  1. ........... it's a differently engineered car with less stress on the engine maybe ...... hence less effort and therefore less fuel to travel the same distances I think 25mpg is probably about right, often less when poodling around and quite some more when coasting along the motorway fully laden at 70mph In my limited 20+ years experience of the Ls400 I found my mpg varies between about 18 and ......... 31 mpg in the latter fully laden and belting around scenarios Malc
  2. Ray hi, welcome to the Club ......... searching many posts on here will explain that it's not disabled, it's probably just kaput sadly It's quite an expensive fix if you can't live with it's " dead " position ..... rake up and down and telescopic, in and out another owner on here with a Ls430 will hopefully engage in this chat and explain something better and more useful from his own experiences Best wishes whatever with the outcomes ,,,,,,,,,,,,,if you bought the car from a garage or a trader then straight back there for it to be fixed methinks Malc
  3. " of mice and men " eh ! someone wrote a book about this a little while back methinks Now then, what's this mouse ( mat ) next to my desktop got to do with it all ............ is it some sort of Govt trial of radiation links emanating from my desktop screen that's being surreptitiously recorded for posterity ( or is it prosterioritry or preposteriority ) C'mon guys, lighten-up please, this is getting far too highbrow for most on here . well, me anyway .... maybe it's me age got to do summat wiv'it Malc
  4. Just reading the "Chuffed " post on here are they saying that the reduction in mpg with E10 fuel more or less cancels out the increased cost of the Premium Fuel ......... well if that's the case it's a no brainer but to fill up with the premium grade stuff ... which is still, they say E5 based Your thoughts please guys Malc
  5. chatting to my indy the other week about this on my 1995 Ls400 . he thought it should be ok on E10 ...... but there's no definitive answer I've seen anywhere for those of us with " Golden Oldies " ............... and as for Tesco pricing they are the most expensive for fuel around here, on Sheppey, Kent. Even the local Morrison's is 3p per litre dearer here than their store 4 miles away in Sittingbourne ....... they are all such CHEATS Malc
  6. ah no no no ...... it won't breakdown like one of those ! Malc
  7. inside ............... I'm presuming it's just condensation ? Malc
  8. I hope the RAC are sorting all this transporting around for you ok ? Malc
  9. look here young man your car has done a tiny mileage for it's age and will continue at 5k miles a year until you give up driving, so, it's quite unlikely you will need to ever claim for any warranty work ......... your car is a good Lexus that suits you admirably......... tiny tiny careful mileage continuing for the rest of your driving time methinks too . all you're going to need, touch wood, is normal regular annual servicing and MOT together with the occasional but rare set of tyres and brakes and consumables NOT covered by any sort of warranty AND what's more, all this regular servicing and maintenance can be done by a good local competent independent trustworthy NON- Lexus Main Dealer and save you £'000's over the time................... No point you changing your car unless you've got spare cash to burn and just fancy a change ........ your Lexus should last you for a very very long time and give you supreme confidence that nowt will cost you other than regular servicing and regular expected maintenance Stick with it I say, well, at least for another 20 years Malc
  10. I was reading somewhere a little while back that USA interests now own significant proportion of the Sahara ( desert ) ... to possibly irrigate for food production and security Malc
  11. don't remember it being that cheap in 1968 when I was a part time petrol pump attendant ....... used to put 15 gallons of 5* 101 octane, a week into a beautiful Roller that always came in on my weekend shift ...... a staggering £5 ............ how on earth could anyone afford to put so much petrol into a car I thought ......... that's 6/8p a gallon ... about 7p a litre in modern money .... those halcyon days eh ! no idea what the tax regime could have been then .... didn't feature at all on my worry platform Malc
  12. probably a 1000 or two might be an eyebrow raiser but a few hundred miles shouldn't concern any one at all .......... why even refill the fuel ............ it's a " courtesy " car for heavens sake what would I know, I've never had one in my life so my thoughts are just those of someone who would probably ask at the outset and expect an answer similar to my thoughts tbh Just ask them I would think Malc
  13. hahahahaha ... all us oldies think the same of ourselves .. but the chasing needs to be done in super-propelled mobility scooters .. now then .......... they're a BEV too these days Hydrogen powered one's about to be on the horizon methinks ..... refilled by the new, Govt inspired research for .......... hydrogen green gas that I can upload from my new gas boiler when it arrives ............. that's a way off too methinks ..... not sure I'll be living with great mobility that far into the distance to reap all these " green " benefits by 2050 ....... jeez I'll be 100 then Malc
  14. Renato, oh my, you sound as tho' you might be referring to YOUR Royal family as one does here in the UK ..... are you a member of the Monaco Royalty then ........... thinking your incognito on here Malc
  15. I trust you might have a couple of local competent independent garage guys who will give you a sensible quote to keep you on the road Whatever you spend repairing yours at 80k miles will be worth it compared to buying someone else's secondhand issues Best wishes with it all Malc
  16. wonder how often you'd fill up your Lexus driving the inordinate lengths you'd have to in Monaco " Yes Sir, One Royal owner from new ........ 3 years old and 657 kms and just requiring a fill-up, it's second tank of fuel " Malc
  17. offsetting one child seems an interesting concept ........... ........... does Family Allowance still pervade ? Malc
  18. Malc

