Paint Flaking Off - NX 300h 5 Years old

if they won't be sensible and engage with you then I would see a solicitor and take out a claim against Lexus and the Dealership for full reimbursement of your purchase price of the car .... and tell them you are doing so before you do it ! .. and the resultant publicity too, especially on this Forum and elsewhere If they don't offer you some sensible comfort after you have advised them of this proposed course of action then see that solicitor for professional advice to move it forward Just my two penn'th Malc -
my maintenance costs have really been quite tiny at 234k miles of which in 10 years I have done 110k or so ........... Just normal annual MOT and servicing and a few age related issues like UCAs , alternator and of course tyres and brakes are the big'uns I dread to think what a Merc or BMW might have cost me at the same running ! and of course I've used my indy too ... that probably saves me nigh on £100 an hour labour charges these days Malc

well, I think it's appalling that the lacquer has started to peel at such a young age ....... maybe if it's a poor repair prior then that's understandable ( just ) BUT if it's never been repaired then the quality of the factory finish was dreadful ... not sure how you'll ever find that out sadly .. and I would be banging on someone's door at Lexus to get restitution somehow I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the tops of my nearside doors have just started to lacquer peel BUT that's at 26 years young though ,, and just about acceptable but not happy about it tbh Malc -
HEY welcome to the LOC how on earth did you manage to find a 9 year old car with just 12k miles ! Well done Malc

New E10 Fuel
Malc replied to Tinonline's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I'm having a little bit of a row with Southern Water right now about their seemingly surreptitious charge increases too .... mine's up about 30% this past month or so it seems ... it's all these little niggling " slight " uplifts in prices that dig into us My Council Tax seems to have increased too by about 7% ........... oh, and my Lloyds Bank interest rate they tell me has just been reduced, later this month to 0.01% but that's ok coz it's in a tax free ISA .... wooweeee Bring on the V8s eh ! petrol prices up up up and I don't mind Malc -
just make sure you use the correct E number fuel for your specific model and the radiator / gearbox leak issues have been sorted ok too best wishes with her .... yes I've noticed a huge number of Ls460s for sale these past few days ... heaven knows why, they seem to be terrific value for money methinks Malc Malc

Blimey ... put a few gallons into the 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer at the weekend ...... Esso Premium unleaded ( to which we add stuff whatever ) and that was 99 Octane ( red star ) Premium at 155.9p a litre .......... gulp ! Malc -
many years ago I had a cap that seemed fine on my old Ls400 BUT it wasn't and it's effectiveness had diminished and i was losing coolant thru that A replacement cap then from a factor was about a fiver ...... the caps were often for multi marque use too Malc

just wondered if it might have been a wandering one returning from some 20+ years service in Afghanistan and being parked up in the USAF station there Malc

if whatever is in there evaporates it will be just the H2O that would, not the additives methinks Malc

a pre event might be to discover WHY the level is too low .. do you have a leak somewhere ? Malc

am I right in thinking that the Royal Household was a very quick upfront starter in harnessing the tidal energy from the Thames at Windsor / Eton way ? Malc -
would this be out of Lakenheath ? Malc

if you can, check with Lexus at the Centre that your specific Mk3 actually had the starter motor replaced under the recall Lexus did back in the day of " new " Some missed the recall I understand and Lexus might feel honour bound to still carry out that recall most benefitted from ... I know that mine did, Lexus told me when I enquired 10 years ago Malc

Using super unleaded
Malc replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
The only reason I am " expecting " is because on this Forum there is informed comment from time to time that the premium fuel actually increases performance and improves mpg .......... driving a V8 gives me zero expectation of high mpg other than it is actually what it is from decades of driving this Lexus V8 engined car compared to many other V8s that I read of ..... maybe it's the aerodynamics of the machine or just the superior engineering I don't know, nor really care tbh It's a V8 4 ltr and my expectations of economy are just about zero, BUT performance well, 0 - 60 mph in less than 3 seconds is now my aim Malc -
New E10 Fuel
Malc replied to Tinonline's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I topped up yesterday with Premium Unleaded 97 octane E5 fuel at 137.7p / ltr at my local'ish Morrison's in Sittingbourne ... their E10 95 Octane is 130.7p / ltr .... they're right close to the Asda store too, so competition there and I haven't yet checked them out for E5 availability In passing I checked out the ( non-kiosk ) self-serve Sainsbury's in Faversham and there was NO Premium on offer There's a few other fuel stations close by too so next time, or when just passing, I'll check to see if they even have the E5 on sale So from now on it's E5 premium 97 octane for me The Honda Legend is still good to go on the E10 they tell me Malc -
RCF transmission malfunction.
Malc replied to Hoobee's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
now ... I just wonder if, if ,if they can put an old Ls400 into space ........... and get her back with all occupants intact ....... one for Branson and Musk to dwell over maybe Malc By the way, can't believe your RCF gears problem is other than something ridiculously simple that isn't going to cost the Warranty more than £5 or £6k 😵 . a washer or solenoid or summat like that -
Using super unleaded
Malc replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
topped up with premium E5 fuel today, just £42 about 30.5 ltrs at my local Morrison's and at 137.7 a ltr the usual unleaded E10 is now 130.7 ..... will I get that added 7p / ltr value in more ooomph and more mpg than if she had been left running on E10 guess that's 5% increase in cost overall so provided acceleration pops up to 4.7 secs 0 - 60mph then I'll be happy Malc -

Nissan Leaf - anyone driven or own one?
Malc replied to cruisermark's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
see, you caught this one out at last ........... NOOOOOO I forgot to consider the UPFRONT capital sum each 3 years too ... shall we say average of £5k ? = a further £20k ...... blimey, running and buying my aged Ls400 10 years ago has saved me the best part of £60k+ is that possible ? Are we really all ( well apart from me and a few Ls400 owners on here ) potentially saving £60k every 10 years by running our amazing elderly but magnificent Ls400s ?? Malc hahahahaha you should be asking Rishi this one ........ it's brilliant he can borrow £400bn at a slight %%% below zero eh ! Well done I say to the UK Govt getting at least this part of the equation right Malc Oh dear, we've moved a tad off target with the economies of the Nissan Leaf ...... sorry everyone
