  1. but it says NME registration ! Malc
  2. in the New Musical Express van those happy days Malc
  3. I thought it was just my useless wifi that's stopped me from viewing Malc
  4. have both .......... my Honda Legend that we've now owned exactly 5 years tomorrow , that the gf uses all the time and me part-time, is a truly wonderful 3.6 ltr limo of a car and apart from the stupid now £600 a year Road Tax, which frustrates me, is the next best thing to my present Ls400 that was 10 years in my ownership this June past ............ and about 110k miles too I do really really prefer driving the Ls400 and would have to buy another if this one was parted from me before it's / my time .. say a bad write-off .... the car and / or me Malc ( my Ls400 is now a Cat N write-off , slightly damaged rear door, however still with all original unblemished paint )
  5. is this the effect of the heat from the lit bulb allowing evaporation of ( potential ) condensate thru' those tiny apertures then ? Malc
  6. ........ I guess we're at the point in frustration where we see exactly the same car, albeit maybe a day newer ......... gets clobbered by the Govt for another £315 ? a year ... but I s'pose they have to draw the line somewhere and it's at early 2006 Malc
  7. and availability of vehicle spare parts for a minimum period should become mandatory methinks ...... especially for the Ls400s ( mine anyway - say 45 years ) BUT, seriously, this I note is now the upcoming LEGAL default position ( I read somewhere recently ) with washing machines and other white goods etc that people are to date just having to throw away when summat simple goes kaput ..... whether the labour content on repairs becomes sustainable or not, well, that possibly kills off many repairs anyway ... notwithstanding zero supply of spare parts Malc
  8. no, it's just a slip of the fingers on the keyboard by the MOT Tester inputting Look at mine on J54DAP, one Tester forgot the zero on the end in 2006 ......... 176680 miles ..... it happens Malc
  9. these are reaching the pricing stage where it's going to be a " better " buy finding a well looked after old Bentley or RR for similar money and drive those very very few miles in even more comfort ( but less reliability no doubt ) Malc
  10. Gentlemen ........... have none of you ever watched Dads Army .. well, if a Butcher's van can run on Hydrogen fuel suspended in a balloon on the roof and based out in Walmington-on-Sea then I'm sure some 80 years later it's not beyond the wit of man in the UK to get it's act together and ................ c'mon Mr Mainwaring Malc
  11. my old original Ls400 J54DAP was a similar white ... pearlescent white tho' and same tan upholstery ... with 15" wheels and like this one's spare wheel, a Dunlop at £17k they could at least have replaced the spare wheel too methinks Can't see the point in buying one of these fabulous cars never to use it .. and if you are going to then save £10k and buy a similar one with a few more miles A rare beast nonetheless Malc
  12. Adam, she looks a peach and you will enjoy great driving with her However, be prudent and get someone to change the radiator before too long please if it's not been done, and it probably hasn't .......... are you proposing to continue with Lexus for servicing etc or are you going to use your usual trusted mechanic ? He will change the rad at a better cost than Lexus might and won't query the need, whereas Lexus will probably tell you not to bother ....... many many posts on here will advise you of the prudence to do so ........... not a huge expense tho' Apart from this, wow, she looks a very good car and should give you years of excellent motoring Well done Malc
  13. Jeez I'm pleased I never have to worry about mpg and cost£££ in my delightfully comfy powerful limo ....... I think on a good run, say 70mph on the motorway ..... fully laden I used to calculate about 30mpg ... and down to late teens ........ when poodling around and not warmed-up One of the joys of owning a big Lexus........... . just pull into the forecourt and fill-up when the orange low fuel light comes on ........ there's usually about 100 miles left in her of the 85.1 litres capacity ( I think that's it ! ) .... usually costs @ £90 on a refill ..... it's only money The RX300 is probably old technology, but younger than mine ............ no biggish Lexus could be expected to be low in fuel costs .... but you probably save in reduced maintenance bills coz it's a good quality car compared to many others with cheaper to run fuel costs It's great you enjoy your car, that's one of the main benefits of owning the car you really really want ........ and lower maintenance costs too Malc
  14. excellent, well done ......... someone from here maybe ? price achieved ? Malc
  15. and it's probably £600 Road Tax too ...... just like my 2006 Honda Legend is now 😵 My Ls400 is still £285 ....... I think last time around Malc
  16. and usually a Glass Claim doesn't affect your No Claims Discount etc Malc
  17. perhaps your car fully comprehensive insurance might cover that event ? Malc
  18. nor the investment . especially if it's my own pension fund doing it . aaaggghhh ! Just look at what's happening with the new IPOs in the USA coming out of China and the Chinese Authorities changing the ground rules and stymeying the global investors who have already invested in a BIG Idea that's maybe destined for the scrap heap in short measure as they line up the company bosses for summary execution at some stage down the line ............. But Allego you say is Dutch and they are renowned for peaceful times ...... hopefully Malc
  19. Allego IPO must have been full of amazing hype and maybe the investors believed it all if they really think there's ( build and ) sales capacity in the EU for a 6/7 fold increase in sales in just 4 years ... seems quite incredible to me BUT there we are, what would I know or even perceive to be sensible .... just hope my Pension Fund hasn't taken a position in this Allego business😵 Malc
  20. this could be a fallacy for the short-term future It is probable that with the roll-out of meters the power providers will be in the position of just being able to " cut you off " willy-nilly, individually, household by identified household when usage gets too demanding for them to supply Malc
  21. generally yes I suppose ...... BUT the front nearside UCA I bought initially, the first of 5 yes 5 . was a Blueprint product and only lasted about 40k miles .... then replaced with Amayama OEM ........ 4 x UCAs for each corner ......over a fairly short period thereafter ....... But of course timing belt branded ...... Aisin kit ..... waterpump, pulleys would be fine from wherever . possibly not Blueprint tho' Just my thoughts Malc
  22. be sure to take anti midge cream / repellent ............ they really can be awesomely 'orrible things when they start biting Malc
  23. of course I meant sequentially without a break ! M
  24. Bernard, yes, about that incl VAT ...... various posts on here have stated that from time to time Malc
  25. just a thought ............ 3D printing maybe ! Malc
