  1. I think I'm right in saying this ....... in the UK the Govt has specific rules surrounding Apprenticeships, length of the Apprenticeship too, pay - with Govt Support ?, conditions, reporting etc Might be in the USA / Canada there are similar Govt regulations Good luck, nothing like training on the job ............. whatever the pay levels
  2. oh my ! this sounds like an expensive journey you're about to encounter ......... so APOC 101 take note ......... usual car costs maybe and expensive to maintain ....... whatever the quality of the sound system Malc
  3. if it's easy enough to remove ? .......... why not just take it out and then into a real shop and ask for a replacement ? Malc
  4. lots of referencing to this in various posts .. I'm sure you will be able to track them down or others will have useful comment for you Malc
  5. glad you didn't say .......... maxi .............. coz that was such a nice simple easy driving comfy, hatchback sorta car Malc
  6. and if you was ever alongside even a new fangled mini estate in an Ls400 you would realise that it, the Ls400. is just dwarfed by it ........ Malc
  7. never had to replace parking brake shoes on any of my Ls400's and 250k miles + but then I rarely ever use the parking brake ....... put her in P and you should be ok unless you're parking on the tip of the Matterhorn and afraid she might drop down never had MOT Advisories on this issue either Malc
  8. I think instructing your indy mechanic to take the car for a fresh MOT and to be there chatting with the MOT Tester at the time ( mine does that so I guess many will ) to check thru' with him/her the enormity of any issues arising right now or into the period before the following MOT a year hence, should give you some greater confidence on the state and credibility of the " amber " warnings by the dealer You'll probably save yourself a few £000's Malc
  9. on each of my Ls400s ( Mk3 now ) there has been no security code ever entered Malc
  10. so what's the law/rules about disability type scooters on the roads and footpaths ? tax, insurance, driving licence too ............... let alone age restrictions I mention this coz today I saw, thankfully coming down the other side of the road, such a mobility vehicle with about a half mile of road traffic behind it going veeeerrryyyy slooowllly Malc
  11. a well deserved cuppa or several methinks ........ well done Malc
  12. I guess Southend seafront has better parking than Monaco Malc
  13. so what happened to the 1997 Ls400 ? just being nosey Malc
  14. wow, their premises sure look unprepossessing BUT clearly low'ish overheads and brilliant service go hand-in-hand ... well done ......... not been to HB for ages ..... always sunny there if I remember Malc
  15. this looks like a sensible purveyor of teccy car keys and refill batteries ........ so where in Herne Bay are these wizards of keys ? Malc
  16. reading all these comments it seems to me as a " seasoned " driver that the TPMS is merely a means to grabbing money from the teccy car owning public to check and remedy spurious warning lights from time to time ... at £132 + vat an hour, min 1 hour 😲 Malc
  17. just out of interest .......... is there a rational point to modern cars being fitted with these sensors ? Malc
  18. I changed the Pirelli tyres that had just naturally worn evenly all over after a looooong time, wondered why my bro-in-law had changed the tyres so often beforehand, now we know ! pleased I could finally change them to the Falkens which seem to be ok so far and giving a much more comfortable ride tbh the front pads and discs I changed at the last service but one, about 10k miles now and I'm feeling them to be maybe suffering a little .... unlike the smoothness of the Ls400 brakes ..... we'll find out soon when it, the Honda goes in for its annual MOT and this time possibly a 4k mile service in about early/mid July Oh, and if I had any hair I'd want what Steve has in his piccy above Malc
  19. I'm reading on other very recent posts here that Lexus Essential Servicing has been dropped from their offerings Malc
  20. hopefully you won't need to ........ my Honda Legend is a brilliant piece of good engineering ....... no air suspension to worry about, normal tyres, brakes etc front drivers side windscreen wiper is inordinately long and only get it thru Honda and it's a very sensible price previous owner, my bro-in-law did spend Honda Main Dealer money on front steering stuff that had worn out well before 100k miles though . he put it down to his driving and the zillions of roundabouts at Mllton Keynes where he lived at that time Wonderful driving car, very comfortable, lots of power and responsive .... sadly not as good as my Ls400 though I never did own a Honda lawn mower ! You will thoroughly enjoy your new, reliable Honda steed I'm sure Malc
  21. and that also being the fact that like with BP, it's forecourt sales are exponentially exploding with longer re-fuelling times enabling customers to lounge around more at the station and SPEND ..... I was reading somewhere, possibly on some BP advice to shareholders, that some 50% of UK forecourt profits emanate from this otherwise passive customer spend ....... that's maybe one reason one's seeing a significant UK and worldwide growth in the BP re-fuelling station estate Malc
  22. oh my, don't think my 4ltrs has that many gears , nor do I worry about shifting up and down........... . she seems to excel at giving all the power she and I need when in situations deserving of it ..... like beating the pants off boy racers in their go-faster tin cans, say at the traffic lights or tricky manoeuvres, overtaking etc she just flies when needs arise Malc
  23. even got this PWR ECT on my 1995 limo Don't notice the oomph difference tho very much but strangely it does seem to improve mpg when on PWR Malc