    MRI

FREE at the POINT of NEED ......... oneself and one's partners and families who might not pay into the System also get this " FREE " treatment for life too ............. I'm happy to have paid my dues, and I'm happy you have paid all yours too ..... they have saved my life which to my mind is invaluable .......... to others my life is perhaps of immeasurable value ........ nice way of saying " valueless" Malc
  19. it's quite incredible that it can affect and choose those dreadful people amongst the population that are " rats " ........ mafioso, murderers, and the like ......... try to lighten up a bit eh ! this is getting a tad tooooo serious for a car forum methinks Malc

    MRI

hahahahahahaha ... I can laugh about it all now ... we're all getting old and knackered for one reason or another and thank heaven for the NHS and Drs and Nurses, Consultants, Surgeons and all ........ and all FREE at that essential Point of Need One could be forever wondering if it's my or your turn next to get that dreaded diagnosis of summat weird and often terrible about to bring one down ...... best not to worry about it till it happens methinks .. just be very very aware that it can often be the tiniest, simplest thingamebob that starts the dreaded cancer process rolling AND then make sure you're on top of it and get the Dr to check it all out ..... that's the initial essential start for it all to get caught early, treated and then on your way to another fulfilling worry free life eh ! Driving our Lexus to the ends of the earth and fulfilling those dreams if you haven't already done so coz you've been preoccupied with worry about health I know life just isn't that simple and straightforward ... BUT .... one can dream maybe Good luck to all .. me and you deserve it Malc
  21. methinks you're living in " cloud cuckoo land " if you really believe that of any Govt intent on raising much needed revenue Malc
  22. and I can assure you that the lower the emissions the more likely the VED will be .......... just to amass the big fortune the lack of petroleum revenue tax will reduce Don't think for one minute that the revenue raising will matter one jot on the emissions levels ........ it's purely on ability to pay ... hehehehe ......... Tesla owners, rich as they are, won't miss the big big VED tax take for sure Malc
  23. hey, welcome here ...... no idea where you are in the world but almost everyone on here, well me anyway, would suggest you take the car to a specialist aircon service business who will be able to professionally and reliably sort out your problem I'm surmising you don't have the technical skills and knowledge to analyse even where to start, like most people, BUT you need the thing to work to cool you down so keep calm, chill ( sic ) and see a professional...... costwise might not be to your liking but there's a sure solution somewhere for you Best wishes with it all Malc

    MRI

.............. having had all my cancer stuff and, touch wood, successful radiotherapy and surgery throughout this dreadful covid period, the several and various MRI scans were without a doubt very very prompt, quick and available ....... as an NHS patient along with everyone else here with any form or fear of cancer ......... there was in my instance absolutely zero delay with the assorted MRI scans I had ......... NHS providing very well indeed for me at the Point of Need And Piers ...... well done, maybe be like me and just happily wake up every morning thanking whomsoever for such a wonderful and marvellous day that's ahead No complaints about that at all ... grab the day eh ! Malc
  25. oh come on !!! it's so easy peasy ............ as soon as the cash cows ( fuel duty take ) start to dry up the next will be the BEV cash cow ....... suitable road tax and " purchase " tax to make up for the lost fuel duty etc for heavens sake don't imagine for one jot of a second that BEV will escape with other than a formidable tax imposition at some stage down the line Malc
