  1. Hey guys ... just had this come thru on a regular email to me Might be worth following even if it's just out of interest Malc https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/auctions/lexus-ls-460-sel-j8xY6g?utm_campaign=Targeted | Tuesday Auctions Starting Large Segments | 13%2F07%2F21&utm_term=01ER0NC4HTPFY4NG9R64B0W3V4&utm_medium=email&utm_source=EnquiryMakes - Jaguar&utm_content=None&_kx=SDWTue2MRbjkadnXb4Smx9woSFIvxrDiLNRawT0ilZo3PIm361ZjTYE0XXIBMBgS.X5QLxS
  2. come on Mike, it must surely be champagne time for all us LOC buddies ............. did you get your latest replacement door ok ? Hope the cataracts solution helps you see your cheque book ok ........ seriously, best wishes with all that health issues stuff whatever Malc
  3. I think SGS have been used by members for these to be re-gassed ? in the past ..... someone else with personal experience of Ls400 bonnet struts will advise I'm sure I have used them a while ago for re-making of hatch struts for my even then obsolete Mazda 323f ... excellent service and price at the time Malc
  4. well, I would just take particular care that whatever you buy doesn't have headlamps where you can't replace the bulbs and a new one at £1000 is the only option ! That aside I'm sure you'll buy the right car for you NOW for example, (my 56 plate) the Honda Legend is an amazing silly cheap car to buy right now looking at auto..der .... capable of huge miles, with comfort and reliability when serviced properly ( like any car ) ...... but this year's Road Tax is at £600 and due 1st August 😵 A good serviced car would probably give you a lot of what you want but the mpg ain't for the miserly and tight fisted tho' Good luck whatever you decide too get Malc
  5. couldn't help thinking how old and aggressive / gnarled some of those brilliant Italian players looked last night Their concentration seemed that of old men intent on a win ... just so sad the temptation to pull shirts and whack English bodies and legs was also on their agenda ..... which those of us who saw the colour 1966 World Cup match the other day on tv would have noted that anything resembling that sort of action resulted in a foul being awarded How the policing on the field has changed and gentlemenly acceptable behaviour has flown with the wind ........ sad about Rashford's mis-kick ..... poor lad, his mum must have been devastated . as were we Live to fight another day eh ! Malc
  6. was it Channel 4 ? yesterday they showed the colourized 1966 World Cup .. fascinating to see those brilliant red-shirted UK players in action ... many looked so old tho' and they put in ( I guess sound effects ) the " thud " of leather boot on leather ball at appropriate times Anyone else notice that nuance ? Malc
  7. and it's only when you realise from some event in one's life that you might never have done again that you understand just what an amazing thing this world is........ even with all its trials and tribulations and Ls400 breakdowns too ....... and that's so rare thankfully just awaken each morning and see that wonderful sky, be it bright and sunny, wet, grey and black ............ you do still wake up to actually enjoy it all Life's good, whatever ............... Malc
  8. thankfully I hadn't thought to travel thru' France or europe until at least next spring / summer ... by then we'll all be extra penalised for Boris not coughing up the extra £5bn that Macron et al NEED to balance the books now that we have left them in the lurch having to pay for the " largesse " of the eu civil servants salaries and future-proofed pensions ..... and increases in coffee break cost let's wait and see .............. unless the French fishing fleet block the eurotunnel somehow AND the Calais ferry station ........... Malc
  9. which often respond to a sound wallop on top of the dashboard to nudge it back to action Malc
  10. guys, here we go again ..... renewal of my Saga insurance on the 3 year fixed price thingy I spoke about earlier in the year was it ? The Honda Legend comes in another staggering, whooopppeee, unbridled generosity of a reduction in my upcoming premium ( due 1st Agust ) of ... wait for it, yes you guessed a whole 1 yes .............. 1 penny I have only just got it in the post so Monday I'll be spending a little more of my " precious " leisure ! time chatting with someone there who will, initially giggle in amazement and then take what Saga have said seriously and try to make some logic of it all to me .................... unsuccessfully tho I'm sure remembering their CEO's PA's challenging time on the phone to me apologising for only being able to offer a midstream reduction of £13.23 to chop 3500 miles from the agreed mileage ( of 7k ) due to covid Let's see ............ wot a bugger it all is trying to make any sense of these insurers minds and rationality 😵 Malc
  11. sounds like great words of wisdom ............... thankfully I would only ever leave that aspect to my car maintenance to your professionalism ...... I know it's beyond my indy to tackle for sure Malc
  12. I still have this one on my rear numberplate ...... is it in compliance with the EU truth police requirements though ? Malc
  13. aha BUT do you think anyone has told the gendarmes and border force police and that they will worry about such a challenging crime of non compliance with a " sticker " of such gargantuan significant proportions when faced with beligerent United Kingdom travellers ☠️ rather than concerning themselves with the non GB or UK stickered migrants in death defying travel crossing the English channel Malc
  14. the Final will be a good game, fair and robust and VAR will do all it's meant to do and the best side will of course WIN it just happens to be ENGLAND ( of course ) Malc
  15. my indy mechanic thoroughly recommended NOT to use fully synthetic in my old worn engine ... just semi-synthetic Maybe that's the problem, wrong oil grade possibly Malc
  16. they sure look the part ............. good luck with the sale ..... do keep us in the picture .... we're always interested in these things Thanks Malc
  17. I thought that too had I bought it It's well documented on here somewhere .............. I bought from EurocarParts or some such recognised name and think it was about £400 exchange and reconditioned The Honda Legend alternator went too shortly thereafter sadly and NEW OEM from the Honda Main Dealer was about £1000 too One doesn't often get the opportunity to delay fitting a replacement alternator to one's car when it's in daily use and recovery by the RAC is in throes ordering from Amayama / Rockauto doesn't get you the part overnight sadly Malc
  18. yes for sure, that's the price quoted by Lexus when mine went at 208k miles ( I think that was about the mileage ) Malc
  19. well Marcus .... Lexus itself for OEM Main Dealer ............ and other usual reliable suppliers for exchange reconditioned I haven't checked Lexuspartsdirect .......... maybe you could check them out |? maybe check out Amayama and Rockauto ( USA ) too Malc
  20. Gentlemen, whatever your thoughts and comments above I for one really did quite enjoy last night's Game .... I even postponed a business call from India to make sure it wasn't interrupted and I could ENJOY the spectacle Well done ENGLAND roll on Sunday for another spectacular WIN Malc
  21. well Marcus, a NEW OEM alternator is the best part of £1000 from Lexus .......... an exchange reconditioned one is maybe £4/500 from a known and reputable supplier Malc
  22. Marcus, is there any useful and provable service history with the car being sold .... particularly the change of cambelt, waterpump ............. and pulleys check ....... date, mileage and by whom / which Lexus Main Dealer and has anybody checked with Lexus that the original RECALL work has been done with regard to changing the Starter Motor ? a specific issue with the Mk3 and not always seen to I understand .............. and is it a NEW alternator ............. or simply the usual Exchange Reconditioned one .......... and who by / from ? Thanks Malcolm
