  1. well that's just BRILLIANT ... now, let's think about getting one right now so's to take out the boy racers in their Beemers etc at the lights ..... giv'em a bit of a shock eh Malc
  2. over the 20+ years of my 3 x Ls400s ownership I've always found a competent and diligent indy at indy prices and OEM but less expensive than full normal Retail Price parts generally, to keep my cars going without too much hassle or overawing expense or loss of use of the car at the time. My largest expense ever was a couple of years ago when I replaced in short measure all 4 UCAs and 4 new tyres at the same time almost ........ oh, and cambelt, waterpump etc and then the alternator too ......... it gets less painful the older one gets and the greater the power to spend what little one has on the things one wants to in life rather than absolute necessities, like gas and electric, council tax etc Knowing she's well set-up for another 10 years / 100k miles probably ...... might see me out from a 4ltr V8 to a mobility scooter ......... can one get a bespoke V8 do you think ! Malc
  3. absolutely YES and YES mine at 232k miles alongside her Honda Legend 56 plate at 134k miles both magnificent daily drivers Malc
  4. the steering wheel, the gear knob top and the driver's seat are reminiscent of 115k miles methinks the piccys of this car with the absence of DHP and it's wheels and the amazing 15k miles tells me, along with the MOT colour of grey ...... that this car maybe covered more miles at the first MOT shown at 2006 where a replacement dash might have been inserted ..... BEWARE I would think a good polished example can look very good indeed with the original unblemished super paintwork undamaged I'd be wanting some sound proof of such excellence from date of birth to present Malc
  5. maybe try your RAC / AA Breakdown cover to then get it to the garage ? Malc
  6. that used to be a freebie in the day .. simply like when replacing a dead lamp / bulb ........ release the headlamp " seal " into the engine bay area and the condensation will vanish ..... leave it all slightly ajar for the rest of time or re-do up the " seal " .... it always used to be as simple as that Malc
  7. Fortnum and Mason every time for me ............ the Queen's grocer ....... it must be the best Simply the Best ... Better than all the Rest ............ ah memories ! Malc
  8. summat ain't right with it ... it's advertised " ON THE NET " whatever that may be AND also with factory fitted DHP and Sports Wheels ...... you reckon ?? I don't see that ........... Malc
  9. anyone remember the likely cost of sorting out " misting " headlight coverings these days ? is it about £60 or so for someone to do it for you maybe m... an hour's honest simple labour Malc
  10. wrong clothes pegs maybe ...... old fashioned wooden one and a cheap Chinese plastic one too ! when will you ever learn not to use counterfeit products Malc
  11. did anyone see the tv ( yesterday ? ) piece that included Lunax ...... amazing, taking 60 year old RRs and replacing the engines with bespoke Electric one's ..... the car's in bits and on end a sight to behold with total, and I mean TOTAL refurbishment of every single morsel of the car OK still a silly 200 mile range and maybe at £500k BUT an amazing sight too see an effectively brand new 60 years young RR Malc now where's this S3 Bentley I'm hankering after
  12. Do you trust your garage prognosis ? can't quite fathom how anyone could have possibly welded the exhaust to the actual manifold ..... without taking it all out in the first instance ..... and no-one would have done that eh ! wouldn't it be possible to dismantle the exhaust into chopped off sections if needs be and then the correct small fingered person with the right tools actually undo the exhaust at the manifold .......... it can't surely have been welded into place there My indy assures me that my exhaust pipes are good to go truly for the life of the car, tank-like stainless steel he says.... and I'm 26 yrs young coming up and 233k miles Malc
  13. I guess initially in Japanese and then challenging translations to English maybe Malc
  14. oh the joy and tiny expense of owning and using very fully an old fashioned astonishingly well-built Ls400 it makes me wonder how all this super-doopa new technology translates into insecurity, very limited mileage wear and a lack of confidence in the product by the manufacturer ( Lexus ) itself.............. to give-up on keeping the customer satisfied and content to own, what used to be in olden times, a brilliant marque It's the times we're in ............ corporate avoidance of responsibility ....... Lexus is probably no different these days to all the other car manufacturers ..... a lack of pride to produce something really really worth having Malc
  15. it would almost certainly be an exchange unit ...... to send yours back Malc
  16. did you read the warnings on here before you purchased ..... hope you're fine with these specific plugs best wishes whatever Malc
  17. if you spoke to many Ls400 owners on here you might get a different perspective on this ! unless of course they made a brand new Ls400 with all the longevity qualities of their existing car Malc
  18. that's very precise .... could it be your personal reactivity timings rather than the car ? going searching for a 50% of a 1 second delay seems challenging Malc
  19. my indy mechanic has often persuaded me NOT to buy a Bentley .... I want an S3 specifically ........... or any Bentley he says as in his experience it would be on a trailer down to him more than it would ever be able to be used properly by me My Ls400 is the better option for longevity .. 12/15k miles a year....... in ride comfort and security of on-going bank balance But I'll always be tempted i know Malc
  20. for mere mortals yes ........... complimentary free for me these days ( years ) after 50 years continuous membership 😊 Malc
  21. my RAC full cover includes both me and my partner and both our cars too .............. if you thought about separate from the " all inclusive " cover with the Lexus programme Malc
  22. I understand you are allowed to drive a MOT expired car to a pre-booked MOT without penalty BUT it MUST be insured ...... and roadworthy ............ driving on Trade Plates overcomes all of this with the car on the traders insce of course Malc
