  1. I ALWAYS used to buy just the wiper RUBBERS from the Lexus / Toyota parts dept and they were brilliant, lasted maybe 3 yrs / 40k miles UNTIL the last time ( 3/4 years ago ) when I realised the stock being sold probably matched the age of my car and the premature deterioration in use was marked !.... and at £20+ a set for two rubbers seemed a silly extravagance My indy mechanic then, at the annual MOT and service, supplied just the rubbers at a fraction of the price and they seem to last a good 18 months / 18k miles or so and I'm happy at that Takes him just moments to change ..... on the original arms I think... probably Malc
  2. Absolutely . I prefer the tomato sauce stuff, there's always enough left over from a single tin for the cat to have a treat .... might be wasted on the cats if it were £1.50 a tin Gold product Malc Anyway, back to Road Tax stuff My Ls400 is £285 ? or so The Honda Legend being a 56 plate is a staggeringly stupid just shy of £600 M
  3. can you really tell the difference on a blind tasting with Tesco's own ? I just buy the 39p Morrisons / Tescos own brand ............ can't imagine for one moment they come out of a different factory process tbh Malc
  4. strange, just noticed trawling thru' the Honda Legend cars for sale on Auto.rader there's a Audi estate for sale by someone in Dudley from a residential street ......... one and the same maybe😲 Malc
  5. biggish County ,,, can you be more location specific ? Malc
  6. well, sadly it's almost 100% of the car driving population ! Not us rare Lexus owners for sure Malc
  7. the " new " Ls400 is really the Ls460 if you needed to equate it to anything known today on new costing ! Malc
  8. Just thinking the Delphi product ...... is that the business that's in Gillingham Kent ..... massive premises there, I think it's car automotive related Malc
  9. if it was a Ls400 V8 they wouldn't know it was even running you can certainly creep up on pedestrians and give them a shock when they turn around and see a car munching at their heels Malc
  10. charging at home, well, it would be very very useful if in Govt statistics there was some definitive thought on the percentage of the population owning cars that had zero facility for charging at home ( like me ) EV owners live in terraced homes in areas without off road parking Apartments .. similarly and the like ........ flats above shops etc This might give some sense to the credibility in the banning of the sale of brand new non EVs Any useful thoughts anyone ? Malc
  11. an old fashioned petrol V8 ...... Ls400 maybe with amazingly low maintenance and running costs apart from the petrol which you can purchase almost anywhere in the country and abroad without any specific range problem well, apart from maybe 500 miles before easy refuelling Malc
  12. just out of interest ..........anyone know what the position is with registered cars for sale on a garage forecourt ? Malc
  13. oh it happens in life for sure ..... those people pursuing the art of supplicants to the big big uninformed and couldn't care less for society attitudes of bosses in massive now impersonal organisations will rarely achieve a clear conscience and happy ever after ending in life I suppose having put up with a " system " for 40 years could be seen to be punishment enough though Malc
  14. or maybe insure it for " agreed value " .... can you do that with ordinary, not just classic type cars ? Malc
  15. just what is the " proper " sound of a V8 ? 32 years ago Lexus produced one of the very best cars available at that time ..... the Ls400 .... a V8 with the sound and roar of sheep munching grass at 200 mtrs Malc
  16. Steve, that example at £15k is fine but who on earth would pay that for it at this time ........ I'd just want to use it and then it's worth maybe £5/6k max IMHO ..... as the mileage exponentially explodes do people buy cars just to store them these days ... unless they're proper old classics Malc
  17. looks like it from the bits in the engine compartment then there's this for sale too 1997 Lexus LS 400 MOT Till June 23rd 2021 105877 miles Seller information lg_motor_services_ltd (2275 ) 99% Positive Feedback Save this seller Contact seller See other items Condition: Used Time left: Time left:5d 00h | (20 May, 2021 12:22:24 BST) Current bid: £1,040.00
  18. so you bought a likely MOT failure sorry, had to laugh ..... good purchase, well done ........ guess you'll rarely be reporting anything happening with the Celsior, apart from filling it with petrol from time to time Malc
  19. wonder how the SORN and road tax issues work with cars for sale on a garage forecourt these days I remember garage for sale cars being driven on Trade Plates were ok with no tax nor MOT in olden times BUT that van parked on a public footway, inhibiting passage of wheelchairs too ........ is always going to be illegal even if in throes of unloading etc which it clearly isn't and I would think some sense and leeway for very short term parking thereupon would be reasonably allowed by the Clamper However ......Possibly illegally parked, uninsured, untaxed and no MOT .......... and there's a yellow Notice on the screen in front of the driver's area Next step is carting away and then crushing 😵 Malc
  20. you're absolutely right AND if it's colour is Aspen Green and you have two unblemished rear doors going spare somewhere along the line then I'll be asking you for them please the " thumb " never goes away, just a question of relieving the pressure at times Malc heard a buddy of mine passed a couple of days ago, age 82 and always working on something or other but would never have a Lexus, always preferred the Mercedes ........... and the bills 😲
  21. is that Somerset or Devon or is there another aspect to the UK that I have yet to explore for a delicious, upside down cream ..... tea or scone .. is scone Scottish ... Stone of Scone is it ? damnably tough going if it's a Scot-turgeon inspired scone ....... rock solid as stone that even best highland cream couldn't soften methinks Malc
  22. lowish mileage and a pretty good looking body ............ wot's not to like ! those rusty Advisories sound a bit odd I'd be a little wary of the front seat passenger tho' ............. maybe the remnants of the last indy mechanic that tried to fix some cardboard box inflicted terrorism ..... there might be another appearing within your budget ..... max £25k ? Malc
  23. anywhere would have done, Sheppey, Windsor, Blackheath ..... guess Scotland is at peak mind time right now with Sturgeon dominating the tv news screens with her " breakaway " proposals ....... is that a chocolate biscuit too ? Malc
  24. oh my ! are you " M " in a Bond movie .................. or underhand working for HMRC ah, sorry, that's all of us I guess Malc
