  1. to my strange mind I find the look of this new car just so so old fashioned and representing the look of a stately bygone era in " Presidential or Royal " style cavalcade motoring ... you would need at least half a dozen of them, with chauffeurs, to be properly impressive Nonetheless a fabulous car I'm sure but I have no idea how it compares to a Ls600 Malc
  2. thankfully the world was a less structured and knowing place in the 1700's ......... and even Mr Toyota hadn't thought to invent the motor car .. but there we have it, some clever so-and so will tell us that the car had been invented ......... just that they hadn't thought to put a fossil liquid-fuelled engine into it ..... nor indeed horse droppings that would have deprived farmers of their rightful stores of manure to improve the agricultural lot at the time ..... oh and thereby food production for the burgeoning masses that were eating the country " out of house and home " ..........( wonder where that phrase cam from ? Malthus probably eh ! ) Malc
  3. Govts worldwide never seem to do much useful nor coherent and certainly wouldn't be interested in having a handle on fuelling stations methinks ..... it takes brave and well funded businesses to change myths to reality and the " oil " giants, Aramco and the like, have all the necessaries to shell out I'm sure ... even if it's not the Royal Dutch variety Malc
  4. then we should consider a campaign of banning or super road taxing all cars that seat more than 5 pax ........ there's some silly arguments around so just thought I'd get one in toooooo ........................ Malc
  5. ............ and join the Q of the other 275 cars waiting for the chargers Malc well, I know BP is developing it's hydrogen fuel facility in the north of England and I'm surmising will be fitting said fuel pumps at each and all it's 1100 ? estate in the UK as a starter ! ........ and then some more in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons no doubt other than maybe several '000's of fuel stations as no doubt Shell, Esso, and all the other odd-ball named fuel stations will be stocking-up too Malc
  6. isn't it a 100k miles / 7 years ? assorted Manufacturers lifetime warranties and all that Malc
  7. could it be the main battery on the car that's playing-up ? Malc
  8. isn't it also " fact " stated by some that cows generate some 40+% of carbon emissions, green---- house ? gases ...... also computers, ipads, laptops and mobile phones generate similar sums too ........ in the end cars and mobile abilities on the roads, deserts, jungles etc probably do only generate that monster figure of a miserly 2.4% BUT who on earth knows ( or even really really cares . apart from Greta someone or other ! ) .... as I mentioned before somewhere on this Forum, has anyone calculated the actual carbon footprint / cost of the Branson and Tesla guys ventures into space for their jollies I wonder ... and there's two guys at the forefront of whingeing-on about saving the planet Just a little more food for thought from some old bugger who's amazingly happy continuing to pollute a tiny amount with his E10 fuel in his wonderful but aged, old tec, old school, Ls400 Malc
  9. this could be quite serious ... a couple of years ago on a cruise we stopped off in ....... Bremen was it ? ....... and watched a silent silent EV huge BMW in the town square actually CRUSH a family of ducks ? that didn't hear or see it coming ....... ah the eco-purists that don't mind knowing these things happen in order to save the planet eh ......... Malc
  10. be that as it may, at least it will be done and work fine after Malc
  11. or just pop along to your local Timpsons for a 2 minute keyfob battery change-over Malc
  12. and a number of Post Office not too old vans too I've been noticing Malc
  13. achieved successfully ? Malc
  14. driving her for about 15k miles a year o'er hill and dale and into the EU and all around..... without caring too much what people may think of her looks ..... it's the sheer delight of the comfort and safety and reliability of driving this dear old lady that makes me happy ............ venturing into and around pastures a'new ....... this damned covid has certainly put a lid on all that these past 18 months 😵 Malc
  15. ferral cats get fed at our place, along with our own 4 cats and next doors social misfit of a cat ........... they know I'd pull their claws out of they did damage like that . only joking honest ! I'm thinking I might bite the bullet at some stage and have the poorly looking wheels refurbished and the odd blemish ( but no broken paintwork, just the odd non too deep scratch methinks ) " cleaned up " and making her look a little more presentable My only fear is that as soon as I've spent a grand or so on all this, some mumpty will come along and cause me to get her written-off properly, rather than just the delightful Cat N she is now ... ho hum ...... wot to do Malc
  16. the guys who are coming to you will indubitably have the appropriate tools to remove all and any nuts and then you can find a set of replacement locking one's should the need arise ............ sometime soon if the tyre fitters don't carry the necessary kit then they will be a pack of " numpties " methinks Malc
  17. well, if you're throwing snidey remarks at my 3.6 ltr Honda Legend being a lawnmower, well, I never hehehehehehehe Malc
  18. My October 1995 car with almost undamaged paint finish and never re-painted areas has, just this past week, showed signs of lacquer peeling ............ only at the tops of the nearside doors BUT nonetheless has just started Just totally age related and I'm a bit surprised, had thought that might only affect repainted and lacquered areas at some time .... Cest le vie Ant thoughts ? Malc
  19. might be but I'm thinking a replacement wing might be amazingly elusive to find Malc
  20. many are Malc
  21. ho hum .... I only ever see things in a positive light and am quite happy for people to be so so wrong whatever their reasons, stupid or otherwise ...... and it's a very rare occasion when I will mention the downright stupidity emanating from whomsoever .... live and let live is my motto in life and everyone can have their own opinion and observation and if it's a disagreeable one then we can just ignore and move on ..... after all, I just KNOW I'm right all the time you are allowed to disagree of course and I won't take umbridge, nor instruct the mafioso to pop round and break your legs to stop you running away 😵 and of course we all know the Ls400 is the best Lexus ever made ever Malc men in white coats may appear anytime soon then ?
  22. probably the people who are zooming off in their space rockets anyone done the maths on this one yet ? cost of carbon footprint for manufacture, lift off ,space-ing around and return and then the clearing up ? Bet it's a little more than the cost of making and running a Bentley or several for some decades Malc
  23. Looks a fine motor and clearly it is, well done .... years and years of excellent motoring ahead of you ...... heaven knows what the control arms might cost but at 60k miles they can't surely be too worn ............ on my ( the UCAs ) Ls400 they lasted between 150 / 200k miles Malc Old Baz should have bought that one with the number plate ABZ ...... anyone ever hear of him these days ?
  24. but only if you never want to use it ..... and what's the point in that I ask ....... buy one 50k miles more and save £10k ? Malc
