine looking car with impeccable history and going forward should be a tremendously great value car for a discerning new owner. Well done with her. If I could justify buying her I would bite your hand-off ................ now, how on earth could I justify it all ...... she'd go mad indoors ............ just to add to the "madness" were all feeling in this terrible time of lockdown and tragedy surrounding virtually all of us right now Let me think ....... but I'm not renowned for deciding on anything in a short ( to me ) two weeks or so timeframe I sincerely hope it will go to a member who will fully appreciate what a great car is on offer here Best wishes Malc

Driving on snow
Malc replied to Chris elliott's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
isn't a good deal of the consideration to have a vehicle that can plough itself thru some of those drifts and get out the other side ok .......... and continue onwards ? I don't know the clearance level under the NX nor any other vehicles tbh BUT I'd have thought a big Toyota Land Cruiser of some sought would be my preferred " safe " vehicle ..... and summat else for normal driving conditions maybe ........ a lesser car is ok provided it does actually get you thru those drifts and out the other side, NX or not I've been driving my AWD 56 plate Honda Legend these past days in the icy road conditions here in Kent .... ( knowing my Ls400 would fail at the first attempt ) and then popping it into " snow mode " also helps sensitise the traction and makes the AWD better responsive I guess ........... and it seems to work ok too Malc oh for the white stuff to vanish eh ! -
Alexander ...... I see there's a really looking " honest " but a bit scruffy N reg one just appeared on autotrader at £1500 ... at 282k miles it should be good for another 700k miles too .... they'll probably take a sensible offer on it, the MOTs look ok too ....... just a trade-in that probably owes them nowt ! Malc

Hey, saw this Aspen Green ( same as mine ) in the Morrisons carpark at Neats Court Sheppey today ! What a stunning looking car If you own this then please be on here ......... 136500 miles and clear MOT Not seen you before on Sheppey or anywhere near ......... are you very very brave ........ taking her out in the snow and ice, well done ! Malc

BUT he needs to unlock / realise his profit on the NX ! it's often a fine balancing act ( I know from my days as a car dealer many moons ago ) and in this lockdown climate the finer considerations are even finer to tune Malc

jeez, can't begin to think the servicing and maintenance £££££ you've spent with Lexus ............ £2900 wot a dopey valn. for trade-in Lexus should be ashamed of themselves 😲 Malc

unlikely ...... I recently watched part of an episode and lo and behold ....... a simple shot of her at the steering wheel chatting to the mike and the boss on the steering wheel, well, you couldn't make it up .. was that of a Bentley guess she drives that ( her own ? ) car most of the time, the camper being for effect eh ! I've found Saga pretty good .......... of recent times However I'm yet to tackle them on the amazing reduction in my annual premium of that staggering 1p . yes one whole penny AND after a whack ( my fault seemingly in August 2019 on my fully comp insce. ) and the other side claiming £4.5k or thereabouts AND Saga delaying dealing with it all PROPERLY I am lumbered with a CCJ that's " satisfied " rather than expunged and cancelled ...... ok, the Saga guy dealing with all this is aware of my ire about this and is seemingly doing all he can, as the specialist Claims guy for Saga to get the Court to put in place the necessary paperwork that he sent them months ago to Expunge the CCJ .... but in the meantime I feel a bit bereft and peeeeed off ......... ok, it's only £4.5 k BUT I feel like a broke criminal and it ain't right 😷 BUT on a comparison with A-drain F( l ) ucks well, blimey, Saga is in a different and much much better league Malc

Rear Number Plate Size
Malc replied to Tyre Tread's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I think many suppliers on-line will offer a bespoke size / shape plate and you don't always have to order two either ! Malc -
let me embellish this slightly if I may ........ just perusing a 1999 Celsior Mk4 from a garage at £5k ... clearly dealing in lots of Jap Imports coz that's what's on their website ....... NOW, I asked them the same Q .... they say they don't know coz they don't deal with any of that side of it ...... beggars belief methinks " Hi Malcolm our Toyota Celsior does not have a sunroof and we don't know how much it would be to convert to mph as we don't do not do conversions . Apologies for any inconvenience." This garage puts itself forward as a professional set-up on-line ..... OK I now see it has Jap sat nav screen and a couple of blue wires hanging out from aside the steering column ....... I didn't ask about those tbh as I was more interested in the dash KM to mph ........... and seeing the air strut tops under the bonnet is acceptable as that's expected too . I can't believe they aren't faced with this Q most of the time from prospective purchasers of their stocks of imports ....... Cest le Vie I'll just stick to me dear old lady ...... Malc
